The items that I sent to myself from Japan has finally arrived here after 1.5 months. That will teach me not to use SeaMail to send anything from Japan but I was kind of strapped for cash back then. As a side note, this post is probably a lot easier to understand if you read a related post I wrote in Kongetsu. There are few shops reference which I didn't bother to elaborate here but did so in the other post. I realise that I haven't been using that blog for a while but now I think I'll continue writing on that one as well. I'll mostly just going to use that blog to record my experince back in Japan. I realise that the content will not be up to date anymore but if you're interested, feel free to read it.
Some of the items I managed to get include these two Bleach keychains. There are actually quite a lot of anime-related keychains being sold in Japan but most of them are the character-based types which I am not interested to obtain. This is why I was really glad when I saw these Zangetsu and Zabimaru keychains inside Jump Shop in Nagoya. The keychains will set you back around 700 Yen each (around $6) which is quite expensive in comparison to other keychains you can buy in Japan. But in comparison to the $20 you'll have to pay if you buy this online, I think it's a bargain. I don't usually like keychains but the craftmanship in this one is very good. You can see the thickness of the metal and how they purposedly made sure that the metal looks old and corrosive instead of shiny. If these were any bigger, I think I can use it to hurt someone. :P
I also managed to get a Batman Begins Shitajiki (pencil board) and promotional booklet. These items were purchased at a cinema where I went to see the film. In Japan, each cinema usually sells movie-related memorabilia of the movie that is currently playing there. It made me wish that I was there when Battle Royale was being screened in the cinema. I really want to get a promotional booklet for that film. Anyway, if I remember correctly, these two items costs me around 1000 Yen (around $11). I think each cost around 300 Yen and 700 Yen although I don't remember which price corresponds with which item. I also managed to get tons of books, manga and magazines ranging from Honey and Clover to Clamp no Kiseki but I'm too lazy to take their pictures since you can just go online and look for the covers of these books/manga.
A few days ago, I also received the items I ordered from Amazon Japan. One of the items is the Ima Ai ni Yukimasu boxset. I have to say that this is one of those boxset that is actually worth the asking price. The items included in the boxset are: 2 DVD-set, a Diary similar to the one that Mio has in the film, a photo album detailing some moments in the film, and an upside down Teru Teru Bouzu doll. The box itself, unfortunately, doesn't look that good. The image used on the box looks as if it's been taken from a screencap. Thankfully, the quality of the other items are really good. The DVD is presented in 16:9 format anamorphic with simple but functional menus. The extras on the first disc contains various trailers used to promote the film. The second DVD contains a documentary, interviews with the actors, and a video of the film's premiere night.
Please do not link directly to these images. If you are interested the boxset, here is some of the details:
Ima Ai ni Yukimasu DVD Box (Limited Release)
Format: R2 NTSC
Price: 8000 Yen ($73.44 US Dollars)
aha! you've updated Kongetsu!
I wonder if those Shijitaki has any practical use... i used to think they were mousepads o.O
Shitajiki (at least the one in A4 size) does help you a little bit if you have to write on a piece of paper and there is no table around you.
But I don't know anyone who's willing to ruin their Shitajiki by pressing a hard pen into it. Well, I guess if I don't care about the illustration printed on it, I'll use it. Otherwise, I usually just stare at them. :)
Whoa, the Zabimaru keychain looks quite nice! Props on getting such a wicked deal :)
I got the Zangetsu at a convention this past weekend (Ai-Kon in Winnipeg, MB, Canada if anyone cares).
They had it for $15 CDN which comes to....*quickly opens up a currency converter* $12.50 US or 1366 Yen. Not too bad now that I`ve read about the internet prices.
I flipped when I read the `Jump Festa 2005` on it though. Wish I could`ve bought the Renji one too though (probably would have bought the necklace though.
I think you can find them at only $6.99 here: http://www.399animeshop.com/anime/bleach/soul-slayer-zangetsu-keychain.php
