I can't believe how fast time flies. It's not that long ago that Winter season started and suddenly it's Spring. In 1 week time, 2007 Spring Anime season will start. To be honest, there aren't that many series that I'm interested in. I just list most of them here in case they turn out to be interesting. In fact, the only two anime series that I'm anticipating for this year are just the theatrical release of the new Evangelion movies and the 2nd season of Suzumiya Haruhi. Anyway, please note that this list is not a representative of the entire series that will be released this Spring. For more info, click on the link I provided above or if you can read Japanese, you're free to browse Moonphase. Last but not least, I'd like to know what everyone else would like to watch this season and why you choose those series.
| Gurren Lagann | |
![]() | Original Title: 「天元突破グレンラガン」(Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann) |
Story: In the distant future, people live in subterranean caves and consequently, always in fear of the occasional eartquake and cave-in. While on an excavation to expand the village, a boy called Simon finds a strange drill. At the same time, Simon's older brother, Kamina, always believe that there is a world on top of their village. Because of this, a group of hoodlums called Gurren intends on breaking through the ceiling. All of a sudden, an earthquake occurs and a robot breaks through from the ceiling.
Interest: Medium. I love Evangelion but the premise of this series sounds a bit silly. Plus, how many times does Gainax intends on re-using ideas that Evangelion came up with? They already did similar thing in This Ugly yet Beautiful World with disastrous result.
| Seto no Hanayome | |
![]() |
Original Title: 「瀬戸の花嫁」(Seto no Hanayome) |
Story: An ordinary junior high school student, Michishio Nagasumi, was rescued by a mermaid called Seto San when he almost drowned. Later on, however, he finds out that she comes from a mermaid mafia family with strict rule: if a mermaid meets a man, either one of them must die. The only exception to the rule is if the man marries the mermaid. Guess what Michishio decides to do?
Interest: Medium to Low. The first water-colored like artwork made me interested in the series. However, after I saw the anime version, my interest went down immediately. It looks and sounds like a typical romantic comedy and I'm just not in the mood for one lately. Not when it sounds similar to Ah, My Goddess and its breathen. And it's GONZO x AIC combination, whose last work, Pumpkin Scissors was quite disappointing.
| Claymore | |
![]() |
Original Title: 「Claymore」 |
Story: An entity known as 'Youma' has been devouring human. People have been unable to defend themselves against it until a half-human, half-youma warrior called Claymore appears.
Interest: Medium. It seems like a typical shounen series. And one that has middle-age feel to it, which I'm not too keen of.
| Darker than Black | |
![]() |
Original Title: 「Darker than Black: 黒の契約者」 - Darker than Black - Kuro no Keiyakusha |
Story: A mysterious and impossible to analyse field called "Hell's Gate" appears in Tokyo. The appearance of the field is also accompanied by the appearance of 'Keiyakusha' (Contractors), humans who possess new forms and super powers but has little to no human emotions.
Interest: High. It sounds like Heroes with a twist so I'm quite interested in it. I just hope there are more action and espionage instead of boring science/pretentious talks like in some BONES Sci-fi series. As a side note, this is the series which will replaced Code Geass's first season.
| Kamichama Karin | |
![]() |
Air Date: 6th of April 2007 (Friday, 17:30) |
Story: Hanazono Karin is an orphan who has just lost her cat. While visiting the cat's grave, she meets a rude boy called Kazune. Despite not wanting to see the boy again, her next meeting with him triggers a strange event courtesy of the ring that her deceased mother left her. Later on Karin finds out that the ring has the power to turn her into a Goddess.
Interest: Low. I don't usually like Brocolli's character design or story but this one seems kind of interesting so I'll give it a try. Plus the animation looks good and it'll get Ali Project opening.
| Seirei no Moribito | |
![]() |
Original Title: 「精霊の守り人」(Seirei no Moribito) |
Story: The 2nd Prince from the Kingdom of Yogo, Changumu, has been selected by the Water Spirits to become the Guardian of the Spirits. By the order of the King, the Prince was to be assasinated. However, a female warrior called Balsa came and save him.
Interest: Medium. The animation looks really nice but I'm not sure if I'm that interested in the storyline.
| Lucky Star | |
![]() |
Original Title: 「らっき☆すた」- Lucky Star |
Story: It's a slice-of-life comedy revolving the life of four girls. It's based on a 4-koma (panel) manga similar to Azumanga Daioh.
