Opening Theme: 「せんちめんたる じぇねれ〜しょん」 - Sentimental Generation by Tokito Ami (17.5MB for PSP/Quicktime)
Well, the series has officially start again and it doesn't disappoint. First of all, the opening and ending are not too bad even though I'm not too keen on both song. Neither song are as energetic as Scramble or Onna no Ko rabu Otoko no Ko. I also think that the producer should have hired Horie Yui and Ogura Yuuko to sing the opening and ending theme again. I find it weird that the same singer gets to sing both songs. It's not that Tokito Ami is a bad singer but having her doing both songs makes it seem as if the producer is trying to save their budget. And that's not a good impression to give to the viewers. Having said that, thankfully this episode itself is quite good. There are some good moments between Harima and Yakumo in this episode that I hope will continue in future episodes.

The episode opens with the class playing a samurai period drama where Tenma and Yakumo are poor shop owner working hard to earn money for their sick father. When an evil landlord trying to take Yakumo, Tenma asks him to take her instead but he doesn't want to since Tenma is not pretty enough. Hanai tries to defend Yakumo's pride but ends up getting bashed by the other Samurai. Thankfully Harima arrives and defeats the evil samurai. After the opening, Harima gives a brief background explanation about his rivalry with Karasuma for Tenma's affection. He is now ready to confess to Tenma after receiving a postcard that lets him know that he won a special prize from the publisher of his manga. Unfortunately for him, Tenma is in the middle of scolding Yakumo for spending late nights with Harima. Harima tries to explain the situation to Tenma but only make things worse and ends up telling Tenma that he promises to make Yakumo happy.
In the second half of the episode, Tenma goes to the class only to see Karasuma in the middle of practicing his guitar. Tenma then starts imagining that she joins the band and the band is getting a contract. The only problem is that Tenma is not allowed to be with the band. Tenma is depressed from seeing her own imagination so Karasuma decides to cheer him up....by giving her a turtle and saying 'Kamekichi'. Tenma spends her entire night trying to figure out what Karasuma meant by this. The next day, Harima and Yakumo start to get in trouble because everyone thinks she and Harima are going out together. Eri gives her cold looks while on the other side, Harima gets into fight with Hanai because of this. Except that Hanai doesn't seem to have the power to even punch Harima. Things get even more problematic when Yakumo gives Harima a bento containing a heart-shaped rice. All of a sudden, however, Class 2-D comes to challange them in the cultural festival. The episode then ends with a joke about the boys losing their data on the girls' bust sizes.
Impression:
I really love the first episode mostly because of the suggestion of romance between Harima and Yakumo. I like the fact that Harima can't flat out say "No, we're not involved" even though that is the truth. I also love the fact that Yakumo blushes every now and then everytime someone mentions that she and Harima are dating. Speaking of Yakumo aka Mamiko Noto, I noticed one Jigoku Shoujo reference when Yakumo's head appears like a giant in front of Hanai. And the ending sequence where the boys dress up looking as if they are a member of SEELE (from Evangelion) and display data stats on their female classmates was hilarious. I can't help but laughing when I realised that the stats look similar to Naruto's ninja ability in the official Naruto guidebook. And you have to see the conclusion to this part when the boys' computer are infiltrated by virus just like in End of Evangelion, but somehow found one file that has not been deleted. Check out the last screenshot to see what is that file. ;)

Ending Theme: 「この涙があるから次の一歩となる」 - Kono Namida ga aru kara, Tsugi no Ippo to Naru by Tokito Ami (7.9MB for PSP/Quicktime)
Let's just say that I am not crazy about the ending theme. It's just not as fun to listen to as Ogura Yuuko's Onna no Ko rabu Otoko no Ko. I also miss Yuuko's cute voice and the playful tone of that other song. This one feels a bit dry in comparison but maybe I'll get used to it soon.
A most auspicious start to a new semester which stangely coincides witht the start of the thrice cursed quarter system.
I agree Ogura Yuuko's Onna no Ko rabu Otoko no Ko will be missed. Poor Hanai hopefully the school festival will go off with a bang! Any one want to compete to see how many guns one can spot? It wouldn't suprise me if most of them end up being H&K or French.
The last file was a coup de grace, should have been a full moon though.
