This episode doesn't actually have that many action scenes. They seem to be reserved for next week's episode. Moreover, it's hard to believe that there are only two more episodes left. How will the writers be able to wrap this up neatly? For some reason, I thought there will be another episode after 12. In that case, I think they can end the series rather well. As it is now, however, I am not too sure. But here's hoping for the best. If it doesn't work, maybe the writers will consider a third season. Although in my opinion, third season will be rather moot since the majority of Alice Game issues have almost been dealt with in this season. I hope the series won't cop out in the end and reveals that 'Father' is actually just an imposter because that will seriously bring the writing quality down. As a final note, it seems we're not going to see Odille in the anime.

When the episode starts, Suigintou and Suiseiseki are seen flying towards Souseiseki's Rosa Mystica. However, due to Suiseiseki's attempt to gain her twin sister's body first, Suigintou manages to grab Souseiseki's Rosa Mystica. Suiseiseki asks Suigintou to hand over the Rosa Mystica but Suigintou refuses on the ground that she won this one. Becuase of this Suigintou proceeds to consume Souseiseki's Rosa Mystica and upon doing this, her body begins to glow purple/blue. She then tells herself that her body feels warm and thinks that it's the power of Rosa Mystica. Meanwhile, Shinku who sees everything from the ground realises that Suigintou is serious about this and becomes angry. Suigintou laughs at Shinku's decision to still not fight. She calls her sister 'Obaka-san' and proceeds to attack her with her feathers. This time Shinku has no choice but to raise her kekkai to protect herself and HinaIchigo. At the same time, Barasuishou is closing in and calling them 'weak'.

Before Barasuishou can satiate her appetite for broken limbs, however, Suigintou starts to throw more of her feathers into the ground, effectively stopping Bara. As she escapes into an N-Field, Suigintou tells Bara that unfortunately she has no intention on following what Bara wants to do. Laplace demon then appears and offers another N-Field as a mean of escape for Shinku and the others. He, however, tells them that they better hurry and not ask for any reason. Because of this, Shinku and the others have no choice but to retreat for now. Upon reaching Jun's house, the dolls are grieving for Souseiseki. Shinku tells the other that this is 'Alice Game', prompting Suiseiseki to remember of the time when Souseiseki and her had a conversation about the game. Back then Souseiseki wondered if they also have to fight once Alice Game starts. Suiseiseki, however, told her twin that she refused to fight and become Alice if it means that she has to take her twin's Rosa Mystica.

Souseiseki tought that her twin was strong and Suiseiseki agreed and in return asked Souseiseki not to say strange things like that again. She, however, also admitted that she was strong because her twin always protected her. Back in the present, Suiseiseki cries over what no longer could be realised. Shinku tries to tell Suiseiseki that Souseiseki wouldn't want to see her twin looking this sad but this doesn't seem to work on Suiseiseki as she cries on Shinku's shoulder. They then put Souseiseki in her box while Shinku tells Suiseiseki that even if Souseiseki's soul is far away now, one day they can surely meet again. So right now, Souseiseki is just sleeping for a little while. As the dolls close Souseiseki's box, however, HinaIchigo suddenly finds herself feeling dizzy and her eyes, out of focus. Meanwhile, Suigintou is seen returning to a sleeping Megu and tries to channel her newfound power into Megu's ring. In the middle of doing so, however, she's interrupted by Barasuishou.

Bara tells Suigintou that she can't save Megu unless she has all of the Rosa Mystica. Suigintou is pissed off and tells Bara that in that case she'll have her Rosa Mystica. But before she can proceeds with her threat, Megu is awake, giving Bara a chance to slip out. Megu suddenly smiles upon seeing Suigintou, surprising the doll. She asks Megu why she's smiling. Megu doesn't know the reason but she think it's because of the warm and bright light that emerges from the ring. She tells Suigintou that she likes the light and for some reason this makes Suigintou smiles. At the same time, Jun tries to ask Enju if he can fix Souseiseki. Enju thinks it's possible but he thinks that even if he fix it, he can't return it to the way it was. Once the soul left, it can't return. Nooo. Meanwhile, behind the curtain, Shirosaki and Barasuishou are seen smiling in delight upon hearing Enju's words. When Jun returns to his house, more bad news awaits him: HinaIchigo is in unconscious state.