Interest: High to Medium. Seems like a relaxing anime to watch and with Kyoto Animation in charge, there might be added bonus in this. Hirano Aya fans will be happy to know that she'll be voicing one of the characters, Izumi Konata.
| Bokurano | |
![]() |
Original Title: 「ぼくらの」- Bokurano |
Story: During summer vacation, a group of 15 children finds a man living in a cave full of high-tech gadgets. The man claims that he's developing a game about 15 robots which defend Earth from Alien invasion and persuaded the children to give the game a try. It was later that the children finds out that not only they can't leave the game, it is also has fatal consequences to those who play it.
Interest: High/Low. I really, really want to see this animated but I kind of lost a bit of interest as soon as I found out that GONZO will be animating it. I wish the author had given it to Madhouse because then I know it'll be good quality. As it is now, I'm afraid that the quality of the artwork will nosedive only after the 2nd episode. The premise itself is interesting and if you haven't read the manga, then I suggest you stay away from it for good until you see the anime.
| Dennou Coil | |
![]() |
Original Title: 「電脳コイル」(Dennou Coil) |
Story: In the far distant future of Year 202x, there is a sixth grader called Okonogi Yuuko (Yasako). Her family is comprised of herself, her parents, and her sister. Prior to summer vacation, the family move to the city of Daikoku where Yasako's grandma is located. Daikoku is a historical city with many shrines and also happens to be a political district with the latest computing technologies.
Interest: High/Medium. It sounds like a slice-of-life series. I am just hoping that this one will be better than Asatte no Houkou.
i seriously cant wait for darker than black, strictly for some yoko kanno music.
Claymore, Darker than Black, Lucky Star and Bokurano are a must to me. Also, how about Nagasarete Airantou?
Lucky Star seems interest me the most.
Ah yes...the new anime season in spring. Last year, Spring had some memorable animes, which would be Ouran Koukou host club and Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu. There might be some hidden gems out there. As usual, I will be watching one episode of all of the new animes that airs for that season.
But..
From the looks of it, there are very few animes that grab my attention. One anime I am definitely watching is Kamichama Karin because I am a huge fan of Koge Donbo's work (and that means I actually purchased the manga, both Pita-ten and Kamichama Karin). I look forwarding to see how that turns out.
I will say this though...fans of Kugiyama Rie has a reason to rejoice since she is in Hayate Combat Butler and Zero no Tsukaima second season in April.
I'm more interested in dark horse animes...as usual. Currently, it seems there are animes that may not interest me. However, last year proved me wrong with good series like Asatte no Houkou.
Only time will tell...
Btw, Garten. I'm kinda glad you didn't see the end of Pumpkin scissors. It had a fantastic ending but definitely felt unsatisfied. It's one of those series you desparately want to see 2nd season of because of certain issues being unsolved.
Since many of the series are ending, this would definitely be a good time for you to catch up with Kekkaishi since it is off for a month. I'm a bit disappointed that they are taking so much time off but I can't complain because the quality of the anime has never dropped once. Strongly following the manga plotline also helps, which also included my favorite episode, Toshimori's day in episode 18 :P
Wouldn't hurt for you to finish XXXholic and NHK as well :P
Wishing Gainax some luck .... they pretty much have fallen into a black hole for ... I dunno .. last series I recalled really liking was ... Mahoromatic ..... and FLCL? ....
Hope Claymore has the animation to actually back up that image they keep rehashing on thier website .....
I wonder when Lovely complex (love com) anime be shown?
Will it be included in the spring anime season? I'm eagerly anticipating it ^_^
Personally, I'm looking forward to Hayate the Combat Butler. The manga is one of the funniest things I've read in a long time, so I have high hopes.
Oh, and if it's possible to make a good adaptation, I would love to see an anime version of Love Roma.
Lovely Complex will be on the 7th of April. So yeah, it'll be in Spring season. Check one of the links I mentioned in the first paragraph.
Most of the recent Gainax series have been huge disappointment so I don't think i'll be watching Gurren Lagann. I am already reading Claymore and Bokurano so those are out also. Really looking forward to Darker than Black and the new Haruhi.
