Rozen Maiden träumend 6: Angel - Preview (MP4, 4.7MB, for PSP/Quicktime) - Mirror

I get the impression that some people are more interested to see the preview for episode 6 than this episode itself. So if you don't mind a little bit of spoiler, feel free to download the small MP4 file that I provided above. I'd also like to use this opportunity to pimp my re-done old episodes. TBS has actually been screening this series in the pan and scan format and BS-i gets to be the one that screens the awesome widescreen version. Unfortunately the widescreen is not available 3 weeks after the original airdate and I can't wait that long to watch the series. The solution? I'll just redo the screenshots in widescreen format a few weeks later. I've done this for the first episode as well as the opening intro video. There is also a Pan and Scan vs. Widescreen comparison for this series if you want to see it.

Anyway, this episode itself starts with Canaria talking about how she's now on her 72nd attempt to obtain the other dolls' Rosa Mystica and keen to change her high failure rate. Because of this, she starts by opening her bento box. Canaria believes that breakfast provides the energy that she needs to achieve this difficult task. However, just as she proclaims "Itadakimasu" and about to devour her Tamagoyaki (sweet eggroll), a crow zooms in, attacks her, then takes away the sweet eggroll. Poor Canaria. I know I shouldn't laugh if I feel sorry for her but it was too funny not to do this. Meanwhile inside the house, HinaIchigo is having fun drawing pictures of everyone in the house. Next to her, Souseiseki is happily writing a letter for the grandpa and grandma that she lives with to thank them for taking care of Suiseiseki all of these times.

Meanwhile inside his room, Jun is seen practicing English with one of those handy cards. In Japan, you can get one at 100-Yen shop for...you guessed it, 100 Yen ($1). Anyway, Jun manages to remember what 'Awake' means in Japanese but kind of forget what 'Behind' means until he realises that Shinku is behind him. He blushes and immediately remembers that 'Behind' is 'Ushiro' in Japanese. The small incident, however, doesn't go unnoticed by Suiseiseki who's clearly jealous that Jun hasn't spend much time with her ever since he became her Master. As she complains her way down the stairs, she bumps into HinaIchigo who wonders what Suiseiseki is talking about. Suiseiseki immediately panics and blurts it out that she's not jealous (Yakimochi) of Jun and Shinku at all. Hina, however, doesn't know what the word means and thinks that it's actually Grilled Mochi (Yaki Mochi).

Outside the house, the crow that took Canaria's Tamagoyaki is now crowing 'Aho, Aho, Aho', while Canaria cries for the lost of her Tamagoyaki. Back inside the house, Suiseiseki has come up with the plan to clean up the house to win Jun's heart. In order to bait HinaIchigo into helping her, she tells the doll that they'll probably get Egg-topped Hamburger if they do this. If only HinaIchigo knows the scary imagination that Suiseiseki has in her mind. There's just one problem: the two don't know how to use the vacuum cleaner. So it's up to Souseiseki to give the two some pointers. However, since Suiseiseki is impatient, the minute the machine doesn't work, she decides to wave it around like a madman...or mad doll in her case. To cut the story short, the vacuum cleaner flies through the window and almost killed a curious Canaria in the process.

Jun and Shinku heard the noise so the two go down to check it out. But when they arrive there, the dolls have covered up the broken window. Since the first plan to make Jun happy ended up in failure, Suiseiseki comes up with a plan to make lunch for Jun. However, while preparing said lunch, HinaIchigo dumps yoghurt and chocolate into Suiseiseki's dish so the entire thing ends up in disaster. Since this plan doesn't work either, Suiseiseki decides to boil Jun an egg in the microwave or is that mini-oven? I can't tell especially since in Japan microwave can double as mini-oven as well. Anyway, the egg eventually blows up so Jun and Shinku go down again and this time they finally see what's going on. Jun becomes angry at Suiseiseki and HinaIchigo but when Souseiseki tells him that the two did it for his sake, he mellows out and tries to calm a scared HinaIchigo.

Suiseiseki, who doesn't get similar treatment, becomes jealous and proceeds to kick Jun's leg. As Jun lies on the floor in pain, Shinku gets to be the one who restores the window and all of the mess that the other dolls have made. She then puts the...thing that HinaIchigo and Suiseiseki made outside, hoping that either bird or cat will eat it. Well, Canaria is quite willing to eat it as well but once again, the crow is faster than her. But this is actually a good thing for her because the food seems quite poisonous. Meanwhile inside the house, HinaIchigo wants to send a letter. Suiseiseki who finds out about this decides to scare HinaIchigo by making up a story about how post-box is actually a big scary monster. Later on, when she finds out that the letter is actually to thank Jun, she decides to steal the idea and send her letter first. Suiseiseki can be such an evil doll sometimes.

