Oh yeah, I'm still alive all right. I've just been a bit busy with other things lately that I've been neglecting the blog a bit. This show, on the other hand, feels dead and stagnant. I actually wonder when it will end halfway through watching the episode. There are still some good jokes from time to time but in comparison to the previous episode, this one feels weak in comparison. I also never knew that Christmas party and New Year celebration can be dull. But this show proved me wrong. I actually feel sorry for the characters for having to endure such a boring party. To make things worse, the new girl, whom I expect to make things more interesting doesn't seem to be that interesting after all.

The episode is basically about the Christmas party and New year celebration. The first half of the episode focuses on the upcoming Christmas party that will happen at Tominaga's house. Everyone in the class are invited, even Nakayama, who is actually not from the same class as the others. Nakayama and Watabe seem to be quite chummy with one another lately. This, however, pisses off Seki and Kobayashi, neither of whom has got either girlfriend/boyfriend. Once the party started, Oyaji get sick so he ended up sleeping all the way through the party. So did I. Some people, however, are luckier. In Kudo's case, for example, he gets a soccer ticket from Suetake. While he's not keen on the sport itself, he is happy to be able to go out with Suetake.
The second half of the episode is about the class going out together on New Year's Day to pray at a nearby temple. Mika-sensei tries to show off her new Kimono but after hearing the sort of 'praise' that her father, mother, and Kitagawa given, she decided that she's not happy anymore. Meanwhile, Matsumoto-sensei tries to drown her sorrow in alcohol after her failed blind date during the Christmas night. Kudo, on the other hand, ends up showing off his trademark nosebleed after Suetake tells him that they should walk together so they don't get lost in the crowds. The episode ends with Mika-sensei praying at the temple for the well being of everyone that she knows but later on regrets it when she realises that she's approaching 30 years old and should have asked for something different.

Impression:
This is a very boring episode in general. Only Mika and Kudo are mildly interesting here. The rest of the characters are just...there. Also remember when I said I wish Nakayama would make Watabe more interesting? Forget about it. Sure he now has a girlfriend but that doesn't make him any more interesting that he used to be. Nakayama also ends up being another background character like the majority of the female characters in this show whose name are not Mika and Kitagawa. Oh well, thankfully only 6 more episodes to go so it will not be as painful for me to continue blogging this show.