DEVIL MAY CRY!! XD For some reason ppl must not know that this show is coming in spring cause them seem to forget to put it on their list. Of course that will be on the top of my list with out a doubt. But the animaters don't want to put out the release date and I'm like freaking out cause of that. All they say is spring 2007? So does anyone know when it starts? The reason why I can't wait is well........well there isn't enought space to explain how awesome the game\novel and manga are. Plus you can't forget Darker than Black, the trailer looks awesome. Hope you blog both or either one.
Lucky Star - It's KyoAni! Anything they touch turns gold.
Darker Than Black - BONES and replacing CG's timeslot.
Hayate the Combat Butler - what's this?
Nanoha StrikerS - Yes, I watched the previous two series on a whim and they were good.
1. Romeo and Juliet: It is my duty as a son of English literature professor to watch the first 3 episode of this.
2. Terra e ( to(at?) Earth ) : Because I am old enough to remember the original manga
3. Sola: Noto Mamiko
4. Idolsaga Xenoglosia(?): cute girls
5. Lucky Star: It is Kyoto Animation\
6. Like Hayate ( Hayate the Combat Butler ) : I liked Hayate's everyday skills ( cleaning, cooking, laundary, etc )
7. Bokurano : I am a scifi fan
8. Seto no Hanayome: Curious about Mermaid
9. Saiunkoku Monogatari 2nd season: Good novels.
About half of these will be dropped after three episode.
I am actually quite excited for Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann as I enjoyed Gainax's latest work Gunbuster2 a LOT. I hope they can make up for recent TV screw ups. I'm surprised that you don't have Hayate up there, but oh well, I know you are busy so I guess that is that. About GONZO, I just hope they don't screw up yet again but can't help thinking that they will as they are doing like 5 works at the same time...-_-;;;
'And it's GONZO x AIC combination, whose last work, Pumpkin Scissors was quite disappointing.'
This is coming from you, Garten?
Joudan ja ne.
First of all, you didn't even finish watching it even though you watched and blogged it. Secondly, the last short arc was awesome. I do admit that there was some holes here and there, which is why I want a 2nd season. It is still a big improvement from its previous animes(*cough*SolteyRei*cough*).
As for the animation, unless you have seen other GONZO works of this year, don't bother commenting about on it unless you seen Red Garden. They have been seriously consistent with that anime this year.
Compare to last year (Spring), I believe GONZO made a huge leap in both picking animes and animation wise. SolteyRei was poor in terms of story. NHK ni Youkoso was poor due to shabby animation and unfulfilling ending.
They made it up with 2 good animes, Red Garden and Pumpkin Scissors. The story for both series are fantastic. Although some can argue that Pumpkin Scissors had some few holes that was not solved in the last episode, it was still a very good series. No one has the right to complain about animation regarding GONZO's work this year. It's a vast improvement and very consistent.
Stop bashing a corporation based on past events. If they had done something well, acknowledge it. Don't be ignorant by always trying to find flaws when you know damn well that everyone has one.
I'm not talking about the storyline. I'm talking about GONZO's inability to keep their character design looking good and consistent for the majority of the series. And yes, I've seen GONZO series this year: NHK ni Youkoso and Pumpkin Scissors. Regardless of the story, I thought the character design was really poor and inconsistent. There's no excuse for them to do this when similar animation studio manage to keep the quality under control. I wouldn't have criticised them either if I haven't had similar experience with their series in the past. The only GONZO series that I remember enjoying from start to finish was Last Exile.
' I'm talking about GONZO's inability to keep their character design looking good and consistent for the majority of the series'
Two words: Red Garden. That's all I have to say.
Seto no Hanayome seems interesting. I love romantic comedies and can never tire of them.
By the way, Garten, thanks for your recaps on Honey and Clover and Ouran High School Host Club, I really like those series and always enjoyed reading your comments on the episodes shown.
By the way, I was wondering if you (or anyone here) heard of or is watching an anime series called Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge ? It's called "The Wallflower" in English.
I really recommend it; don't be put off by the horror part as it is mostly a comedy anime.
Quote from chocolate;
"By the way, I was wondering if you (or anyone here) heard of or is watching an anime series called Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge ? It's called "The Wallflower" in English."
i thought it was a pretty comical animation too ^^ just that the animation is coming to an end soon (1 ep left..) and i love to see a 2nd season for it.. well until we get to see a lady-like Sunako-chan ^-^
As for those new Spring animation, i find myself wanting to watch "Lucky Star" and "Bokurano".
