Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle 5-6 (Hardcover Edition)

August 5, 2004 | 16 Comments

I just realised that I haven't scanned the last 2 Tsubasa Hardcovers. Well, it's kind of hard to do this when I didn't even open the books ever since I got them a couple of weeks ago. I was kind of bored, and in some ways, a bit pissed off at the series because it indirectly makes CLAMP postponed their work on X, which I consider a much superior story. Anyway, the entire hardcover version of Tsubasa makes me wish that CLAMP will give X the same kind of treatment in the future or at least half of the attention that they've given to this dimension-travel series at the moment. For now, I'm a bit mollified with the fact that these two volumes present three crossover characters from X: Yuzuriha Nekoi, Kusaragi Shiyu, and a young Seishirou Sakurazuka (who physically looks very similar to Subaru).

As usual, each volume come with color pages, postcard, and sometimes, a calendar. There are actually 2 color pages for the 5th volume but unfortunately, the scan for the first one (a picture of Sakura) was corrupted and I am too lazy to rescan it again, so that leaves me with this color picture featuring Shaoran, Kurogane, and Fye, and a postcard featuring Shaoran and Fye in ceremonial robes. Those who own volume 4, will know that that volume came with the first half of a small calendar featuring the male characters from the series. The second half of the calendar is included in volume 6 and features the female characters. Volume 6 also comes with a color picture of Fye posing like a Gargoyle and a postcard of Shaoran posing like Fuuma Monou of X

Yeah, when my friend first showed me Tsubasa at the bookstore, I was like, hey, that looks like syaoron...of course, followed by, Crap, that is Syaoron. O.o I believe the US edition has only gotten to Vol. 2 or 3 now? Anyhow, I've only read 1 (and I followed that by reading Vol. 1 of XXXHolic). The one reason I kept going, though, was because I kept wondering if Eriol would show up, me being this huge Eriol fangirl. ^^ Otherwise, a universe with Chii and Sakura side-by-side didn't really appeal to me. But I guess he isn't going to be present. -sigh-

Didn't the seventh hardcover edition come out ? I really want to get that one with chii on the cover ...is that right?...Do you have any scans of that one? I hope it comes out in chinese so i can read it. Do you think that Del Ray might be publishing the hardcover edition as well?

Yes, I actually already have the 7th volume. I just haven't got the time to actually do any scanning since I've been busy lately. But it'll get done eventually. As for Del Rey, I'm not sure if they'll publish the hardcover edition later on.

I just wondered what exactly the difference between 'hardcover' and 'paperback' is, (safe for the hard cover or the paper back, that is. -.-")
Do both issues have the postcard-gimme and the colored pages in it?

November 1, 2004 | Garten wrote:

That's pretty much it. The Hardcover version comes with a nice packaging (a box), some postcards (see scans), some color pages (see scans), and sometimes a bookmarker (see scans).

Crybaby/TsubasaAdick, please do not use more than one screen name, it makes things confusing for me.

As for xxxholic, I haven't read much of the series apart from the 1st volume. It is a funny story but it is different from Tsubasa both story-wise and art-wise.

Unfortunately, I don't live in Manila, so I don't know any particular store that sell the graphic novel. I can only suggest that you buy it from online shops like Amazon US.

I saw that on Amazon, they have the hard cover edition but they didn't have any image of the volume. Do any of you know, if the volume is in English or Japanese? 'cause i am just such a big fan os Tsubasa!

December 9, 2004 | Garten wrote:

Gracie, I'm sorry I almost forgot to reply to this. I'm not sure which Amazon shop you're talking about but if it's Amazon US, then I think it's possible that it will be the English version. There was a rumour that Del Rey was going to release the hardcover version but I'm not sure if it's true or not.