Shinku tells him that soon, HinaIchigo's Rosa Mystica will leave her body. Shinku reminded him how Hina lost in a battle and consequently lost her ring as well. Right now she's powered by Jun through Shinku. However, after Souseiseki's Rosa Mystica was taken, this is no longer allowed. Because of this, Hina can no longer reach Jun's power and uses it. After Shinku said this, however, HinaIchigo awakes and begins to cheerily greet Jun. Shinku and Jun then agree to let Hina spend her last few hours with Tomoe. Jun even left a box full of Ichigo Daifuku for Hina to eat at Tomoe's house. Before Jun can leave, however, Hina asks him to wait so she can give him a used crayon. Later on, when Hina is busy drawing, Tomoe sees a coin in Hina's playbox and remembers of the time when Hina was angry at her because she came home late. Back then, in order to cheer Hina up, Tomoe decided to use the coin to play magic trick. As expected, Hina cheered up right away.

Tomoe also remembers the time when HinaIchigo was still afraid of Jun and therefore she hid her stuff in the box at Tomoe's house. She said back then that when Jun is no longer scary, she'll pick it up again. Back then Hina was hoping that this way she'll get to meet Tomoe again. Back in the present, Tomoe suggests that she and Hina play some sort of game. So Hina suggests that they play Hide and Seek. Tomoe then begins counting while Hina is looking for a place to hide. In the middle of doing so, however, Hina loses her balance and falls over. Hina tries to stand again but it is obvious that her mechanism doesn't allow her to do it as easily now. At the same time, Jun is seen entering the Enju shop and judging from his expression, it seems as if he was expecting someone. However, much to his surprise, no one seems to be inside the shop. Meanwhile inside the house the rest of the dolls are watching Kun-Kun. I must say that it was amusing to see Canaria looking upset at the crow.

Shinku, on the other hand, is busy looking at her watch. After the minute hand reaches a certain point, she suddenly stands up and asks Suiseiseki and Canaria to follow her. Meanwhile, HinaIchigo is having her hair combed by Tomoe. Hina seems to enjoy it but it is obvious that she has difficulty maintaining her ability to move and speak. Eventually Hina thanks Tomoe and tells her that she knows that soon she won't be able to move any longer. Hina then tells Tomoe that she's not afraid and that she had fun with everyone back then. Tomoe eventually starts crying so Hina asks her if it's her mistake. Tomoe tells her that it's nothing like that and tells her that she always enjoy talking to Hina and even when Hina was staying with Jun, she always think of Hina everyday. She also feels guilty for not being able to do anything for Hina. Hina, however, tells her it's okay and that she'll always be by Tomoe's and everyone's side. As she says this, Hina loses her power and stops moving.

Meanwhile, inside HinaIchigo's N-Field, Hina's Rosa Mystica materialises and approaches Shinku. Shinku accepts the Rosa Mystica and allows it to enter her body. She begins to glow red and tells the other that one day Hina will surely return. Hina's world then starts to dim down as Shinku asks herself if this really is Father's wish. All of a sudden, N-Fields appear underneath the 3 dolls and they are transported into....the inside of Enju's doll shop. Much to their surprise, they also find Jun over there. Jun wonders what they are doing here and in return Shinku asks where is 'here'? Before Jun can answer, however, Shirosaki appears and says the same thing he said in episode 1: the deep woods are illusion woods. Shinku immediately recognises the words as Laplace. True enough, Shirosaki slowly morphs into Laplace demon. Laplace then introduces the other player and from beyond the curtain appear Barasuishou who tells them that the birth of Alice is nigh. Barasuishou then addresses someone as 'Otou-sama' and reveals that person as none other than Enju.