"Bokurano" storyline sounds like one of the novel my boyfriend read "Swtich wo osu toki" which had also been drama-casted in GyaO. So i am looking forward to seeing how different it is.
"Lucky Star" seems to be an animation which i've looked for ward to watching animations short strips like "Azumanga Daioh" and "Kyou no 5 no 2".
Oh and Garten, I've just watched the japanese version of "Watashi no naka no kesigomu" acted by Fukada Kyouko.
http://www.ntv.co.jp/d-gold/next/20070313.html
I'll will give it a 5/5!
Darker than Black and Claymore. I read the manga version of Claymore before and I did like it. Plus Madhouse is animating it. Darker than Black...well, honestly, it was the Black Junction feature in Newtype that used Code Geass' popularity to promote it that got me interested in the series. I am quite interested in the whole contractor thing, and CC is also in that anime.XD I must say I was shocked when I saw the girl that looks exactly like CC with duller lines standing at the back of a DtB promotion poster. I wonder if she's 'one who gives out contracts'.
Claymore is Mai Hime meets Berserk
You'll love it after the initial two arcs
Bokurano! I love the manga. not too sure about the anime though... maybe watch Darker than Black....
Darker than Black is the one I am also looking the most forward too xD but Lucky Star looks like cute animation lol
I'll definetly watch:
- Victorian Romance Emma The 2nd Act (because I loved the first one)
- Darker than Black (because it's replacing Code Geass and Code Geass was replacing Blood+, so I have trust :D)
- LoveCom (because it's LOL and cute)
Then I'll try out:
- Dennou Coil (I saw the characters section in the official site and I loved it XD)
- Claymore (because many friends of mine read the manga and said itwas good)
- Bokurano (let's give Gonzo another chance)
- Seto no Hanayome (I'm also interested on the mermaid as someone said above :D)
- Terra e (because that retro-style is love)
- Romeo and Juliet (really, I want to see how bad this can be).
Obviously I won't keep following them all, usually I'm able to watch a maximun of 5 series per season, so... :D
Nothing this season really stand out to me. The only thing I will probably watch until the end is Emma season 2. I might tune in to RomeoxJuliet since I'm an Anglophile but that's pretty much it!
I am definitely gonna watch:
- Darker than Black: Animation by BONES means quality work, and the trailer looks interesting.
- Claymore: heard some good comments about it, and the pictures are appealing, will give it a try
- Emma 2: Love the first one, was disappointed with how they ended it, they left a lot of issues unresolved. Heard that the second series will be animated by a different studio, hope it won't do damage to the entire series.
- Bokurano: story sounds intriguing, animation-wise, no comment, until I start watching it.
- Saiungoku Monogatari 2nd season: story was really well-written for the 1st season, as usual, some things were left hanging so anticipating the 2nd season.
I've been waiting for Claymore anime for a very long time - It's a must watch for me!
When i started the manga i always wondered how it would be like if it was ever animated since the story started to get more and more interesting and the art is really good - then i read that indeed it will be animated and by Madhouse of all! If it was any other studio i would "hope" for a good animation especially during those fighting scenes, but with Madhouse i "know" it will be good. I can't wait~
And when i heard Romeo and Juliet animaton by Gonzo, i thought it would be a nice adaptation...then i watched the trailer._. after the trailer i was like "did the story have an unicorn in it...? or a castle in the air? or did Juliet ever got involved in a swordfight O.O"
So at this rate we know that it won't be sometihng like the original, only the main story will be based on it. However, i will definately give it a try, i have high hopes for it.
As for Bokurano..The story seems interesting, i can't say anything for now except hoping not to be too boring. Because when an Anime with an interesting plot begins, sometimes it starts to get boring for 5-10 episodes until the main arc begins ._.
Denno Coil seems pretty interesting too, I think I will be following that.
And I want to check out Seto no Hanayome – I never read the manga but I saw the images from it, and the story has the potential to make a good romance/comedy.
