I am a bit bored with this series at the moment. The jokes seems to be quite similar from episode to episode and there aren't many development happening to the characters. I supposed this is the same problem I had with Azumanga Daioh. In both cases, I like the characters well enough to keep me watching until the end but there will always be times when I wish that the series has a stronger story that drives each episode. I think this episode is especially problematic because I don't find the short scenarios that the characters are involved in to be that interesting.

The episode itself begins with everyone coming back to the school after the long holiday. The biggest surprise for Mika-Sensei is, of course, finding some of the students looking extremely tanned. Apparently during Summer break, Suetake plays too much sport on the field and his skin is fried as a result. Similarly, Kobayashi spends her entire holiday working near the beach and gets sun-kissed as well. Well, not everyone has tanned skin, though. Iincho, Tominaga, and Kitagawa seem to retain their normal skin color although their Summer holiday are surprisingly predictable as the rest.
Mika-Sensei then concludes that everyone's Summer holiday is boring but the students protest her and tell her that her Summer holiday probably involves her doing nothing but sleeping all day, much to Mika's embarassment. I supposed gone are the days when teachers are respected by their students. Seki then tells everyone that contrary to everyone else, his Summer holiday was fantastic. Well, it looks like what is fantastic to him turns out to be exteremely horrifying for everyone else in the class. This one you have to see yourself to appreciate the humour.

The second part of the episode deals with Mika-Sensei's attempt to persuade her students to read books and then later on, to participate in sketching contest. Of course as usual, she fails on both counts. The only book that Kobayashi is interested to read is a diet book. Similarly, Suetake is only interested to read manga while Iincho puts her attention on Koro-chan related books. I haven't paid attention before, but during this particular scene I noticed how Iincho's VA has a quite distinct way of voicing the character. I can definitely feel Iincho's excitement when she talks about the book to the point that her intonation makes me want to grin wide.
Anyway, the next day Mika takes her students to a local park so they can sketch the landscapes of the park. Kudo and Kitagawa, however, can't resist the idea of trying to draw their favourite person. Elsewhere, Tominaga and Kobayashi see Iincho and Oyaji praising each other on their drawing ability, leading Kobayashi to think that maybe there will be a relationship developing between the two. The funniest part of this story, however, is when Kobayashi gets carried away in her imagination of bathing in a pool of money when in reality, that said pool of money is nothing more than a bunch of leaves in the parks.