Impression:

I think there are a lot of character development happening in this episode. The main receivers of this development seem to be Suiseiseki, Suigintou, and HinaIchigo. Suiseiseki's development is actually more of a confirmation that deep down she's a caring individual. Instead of grabbing her sister's Rosa Mystica first, she chose to secure the body of Souseiseki first. This, however, became hers and Souseiseki's undoing because it allows Suigintou to grab the Rosa Mystica. Speaking of Suigintou, I find it hard to actually talk about her character. On the one hand, she's rather despicable when she made a grab for Souseiseki's Rosa Mystica. At the same time, she actually has a sweet and kind personality as shown whenever she's together with Megu. Interestingly enough, so far the doll's affection for their master has brought on positive change for the dolls. For example, Suigintou becomes a lot kinder and HinaIchigo becomes more mature as seen in this episode.

Moving on to Hina, I didn't know that writing a review is rather hard when you're almost close to tears. This episode turned out to be a tear-jerker even more so than the one before it. I am quite surprised here because I normally don't like HinaIchigo but she seems so grown up here, telling Tomoe not to worry about her. This is a nice and radical change from her personality back in Rozen Maiden. It's interesting to know that 2 dolls, Suigintou and Shinku, have now become the receiver of another doll's Rosa Mystica. I wonder if in the end if it'll be Shinku vs. Suigintou again or if they'll end up fighting against Barasuishou. And the preview drives me nuts. It's obvious that Barasuishou is fighting against Shinku but I noticed that it seems Suiseiseki is fighting someone with scissors. See the second to last screencap. Does this mean that Souseiseki is resurrected again? And how about Suigintou? Will she be the one who face against Canaria?

Either way, it's interesting to note that Shinku and Suiseiseki seem to work together in this particular battle. Actually, I don't expect it any other way especially since the two share Jun's power. I sure hope that Jun has had his breakfast prior going to the shop. :D I'm also still trying to wrap my brain around the concept of Alice Game and why it was initiated to begin with. It was weird to hear Enju telling Jun that even if he repaired the doll, he can't return the soul. I also wonder what Laplace and Barasuishou want to achieve through Alice Game? There's always the possibility that Rozen orders them to obey him but I still think they have ulterior motive. Is 'Father' really as cruel and sadistic as he appears in this episode or is he actually being controlled by Shirosaki? Either way, it seems I'll be making an appearance next week. Just kidding. :P I know that my screen name actually means 'Garden' in German language. I just thought that it's rather amusing.

Suigintou...despicable?I don't really think so..she really won that, didn't her?
She has the right to do so and this is already much better than her action in manga just stealing it to everyone's surprise.
Well, Suigintou and Megu's relationship is warm enough..
I thiught Barasuishou was coming to take revenge as Suigintou had attacked her before she could get Shinku. Actually I think Suigintou was throwing feather towards her to prevent her from getting Shinku* a bit like vowing that Shinku must be defeated by her XD*
And thanks for her action, we saw the surprised Barasuishou in this episode.
For Hinaichigo, I personally don't really like her very much too. Although the part is short, the writer had done a nice job here, we can see some ncie memory that we have never seen before, and these reveals more about Tomoe and Hina. I think Hina really changed a lot...
It's sad to see her field fading away...
Next--Shirosaki...
How come...he is that rabbit!?I did not expect such things...
Barasuishou coming out from the curtain is not surprising...but I prefer her to come out from a piece of glass XD
And for that they introduced "FATHER", I think that's strange...
I remember that in the first season, they said that only ALICE can meet FATHER...But now it seems Enju knows that Barasuishou is in his shop with him...
Considering a father lives with his daughter and her daughter's pet rabbit...

Lastly, I think the writer didn't really have good time management...So far,it seems that the series is going to end in a rush...
For the next episode...Maybe Suigintou will use Souseiseki's scissors? This time, Lampicka is being forgotten...while Rosa Mystica has been forgotten in the last series...

Laplace and Shirosaki are voiced by two diferent people.

Suigintou showed a bit of her old self in this episode, except in this season her devotion isn't only towards "Father". Poor Suiseiseki....
I wish she had gotten Souseiseki's Rosa Mystica. Don't' get me wrong, I have nothing against Suigintou. It's Megu I don't like.

Omigod! Hina was so grown up in this episode! I was in tears the entire time. ToT I didn't expect to cry so much for Hina. But then, it was Suiseiseki who started it.... I love the twins.

I always knew Shirosaki was Laplace, but actually seeing him transform like that was kind of disturbing.... And I wonder if Enju is the real "Father" or if he's like just "Father" reborn.