Other than these series I’m still following the ongoing series from 2006 (Nana, Death Note, Red Garden, Jigoku Shoujo Futakomori, etc. ) and the ones started at the beginning of 2007 (Manabi Straight, Nodame, Venus vs Virus, Sumomomo Momomo, Heiki Miina, etc.) – and these are just the ones I could think of right now. So, there’s a high possibility that I might not be able to start most of the spring season series until they get subbed for at least 3-5 episodes and I read/hear a couple of good comments about them. However, these 5 are exception, I will be following them :P Especially Claymore *_*
To whoever said Code Geass was following BLood+ .... please get your timeslots right, thanks. Code Geass did NOT follow Blood+. Ayakashi Ayashi did. Terra e is following Ayakashi Ayashi.
Also: I can understand if you think Gonzo screws up stuff. But it only shows ignorance if you say stuff like "let's hand it over to madhouse, cos I know they will create consistent animation". No! How can you say that after watching Beck and Okusama wa Joshikousei and Kiba and so on...
And it is even more ignorant if you don't even think the director counts for anything - note the director has actually direcetd at Ghibli befoer, and if you have watched his Monster eps and other episodes, they are usually featuring pretty good use of animation. Also the character designer Kenichi Konishi is one of the movie animators at Madhouse and some other places. I think they will try hard to get more consistent animation compared to the typical Gonzo standard. At the very elast it cannot be like Speed Grapher.
It could just be me, but I'm interested in almost all of what you've previewed. The only one I've read manga wise is Claymore and I'm so addicted to that story. I can't wait to see it animated.
Blacker than Black & Seirei no Moribito are the other 2 at the top of my list.
I cannot wait to see the new Neon Genesis Evangelion movies!! This year is going to be great with releases like the second season of the cult hit Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu, School Rumble's third season (I hope Harima ends up with Eri and not Tenma), Season two of Karin, and the new Stargate SG-1 movie (It's not anime, I'm just happy)
I'm pretty excited over Darker than Black, the trailer alone was fun to watch. That large wall that looks as though it was made to look the sky interests me.
I may be alone in this but I'm really looking forward to the 2nd season of Victorian Romance Emma, since it will have manga content past the introduction ;)
The art for Dennou Coil looks different, I might try it just for that reason.
I'm really interested in Lucky Star. As much as I enjoyed Azumanga Daioh and Hidamari Sketch, I figure another cute, 4koma based anime would be good for the soul. Also, hey, Kyoani!
I'm not too keen on much else, though. The sad truth is that I've pretty much had my fill of the usual fantasy/sci-fi anime.
And your Asatte no Houkou comment stings. Oh, what a train wreck that show became in the last quarter...
'And when i heard Romeo and Juliet animaton by Gonzo, i thought it would be a nice adaptation...then i watched the trailer._. after the trailer i was like "did the story have an unicorn in it...? or a castle in the air? or did Juliet ever got involved in a swordfight O.O"'
Sounds more like a Utena rip-off to me.
I totally recommend Kamichama Karin, the manga has really cute characters and it's very funny. The story may seem rush and stuff, but the romance and comedy is great. Hope the anime is as good.
Lucky Star and Gurren Lagan is what I'm going to try watching
Well, I'm sorry, but is there any actual proof (source) that backs up your claim that there's actually an Suzumiya Season 2 in production at this very moment?
I've been trying to find any info but with no luck so far.
http://www.kyotoanimation.co.jp/haruhi/
(Seems that not everything got in. Weird)
http://www.kyotoanimation.co.jp/haruhi/
plz check about lovely complex i have read the manga and its a really good shoujo you should put it in ur options too.
@ Kyouya
My wife and I have regarded Solty Rei as one of the best anime series in time period of 2005 -2006. We especially liked how each characters went through their emotional turmoil and how they all eventually embraced their extended 'family'. Its scifi concept were nice as well. While we didn't like Solty's clothing, the weirdness of it was deliberate to show how Roy didn't care about what Solty will wear and how Solty responded by 'innocently' liking the cloth just because it was Roy's choice: remember that Solty's mental capacity at this point had many, many holes in it. The only real problem of the whole series is when Integra's squad was suddenly trashed by the masked leader, but I heard that it happened to shut the series down faster since it just wasn't getting enough love from viewers. Sigh..., Why is it that most of the shows I like dies a premature death from neglect?
I am definetely interested in Darker Than Black, Gurren Lagann, Claymore, Seirei no Moribito and Dennou Coil. :)
Wontaek,
There is one thing I do regret doing when I posted earlier. I failed to take in other people's interest of the series. I should have notice fans like yourself may have enjoy the series despite how it may have turned out . For that, I apologize.
That being said....
