White Knight Story trailer (WMV, 79.2MB) | YouTube version (thx to TranceKuja)
That's just awesome. I know that the majority of the trailer are composed of real-time cut scenes and CG (the last 20 seconds). However, I'm really impressed with the atmosphere that the trailer tries to convey. The game feels like an old-school RPG (Final Fantasy VII, Legend of the Dragoon). And judging from the trailer, there will be some wild places and enemies that the characters will place. The song is probably the best part of the game. I really hope they don't replace it with some different song for the Western version of the game. I know many people hate cut-scenes but I have to admit that I miss them on my RPGs. I think they are important part of a game and gives me a sense of achievement when I reach a certain part of the game. The trailer is rather big in size so it's a good idea to right click and save it on your hard drive instead of watching it through your browser. I'll post the YouTube version once there's one online.
I like the look of this game so far and agree with you that it has an good old-school RPG feel to it. I don't really mind cut-scenes when they are properly spaced out. They only get to me when they interrupt the flow of a game. An example of the latter would be Xenosaga Episode One.

Unfortunately I haven't got the chance to play that one. But yeah, I've heard similar complaints placed against that game.
Impressive. It reminds me of Laputa: Castle in the Sky especially the flying part.
Despite my complaint about the abundant cut-scenes, I still enjoy playing the game and suggest you check it out when you have the time. Xenosaga has likeable characters, an interesting plot, and some really beautiful visuals.
The trailer looks good, the game has great potential as long as its fantasy elements don't become overshadowed by the sci-fi weapons like in FF12.
I am fascinated by this series the more it is revealed to me. This is outstanding. PS3 is making itself more attractive as days go by. I am seriously taking consideration of purchasing a PS3 in the future now. The price may be worth it after watching the latest Shirokishi Monogatari trailer. I am still trying to figure out who sang that song in the trailer. Any ideas anyone?
Oh by the way, Xenosaga episode 1 had an oustanding story. I still do need to play episode 2 and 3 though :P.
I'm glad to see Sony continue diversifying their PS3 gaming portfolio. They now have racing (Gran Turismo 5, Motorstorm), FPS (Killzone 2, Resistance), adventure (Uncharted, Heavenly Sword), espionage (MGS4), creative (Little Big Planet), and RPG (White Knight Story, FFXIII). Here's hoping they'll come up with the new ICO series and a new Forbidden Siren. At the start I was afraid that they're going to end up with too much FPS.
Hey Garten, I uploaded the video on Youtube. Here ya go!

Woot! Thank you so much, TranceKuja!
Yeah, the game really looks awesome. And yeah, the PS3 is starting to get a lot of steam after E3 2-3 weeks ago. Metal Gear Solid 4 was demoed in Japan 2 hours ago, it's a 15 minute long demo and they're putting it out online tonight at 12 Midnight Japan time, I'll be scouring the internets as well around that time. But from the impressions of the 1up, IGN and Kotaku, the game seems like it will kick butt.
Back to White Knight Stories, I've heard some rumors that the game will be playable at TGS this year, but it's a rumor, but it will definitely appear on TGS.
The game did look awesome. Until the dude transformed like a Power Ranger. Then it just gave me the irks. But, if I had a PS3, I would definitely give the game a go.
Actually Level 5 confirmed it will indeed be playable.
Can't wait for this to come out in the US if it ends up as good as it looks... the PS3 needs some decent RPGs >.>;
The armors remind me of the Guymelfs of Escaflowne in a way.
The quality of the video is fantastic. does anybody know the name of the song in the trailer by any chance?
I’m trying to put this video on my PS3 but when I convert it, the quality turns to shit. Do you have the original ps3 video by any chance? I want to see this with HD quality on Playstation. Would you mind please uploading the original (if you have it)?

Try the mp4 file from Gamersyde
This trailer did nothing for me I'm afraid. Graphically it reminded me of the stuff Level-5 were doing in the first Dark Cloud game, only obviously for the PS3 this time and more sophisticated. Still, it has that bloated awkward feeling to its character models; almost like they haven't fully tapped the hardware yet (ala Dark Cloud 1 with the PS2).
Aesthetically it looks pretty trope-ridden and uninspired. I thought of fifty /other/ RPGs as I watched and got no unique sense of its own personality.
And on yet another down note, the story/characters of (original) Level-5 RPGs tend to, I find, suck complete balls. Perhaps White Knight Story will break the mould, but after the disappointment of Rogue Galaxy (plot/character-wise) I've lost a bit of faith in Level-5.