Hey, has anyone else noticed that the only N-fields we've seen are Suigintou's and Hina's? I wonder what Shinku, the twins, Kanaria, and Barasuishou's look like.

We have already seen Shinku's field...It's a huge mansion with rose petals flying in through the windows. The twins' field is a heavily forested place that looks like an enormous garden. Quite fitting.

One thought that occured after seeing Hinaichigo's field dissapear, and thinking about the other's fields, and some flashbacks, does it seem to anyone else that the n-fields are based on the same house? As in Rozen's house, where he made the dolls. In the first episode of Rozen maiden, the scene we see reminds me of part of the twin's garden. It makes sense that the n-fields would be much bigger in size, since the dolls are so small and things never seem to be in perspective when you are child sized. Hina's field being a toy/play room makes sense, as well as the twins garden, ans Shinku's tea room. I wonder if the comiplations of these memories create the entierty of Rozen's house?

Wow, I'm more shocked that no one knew that he was the rabbit. I was able to tell as soon as he appeared. His frame, clothing, relations to the father and Barasuishou, and relevance screamed that he was the rabbit.

And it seems that the girl that claimed to be Hina's previous owner (well, her grandmother, I think it was) will not even make a cameo.

I always suspected that Shirosaki was the rabbit man so that didn't really surprise me. For Hina's part, if they had introduced Odille then the series couldn't possibly be finished within two episodes, there will simply be too much to explain! Still, it's sad to see another doll go!

I think the doll with the scissors in the next episode preview will be Suigintou. I just don't know if the Rosa Mystica and the artifical spirit are one and the same. If not then it's quite possible that Megu got the Rosa Mystica and Suigintou can still use the giant scissors transformed from Sousei Seki's Renpika (I think that's the name of her spirit) to fight Suisei Seki.

@ Rai_Kamishiro

I can see what you mean by each doll's N-field representing a part of Father's house but Suigintou's doesn't really match that description unless her N-field is a very depressing version of the town Father lived in.

January 14, 2006 | Flareon wrote:

Well, I supposed that the n-field is a kind of reflection of the dolls' minds because in the first series when Shinku entered Suigintou's field, she said that the place suited Suigintou's bad taste.
The artificial spirits are just confusing...just like in Ep1 of traumend, MeiMei was forgotten and did not appear anymore after that...
Mayve when a doll ger the others' Rosa Mystica, one will also het the artificial spirit. Because in manga Phase29, it was MeiMei who found Megu to help Suigintou and Lempicka staying with Suigintou...

Doubtful. I remembering speculating that if a doll absorbs another doll's Rosa Mystica, she would gain the other doll's ability. The next episode preview seems to confirm this; I'm guessing that it's Suigintou using Souseiseki's shears to deliver a (hopefully killing) blow.

If Suigintou devours Suiseiseki's Rosa Mystica as well, then does that mean she gets to dual wield gardening tools? LOL

Very interesting thought...and those are NOT scissors that Suiseiseki is fighting with, she's using her water can as usual. "Father" himself told Jun that the doll (Souseiseki) could be revived, but it would not be the same. "Once the soul leaves the body, it does not return" But since Shinku keeps mentioning that they'll all be together again, it probably won't be until episode 12 (I think the closing theme & animation give away clues). Maybe they'll all merge to form Alice??

Just a thought

Why can't they just hand their powers over to someone, let that person become Alice and be normal girls without powers?

Without their spirit, the dolls still functioned.

In season one of rozen maiden Suigintou ONLY got Sousei seki's and Suisei seki's ARTIFICIAL SPIRITS jade dream and Lempicka which are there powers e.g the scissor and water can and the power to enter dreams. They can live on without them but they cant live on without their rosa mystica because that is there soul or spirit or life source what ever you wanna call it. So yeah thats my thought but im not sure if still Sousei seki and Suisei seki can still use there weopons even without there artificial spirits.

And also in the last ep i think that shinku gets all the roza mystica but instead of becoming remaining as alice gives the roza mystica back to the dolls bodiesor whatever and jun repairs them or something like that 0_o....