You are supporting my arguement of how Gonzo has potential. Yes, they do have bumps here and there but I still give them a lot of credit for trying to fix their mistakes.
From an animation standpoint...Let me tell you something, people. You can't always ask for perfection. I see flaws in Kyoto Animation and J.C. Staff as well.
That's right, I said it.
Kyoto Animation focus too much on technicality of the drawing rather than being artistic. Meanwhile, J.C. Staff's main problem lately is that they have been picking up animes that results to cutting corners a lot (i.e. Nodame Canatabile, not including several episodes that fans would like to see [The Kotatsu episode and the Beach episode]).
So give Gonzo a break. They are lots of reasons for their animation work being shoddy here and there. However, that does not mean you should always lower your expectation based on old work. Pumpkin Scissors only had 2 bad episodes in terms of animation. As for Red Garden, the animation for that series has been flawless because it's been consistent and not been outsourced to other companies.
Eh. Nothing interests me particularly, except for maybe Darker Than Black. But mostly because it has an Abingdon Boys School opening.
Most likely I will watch Seirei no Moribito, because the opening is by L'Arc~en~Ciel, and I obsessed with L'Arc. Also the animation looks very nice
What is GONZO trying to pull off with Romeo x Juliet, follow the footsteps of Gankutsuou? I'm most likely going to try out Claymore and Darker than Black.
Long time since I last post a comment here. So this is my list :
1. Darker than Black => Yoko Kanno in charge of music production
2. Serei no moribito => nice design, from P.IG, the story seems appealing to me
3. Victorian Romance Emma season 2 => because I know how great the manga is after the first season, so another season to wrap it up could never be wrong.
4. Saiunkoku Monogatari season 2 => very very nice story, detailed plot, extra care given to characters, music by Ryou Kunihiko and blah blah
5. Romeo x Juliet => Because I loved Gankutsuoh
6. Lovely complex => yepp, shoujo 200% but I like the humors in the manga
7.Dennou Coil => favored by many of my friends so I'm curious to watch it .
I'd drop half of these titles after 5 eps, yes I;m very patient ^^
About the debate of GONZO XD, I'd enough bad and good experiences with their anime to actually judge them as a good or bad studio. They are just INCONSISTENT. For god's sake , they have anime that are really good like Last Exile, Gankutsuoh or Red Garden (seriously, this series is underrated) and some sucked enough to make me never want to look at them again (I dont want to give an example for it might offend other's favorite anime)
Anyway, it's just my thought.
Unless someone already pointed it out, the second season for Haruhi is just a rumor, that understandably people really picked up on.
The anime shows I'm anticipating here are:
1. Blue Dragon
2. Darker Than Black
3. Dennou Coil
4. Bokurano
5. Emma: A Victorian Romance Season 2
6. Claymore
I may have to see which ones are more important to follow up on watching them, rather than see all of them simultaneously. Claymore's storyline is more like in the medieval ages right? Bokurano...seems like a fresh story to all those shounen anime starring people who defend the planet, etc from aliens using giant robots. But this time, the realism hits home in a horrific way. Dennou Coil's artwork looks smimilar to Digimon for some reason, if I'm not wrong.
I'm looking forward to watching Ookiku furikabutte. I read the manga and I was so excited. It's a baseball manga and mainly focuses on technical and psychological part of baseball. so it is not a show-your-spirit or friendship-beats-everything kind of story.
also there are a lot of cute boys in the manga, so it turns yaoi fans crazy!

Personally, the one I'm most interested in is the Shining Tears anime. It is called Shining Tears Cross Wind, I believe.
It is based on a video game of the same name. I thought it was going to be a different story, but then I saw the characters and I realized they're using the same characters, so it's either an extension to the story (like FF7:AC) or an animated version of the game.
UInfortunately, the game itself was a bit of a flop. However, I did like the character art, and the hero was interesting in his own right; he had 3 different personalities (more like mood swings), and it was fun listening to the seiyuu (Hoshi Soichiro) act out all 3 and sing the main theme of the game.
I wonder if Hoshi Soichiro will reprise his role in this anime?
Weils-san:
"Claymore's storyline is more like in the medieval ages right?"