Does this means that the claws are out? I'm sure Eri can't stand having another girl competing for Harima's affection.
This was a pretty good first episode. Although it would have been more interesting if they'd actually followed through with the ridiculous ending preview from the first season (the one with all the guns). Guess we'll have to wait for that one.
The person in the car in the last OP screenshot....I think it's the art teacher Sasakura Youko instead of Anegasaki Tae. That car is hers too.
Eri seemed more sad and disheartened than cold and angry when she met Yakumo in that scene. Watch her eyes after she gives that half-hearted smile - it's similar to the look that she gives Tenma back in S1 Ep.13. It completely lacks the intensity of the glare that she gave Yakumo in S1 Ep.24.
I agree with tkhm, there is a detail list of the characters in Wannabe Fansub Site. For everyone who's a bit rusty on the characters. I know it's hard since there are so many of them.
This episode itself is quite good. But I'm actually waiting for next week's episode because that's when the cultural festival will start.
Thanks for the correction, guys. It's been fixed now. They look remarkably alike though.
i was ROFLMAO-ing when i read "ippen shindemiru" comment on the pix, LOL that was a good one!
How many episodes will this season have? Another 26 or just 13?
So far, its believed to be 13 episodes long from the available airing schedule. So it could be just 13 episodes, or they still need to update. Heres hoping for more eps, 13 seems way too short for SR.
The gun business will be in episode 2, as the preview showed some bits from that. This is the leadup to the gun battle arc.
I watched this a few hours ago and I can't wait for the next episode! This series always puts a smile on my face even though I may be sulky at the time. I agree about the songs but they weren't so bad. Maybe we 'll grow to like them! I can't help but stress out every time Harima tries to approach Tenma and confess. Although I would like him to realize he has feelings for others as well and end up with either Yakumo or Eri. Eri has finally found someone to love. Please choose her Harima!!! Oh, Tenma's wiggly hair is so funny! School Rumble Forever! xD
I really hate these COMBO HORROR music (OP/ED) This girl sings like a dying person... I wonder when animes will realize that most japanese people don't know how to sing and, sometimes, even when the music is good the voice just SCREWS UP every last drop of decency the music had. WHY EVERYBODY WITH CUTE FACE THINK THEY CAN SING? This just infantilizes animes making them assume just what they are steriotyped for.... ¬¬
My wife thinks that Harima is very cute.
Strange how perceptions can differ. I actually think that from the musical aspect, the ED is among the very best I've heard in a long, long time, and I feel tempted to buy the song when it's out...
Anyway, great to see that the show is back ^_^
*Pledges allegiance to the Kids meal faction, with a slight preference for flag*
Well xD,actually i liked the OP,the ED is a little...Well,it is little cool =D,But the OP i liked a lot,It has the same Style of the 1st,Cool and Funny =D!But it's my opinion \o!
This is a great first episode from Sukuran. I like the fact that Harima never really can say it out loud that he actually likes Tenma-chan. That is what keeping the misunderstanding going, and like Mr. Kobayashi said himself in an interview from ANN : " if there’s no misunderstandings, then there’s no funny story. "
About the Opening and Ending. The Opening was quite good really. It was energic and funny, but not as energic as Scramble, though. The Ending was quite a suprise, I must admit. There, you can feel the lonelyness everyone's experiencing. It's a quite a serious song if we disregard all the laughs and happiness. And if we look beneath them, there's yearning and desires among all of them
I'm looking forward for what the next episode has in store for us.
Until then!
LOL I was actually surprised that there is season 2 for School Rumble (or maybe it was just me being really dumb). Anyways, I seriously enjoyed this anime! It is so sweet and funny XD!! But i still think HONEY AND CLOVER is the best romance/drama/comedy anime ever!
the data stats were directly based off the character bios from the manga - not the naruto guidebook. Although both have their origins from somewhere else.
School Rumble Niggaki (2nd Term/Semester) Ecchi and violence level is rissing. But it's still funny and entertaining. This time the opening theme song is much better, but the ending is mellow...duh >.
it might be a bit late to say this, but I'm certain that it's Sagano Megumi in the second picture, not Tenma.
argh, i've tried waiting, but the download slots for my country seems eternally booked @@
would it be too much trouble to upload Sentimental Generation into a different download site?
Where can you get School Rumble 2nd Term?