Anyway, because HinaIchigo still want to send her letter, she decides to ask for Souseiseki's help. But Souseiseki is quickly dragged away by her evil twin sister so she can't give any assistance to Hina in sending the letter. Souseiseki is not amused by her sister's action and wonders what this is all about. But Suiseiseki only says that she has something important to say and giggles her way through before running away from her twin sister. Meanwhile, HinaIchigo decides to ask Shinku to accompany her outside but as Shinku's mind is on Kun Kun mode, she just repeats whatever Kun Kun says on screen. So when Kun Kun says it's dangerous to go outside, she tells HinaIchigo it's dangerous to go outside. This is because there are cats outside and she thinks cats are like, the most dangerous thing on this earth...well, to a doll maybe.

Shinku even goes further and claim that a long time ago, her slave actually owned a cat...that ate her doll key and traumatised her in the process. Anyway, because Hina can't convince Shinku to go out with her, she decides to sneak out from the toilet. Meanwhile, Suiseiseki is about to give her letter to Jun when the toilet door opens wide and slams her to the side. It turns out Canaria has managed to penetrate the house again and she has a Gun!! Kids, don't do this at home! At the same time, HinaIchigo is seen walking outside accompanied by Berrybell. Inside the house, Suiseiseki panics when she sees Canaria pointing a gun at her. Unfortunately for Suiseiseki, the gun contains water which inevitably destroys her letter. Suiseiseki is not happy about this but before she can do anything, Jun opens the toilet door and smash the two dolls against the wall.

Meanwhile HinaIchigo's trip to the outside world takes her to a nearby river. She eventually lands on top of a cat that takes her all around the city. Meanwhile, Jun is worried about Hina so he decides to look outside. Along the way, we get to see Shirosaki, that creepy-looking doll shopkeeper, welcoming a customer who wants to get her order. At the same time, Hina manages to find a post-box but realises that she can't reach the hole. So she jumps up and almost falls down if Tomoe wasn't there to catch her. On their way back home, Tomoe tells Hina that she's happy to see the change in Hina. Jun then appears halfway through the road, so Hina ends up going back with him. Meanwhile Canaria is seen back inside a house owned by her master, who turns out to be the girl who ordered something from Enju Doll. She turns out to be quite an obsessive doll fan as well. And oh, Jun eventually receives his mail but can't understand a thing because Hina's handwriting is not readable.

Impression:

I couldn't stop laughing from start to finish when I watched this episode. Some of the scenes were just too disturbingly funny. For example, check out the scene where Suiseiseki imagining Jun worshipping her. And did you hear Shinku's shocked voice when she found out about the vacuum cleaner? In addition to this, it seems every funny scene in this episode leads to an even funnier one. Some of my favourite scenes include the crow saying "Aho, Aho, Aho", Shinku turning hysteric after remembering her 'tragic past' with a cat, and Canaria's scary master. Anyway, since there isn't anything particularly important about this episode I'll just talk a little bit about episode 6 preview. Wow. I mean, I already knew about this because the spoiler wasn't exactly the best guarded secret in the world but still, seeing Suigintou and her would be master, Megu, was a treat. I really can't wait to see next week's episode.

I had a chance to take a look at the widescreen version too, and while the episode itself looks awesome, I'm quite disappointed that the OP and ED animations of the widescreen version actually show less than the 4:3 counterpart. Seems like the OP and ED of the widescreen version are more or less cropped variants of the 4:3 ones.

I think the spirit that went with Hina Ichigo is her own spirit, Berrybell, not Hollie.

The preview. Looks like the episode is going to be serious. I am surprised you found it funny. But it looks really great.

mangaka-chan, oops, you're right. Hina did call for BerryBell. I am sorry I wasn't paying attention to that particular scene before but it's fixed now.

Yuki, it's episode 5 itself that made me laughed, not the preview. I don't consider preview as a part of an episode.

Although the letter isn't in the same chapter as the scrambled egg (and yeah, Suiseiseki said "Denshi Renji", so she definitely nuked the egg) or vacuum cleaner of death, it was a nice touch to the episode and a great development of Hina. The reunion with Tomoe was touching, as well.

Looks like another significant part of volume 5 will be in episode 6. Since Shinku said that Suigintou didn't have a Medium in season 1, this either means that Suigintou will make a return appearance, or it will be talking about the past, where Megu would make an appearance, but the contract somehow expires before the events of season 1.

Wait...so the anime is still trying to connect with the manga? I thought they were going to be two completely different storylines? And Megu looks...odd. She doesn't have that cute look in the manga. I really hope the preview look on her doesn't end up being how she'll look like the whole series. We need some cute Megu-Suigintou moments!

Anyway, as for episode 5, loved it, especially with Suiseiseki fantasizing about Jun bowing down to her. Yes, bow down to her awesomeness! Too bad Jun completely ignored her...poor Suiseiseki...she needs some love too.

From what I can tell, I think the director meant that how the story ends in the anime (probably in regard to the Alice Game) will be very different from the manga. There are a number of great moments in the manga that they probably wanted animated (so ep 5 ends up as somewhat of a filler episode).

Suiseiseki: O_O!? What are you doing, you stupid Ichigo?!

Hinaichigo: I'm going to put in "unyu," too!