Yes, you can find out more about the main story on anidb or wiki etc. but i have sometinhg to say here: One of the many reasons i like about Claymore is that it doesn't always "directly" focus on the main character. We see the storyline many times from the views of other Claymores and somehow those Claymores' adventures always intersects with Clare's (the main character). It doesn't happen before part 2 of Vol. 3 though, since we see and learn more about Clare for the first 3 volumes. But when the Part "Teresa of the Faint Smile" begins we see more and more about other Claymores, how they work, what are their abilities, ranks, laws, people' attitude against Claymores, what are the "youma" and pf course: the organization.
Long story short, i can say that the actual interesting part about Claymore begins at Vol. 3 - so be patient about the anime, don't drop it after 1 or 2 epsiodes ;))
Everyone says: "Jr. Berserk" or "Mai-Hime meets Berserk" but that definately DOESN'T mean that this series is a copy of them. I think the reason these anime are being showen as examples is because if you liked them, them you might like this one too.
I will defiantly see Claymore, Darker than Black, and Hayate the Combat Butler. Plus Lovely Complex and RXJ look interesting. That's about it for me.
Doesn't Murder Princess come out this spring along with Devil May Cry?
Seto no hanayome is from the author of the infamous
My Name is ZUSHIO *which I believed was cut short due to lack of readers, either because of its downright insane sense of humor or terrible luck in finding the right readers*
seto no hanayome is a romantic comedy, but it should be viewed just because of its ridiculously weird sense of humor that goes along with the romance *if you can even call it that* and I don't know what the publishers/editors were smoking...
they should've left the author do his own crazy thing instead of romance....but I suppose it fits
Claymore is unique in that there seems to be alot of interesting character development
moreso because the author is the author of angel densetsu, for his penchant of developing idiosyncratic characters very nicely to the point of somehow being believable in a oddly amusing way
and i didn't go far with the claymore manga but I hope it reaches or even exceeds his strengths in that area
Hmm, interestingly enough, none of the shows I plan to watch next season are listed here. ^^;;
I'm planning to watch:
Emma 2 (I hope they show everything up to the end of the manga!)
Romeo X Juliet (I'm really curious what GONZO's going to do with this story since it's so well known)
and I don't know if this counts as "next season" but the Sousei no Aquarion OVA in May (because the original series was so crack-licious).
Oh, my list is quite long... anyway, it consists of:
- Hayate
- El Cazador
- Romeo x Juliet
- sola
- Kamichama Karin (even though I despise Karin)
and many, many others... I hope most of it gets subbed.
Quite frankly, this coming season of new anime does not excite as much as the past few seasons. But I'd also be lying if I said that there weren't at least a few shows that seem interesting ^^;;
CLAYMORE - I honestly don't know what to expect, but I will be sampling the first few episodes.
DARKER THAN BLACK and THE SKULL MAN - both have caught my interests. I'm curious to see how these series pan out ^_^
LOVELY COMPLEX - Out of this coming season's new offerings, this series is the only one that I originally planned to watch. *^_^*
OOKIKU FURI KABUTTE - And of course, I'm going to include something lighthearted and fun into the mix *^_^*
And as for Summer 2007...the only series that I plan to watch is DMC. I'll have to see what else is offered...and sadly they don't seem all that interesting ^^;;
So concerning the 2nd season of Suzumiya Haruhi (sorry Newprimus, I just had to look into it) Wikipedia tells people to go over to Kurogane's Anime Blog, and he says that Moon Phase was the original source, and states (quote)Moon Phase reports that the second season of Haruhi (long believed to exist and only needing confirmation) will debut in the Fall of 2007, instead of in 2008 as planned. This is, of course, good news for all of us Haruhiists. Stay tuned for official confirmation.(end quote lol) So I can't tell if that's a rumor or not...also wouldn't dates come from an official confirmation? It seems weird.
Sorry Nine, but that isn't really going to cut it. They're still blatant rumours floating around nonetheless, plain and simple. And I don't believe that KyoAni has worked on more than 1 project at the time, and now considering that they're animating Lucky Star, the possibility of KyoAni animating the new season of Suzumiya Haruhi, is less likely (but I could be wrong when I stated that they only animate one project at the time) Anyhow, a second season would mean more of the KyoAni goodness we all greed for. Sure hope it's coming soon.
As for the other series, the spring season of 2007 seem to lack of series that are promising, in comparison to the ones we all enjoyed 06. But I shouldn't take mere previews for granted. Hayate the Combat Butler, Claymore, Dennou Coil, Darken than Black and Gurren Lagann are series I'll keep an eye on, and hoping that some of them will at least be fairly adequate.
