Rozen Maiden träumend: Series Info

If I have to choose which series I look forward the most this Fall season then this series will have to be it. Ever since I saw the opening of the first season, I knew that there's something that I'd like about the series. I've always loved creepy dolls, especially the ones that often appear in RPG games like Shadow Hearts. Later on I found out that the creep factor of the series is actually quite minimal. Thankfully the series turned out to be interesting despite its initial appearance. It also has one of the better open ending in comparison to other series. Anyway, the new season will be upon us soon. I'm quite excited to see it and hope that it'll be as good as the original. In the meantime, feel free to use this as a guide to the series. Just be aware that there are some minor spoilers about the first episode in one of the paragraphs.

About the series
Rozen Maiden: Träumend is a continuation of its predecessor, Rozen Maiden, a 12 episodes series about Sakurada Jun and his encounter with series of unique dolls called Rozen Maiden. The series was basically consists of two main plots. The first one involves Jun's personal battle against Hikikomori syndrome while the other is about the dolls' interest in a strange battle called Alice Game. The first series managed to properly develop Jun while giving resolution to the antagonism created by one of the dolls called Suigintou. However, there are other parts of the story which were not addressed well such as the concept of Alice Game itself or the identity of the dolls creator, who is only known as 'Father'. Judging from the promo trailer, the new series intends on continuing these unfinished threads from the first season by putting its focus on Alice Game right from the start.

The new series will also bring about some new characters. They'll come in the form of two new dolls, Barasuishou and Canaria, and two new male characters called Shirosaki and Enju. Not much is known about the two dolls except that Barasuishou seems to be the new contender for the antagonist position. Similarly, the only information known about the humans is that the two are friends who work together inside a doll shop. There is also a possibility for a return of an old character. Although judging from the summary of the first episode on the official site, the character's appearance so far is limited to being some kind of a manifestation within another character's dream. With the manga telling a rather different story from the anime, it seems the new season will offer some interesting twist on the fate of the dolls and the Sakurada family.
