Kyoshiro, yes this is a full version of the song. As for Higurashi, I haven't been able to get past the first 15 minutes of the first episode because the character design turns me off. I should really try again soon to see if I've changed my mind.

No, no, Suga Shikao is the guy with the glasses singing. You barely see him in the PV. The male in the story is probably just a random Japanese male model.

I really like this video. I really don't think it pushes any lines at all... I mean, is sexuality really such a shocking thing to people anymore? I like the butterfly with the maggots thing (I think they were maggots, anyways). Of course, I like macabre stuff, so mixing beauty and grotesque is something I like to see. I think the video fits the song well as far as style goes. Though, you're right in wondering whether this song fits xxxHolic at all... Style-wise, yeah; lyric-wise, not really.

I think that the feel of the song, combined with the eerie video (in xxxHOLiC) reminds me a lot of the opening to Stephen King's Kingdom Hospital. While the lyrics aren't necessarily appropriate, how often are they? Worry About You, by Ivy was used in the 4400, Kingdom Hospital, and also Roswell, but the lyrics fit none of those series. The fact is that it has the eerie feel to it that is absolutely perfect, meaning that the lyrics don't matter.

Writing this video off by saying "Ew! Sex!" is rather immature. The song, to me, is not aimed at a younger audience, nor is the video. The series, xxxHOLiC isn't aimed at kids either. It would probably be for age 16 and up, which is kinda the horny age. Face it. Older teens, especially males, think about sex...

Actually I think the reference to the black swallowtail butterfly and that being a sign of change is the most important relationship between the two. ****spoiler****If you watch the anime closely especially like episode 4, you can see the relationship as the youth in both scenarios is likened to the butterfly, while seeking his future

watching this PV is like reading a Murakami book...it especially brings me back to the the sex scenes of Kefka By the Shore where the 15 year old protagonist has sex with an elegant 50-year old whom he believes in his adolescent imagination may just possibly be his long-lost mother. soft porn, you say, but it's complex stuff, this is. and you'll be surprised by how many adolescents and young adults these days actually connect to stuff like this. for those who are past the blooming stage but has a taste for the artsy things that are derived from it, i guess it's this group who might refer to this as just another form of modern/contemporary art, myself nonwithstanding... i like it. just like i love the taste of pinot noir wine and the buzz it gives me.

LOL! Don't think for a moment that our frustrated schoolboy hero, Watanuki, isn't suffering a bit of the same pent up frustrations in both his mental and physical pursuit of the fair Himawari-chan. Face it, regardless of wherever you might be age-wise at the moment, 19 is a damn awkward age, especially as one leaves high school and begins to persue broader social matters (careers, relationships, etc.)

If you step back after viewing the PV, there's a subtle correlation between the youthful artistic expression and experimentation in photographing the catepillars and butterflies and then the transition from initially photographing the girl with that same artistic subject matter mentality, to his eventual physical experimentaion and expression with one's initial clumsy forrays into intimate sexual encounters.

Bottom line - Catepillars eventually do evolve into butterflies and we all get drawn into diifferent realms of interest (art, sex, music, whatever) as we progress down the road of life.

I think the music and lyrics are subltly appropriate and work for both the anime and the PV, from their individual artistic standpoints... ^_^

I think they fit a lot better than most anime op themes fit their series. The song is about the awkwardness of youth.. a "caterpillar" believing he is worthless but still dreaming of becoming a butterfly. People complain that Watanuki isnt 17, but he is still entering that stage in his life.. the actual number is meaningless.