>>Nine:
There's no way Haruhi can have a second season in Fall 2007, because Clannad from KyoAni had already taken that slot. Not until next year at the earliest. I think
Wow. Not a single anime there that seems interesting. Guess this means I'll have to watch more Gundam.
Or...read books?
I'm interested in Darker than Black and Dennou Coil..
That dog seem cute.. ^^ Others don't really interest me... Hope Darker t.b will b nice..
I'm actually looking forward to Seto no Hanayome. Simple because I like the personality of the female lead and the violence against the male lead from her family. I hope it makes a good transition from manga to anime.
I've been interested in Darker Than Black since my first exposure to it. Unfortunately, after watching the trailer, I'm now almost certainly hooked on watching RxJ. I mean, seriously. Pegasi, a swordslinging Juliet, and they all live in Verona-cum-Laputa? Sold!
from all of those o.o i think Darker than Black and CLaymore are interesting ºwº uuh i just love heroes xD lol i do wish u could continue with ur great D.Gray-Man reviews o.o (oh plz plzz!! TTwTT)
This is my first time posting a comment here and please forgive me for my broken English... I just moved to US several years ago and I'm still learning English...
Anyway, I would strongly recommend Hayate the Combat Buttler (ja. ハヤテのごとく). There are many reasons, but I guess I don't need to tell all those. You will understand why when you watch the very first episode, especially if you already have Japanese senses of humor.
Dude, you list the VA and who's singing the theme songs yet don't mention the director? Where are your priorities?
Still, I do mostly agree with your list outside of LuckyStar, Kamichama Karin, Claymore and Seto no Hanayoume.
Why didn't you mention RomeoXJuliet? That's one of the Spring season's highlights, the other one is Bokurano - the manga is so awesome, but since Gonzo is making the anime I'm not sure...
But I'll porbably watch the first episode of almost all the anime (like I did in fall season 2006) to get an impression by myself.
Nanoha!
Fate =
I am definately looking forward to the second season of Emma. The first season was great and Iknw the second season will be even better. I hope someone licenses it soon.
I'm gonna watch Lovely complex (coz i need a shoujo fix every season)
Darker than black sounds good.
Romeo x Juliet, I wanna see how much the butcher it or it could turn out to be a suprise hit.
And Lucky Star because KyoAni are gods of animation :3
My top picks anyway.
i am just wondering whether where can we find the anime since it's out already now @_@
and the manga for episode 7 in english volume.erm it's claymore i mean.
tried out seto no hanayome... very very funny... i dunno, maybe it's just my type of comedy... but i say u should give the first ep a try, at least. i thought the graphics are quite good too, and the OP is great X3
well,
i know that i will follow HEROIC AGE
i already saw the first ep and it was really cool
try looking for Lovely Complex, it's a really good Shoujo.
I might be late...but how about taking up Saiunkoku Monogatari and give it a shot? It's at it's second season now.
I just watch it yesterday and it kinda reminds me why I took up this series in the first place. The RAWS is under S^M. You can always reject it if the first episode doesn't satisfy you. But it's quite a good series. :( Except the ending wasn't done by Tainaka Sachi.
Now I'll go ahead and post my commments on Kamichama Karin.
._. Just post this hours after previous one. I also want to add in Combat Butler Hayate. It might seem meaningless even the opening wasn't that inspiring but the first episode really caught my eye. A combination between Guu/Jubei-chan and a main character who looks and sounds like Allen Walker. lol XD Even the announement of the opening was quite funny.
It's comedy all the way...Try this series out too...
Toward the Terra is being remade into a series. It started a couple days back. The animation and character design look quite nice. OP and ED are also good from what i've seen.
dude this year in spring was awesome even though rtheres a bit more ime left i dont care i wish i had the money for every years anime magazine it ruled and still doze
plzzz can you upload all episode on kamichama karin , kamichamis my favorite anime soo can you upload fulll episode ??
ei!nice anime's!!hope for new updates!!^_^
Claymore is a very sick anime, it has great action, great story mode, and alot of twists, and spins that happen.
The emotional stuff as well, seen on episode 4-7 i believe, really draws you into the anime more. The first couple of episodes aren't as facinating though.
