I think I'd leave that to the real encoders who knows how to do a h264 version properly (I'm sure they'll do it as soon as they got their copy). Having said that, I'm uploading another mirror for the avi in case anyone still have difficulty downloading them.

The screencaps actually come from a different copy that I have. I didn't have the time to redo them using the copy that I uploaded here (which is higher in quality) but I'll do this as soon as I go home tonight.

when they said they were going to do the full dance version, I was expecting 3~4min full version of the song. It was a tad disappointing that they just changed the still shots to dancing moves. Somehow, it didn't feel like the movement of the mouth and the song matched perfectly. It felt more like Haruhi and them were doing lipsync.

Where did this come from? Is this from another Haruhi DVD? It shows blueprints of a "fuller" dance version. Does this mean there's yet another release? Season 2?

Just to confirm the wall movement...
It's between 0:40 and 0:44, the wall is moving from left to right and no, it's not the camera effect.

Not sure why, but i didn't really like it. Maybe is the "hand camera" effect (but, if everyone is dancing, the camera shouldn't move, true?), or maybe just the enconding, but looks a lot lower quality than the original ED.

Well, now to wait for the guys on youtube to start dancing XD

Tokyo Toshokan I think has one but it's in encoded using WMV9 codec, which should be okay if you're using PC but not if you're using Macintosh. Either way, give that a try.

What software and what settings did you use to obtain such a quality with your psp encode ? I used to use 3gpconverter but the quality is quite meh...

I now use ffmpegX for Mac with 368x208 dimension, 1500kbps, 29.97fps for video and aac 24000Hz, 32 kbps for audio.

3gp converter is the worst converter one can get since there is limited settings one can play with. I'm hesitant to recommend this since I've heard that spyware/malware gets installed as well but you may want to try PSP video 9.

About the moving wall, I think its the hand camera effect. Maybe they made someone else hold it. They do have classmates, you know...

I wonder how they animated it. Maybe they've drawn it over a real video or it's computer animation? Somehow the movements look so realistic that it clashes with the anime characters, in my opinion. It looks almost if these are real people with face masks and I don't really like the effect. I didn't notice such an effect in the concert scene of episode 12 which looked really good.

I am afraid I won't have a time to write an entry about it. But I guess I can say a bit about it here. In general, I dislike the re-shuffling mostly because some stories, which supposed to be two-parters ended up being screened on weeks which are far apart from one another. That was really annoying if you want to see the resolution right away.

I also think the series would have been stronger in terms of character development had it ended with episode 12 (where Haruhi performs with ENOZ) because that episode shows how Haruhi has changed a bit as a person. However, if that had happened, we wouldn't have seen 'Day of Sagitarius' in the first season but I figure they can always save that for 2nd season.

Having said that, it's been a few months since the show ended. As much as I dislike the re-shuffling, I don't think it's worth it to dwell on it. Plus, now that the show is on DVD (in R2 anyway and R1 version will come on March 29), we can watch it in chronological order (well, except for episode 00). It's likely that the animators purposedly re-shuffled the episode so that there'd be more incentive to buy the DVD. Well, that's pretty much what I have to say on the matter. I hope that wasn't a disappointment. :)

Actually regarding a post from looong ago, mikimel828 said that the walls were moving actually, it does. In 0:43 you can see while Haruhi and co. are standing while dancing the walls move from right to left (from our view).

I figured it out, I think.

The wall moving is due to change in depth of field while zooming. It's the same effect they use when they do that stretching hallway effect in horror movies or whatever. Except it's in reverse.