The doll's Rosa Mystica and their Artificial Spirits are two different things. In the first season both Souseiseki and Suiseiseki lose their Artificial Spirits to Suigintou, not their Rosa Mystica. While the Artificial Spirits boost their power, their Rosa Mystica is their life source.

@7Advent_sins

I think the dolls can use their power without their Artificial Spirit, but I think the power level drops when the Artificial Spirit isn't there. In the 11th episode in the first season, I think, Suiseiseki calls out her watering can to tend to Jun's tree, but she filled it with water from the pool nearby. I think if she had Sui Dream with her at the time the watering can would have filled up by itself.

It's a pity that Garten cannot write the review fore Ep11...
I think Ep11 is awesome!*despite Suigintou is not drawn very good*
I think the father like Shinku most, he only comment on Shnku's battle, but not the others...or Maybe he thinks that Shoujo battling is very artistic and nice to watch!!?
I wonder what did the rabbit plan in Ep...5 or 4?I forgot..but it seemed that there were a plan by Shirosaki and Barasuishou///
but after watching the episode..it only shows that Barasuishou is loving her FATHER in extreme and the rabbit is just a guard of Father///
One more point to note is that in season 1 Ep3, when Suigontou appeared for the first time, she also said that FATHER is angry*because Hinaichigo violated the Games' rule*. So was she just making up everything by herself or did she see sth special? This time Barasuishou also mentioned FATHER is angry and with a backup from FATHER :P Just TRICKY~

I don't think there will be a third season for Rozen Maiden...the last episode is already titled"ALICE"...Obviously Shinku will win instead of Barasuishou...the matter is that would Shinku really become Alice or she may make use of the power to save her sisters, as Barasuishou said Rosa Mystica has great powerXD
I will be very glad to see 7 dolls gathered with all masters playing~and a very small hope is that...please pull down the eye cover of Barasuishou!!!!*crashed to the wall*

I think I've figured it out!

In Season 1, Jun returned the soul of a doll to it's body. He repaired the clown doll.

At the end of the season 1, he repairs Shinku's broken arm. Suigintou also says something about only "A Maestro" can do this and how could this boy be a "Maestro"?

Now we all know Father is the only one that can remotely repair a Rozen maiden, or even fix one.

Yet Jun repaired Shinku..

Jun will become father I believe. Alice has never been realized, because each time the winner of the game couldn't live with her sisters being dead. She gave up Alice to return them to life. But to be repaired, Father must be needed or make new dolls.

I think Jun will see Shinku become Alice, but because Shinku can't live with what she did, she'll give it up and the Roza Mysticas will go to Jun. Jun will then become the next father and make new Rozen Maidens to see Alice.

Barasuishou can never win, she lost her arm and a incomplete/imperfect doll can never be Alice. Shinku says this in season 1. Bara has no medium, nor does she have a medium that can be a Maestro.

Father also had a daughter in season 1, shown in the flashbacks. Could her name have been Alice?

It'll end with Jun becoming father, and the cycle to repeat once again. Alice can not be born from the deaths of innocents.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I felt that episode 11 kinda fell short of my expectations. Maybe I need to watch it again. Suiseiseki's 'death' didn't make the impact it should have because Kanaria was taken down as well in the very same episode. In fact, Souseiseki's demise was a lot more affecting than hers. Which is odd, because I think Suiseiseki is rather more likeable than her twin sister. :/ And Kanaria...Didn't move me one bit. The most depressing loss was Hinaichigo, probably because they actually spent some time fleshing out the relationship between her and Tomoe.

Wasn't Bara imperfect to began with, since she has an eyepatch? Maybe she just has one eye, and that would make her imperfect, wouldn't it?

No, A eye can be replaced. Jun was a "Maestro" in season 1, one of the only ones that can replace a damaged Rozen Maiden's parts and restore a soul to the body.

He fixed Shinku, and Shinku thought she was junk now.

Remember, in season 1, Suigintou had no middle section... So why did she fight?

I think Shinku will become Alice, and then won't keep it to have her sisters back and Father will die, being sad leaving Jun to repair the maidens and become the new father.

A endless cycle...

Ok, I've seen the last episode. It was bittersweet. And I really, really hope they make a third season. It didn't really end....well it ended but it feels like they have still got enough stuff to make another season.

@Lord Khyron

*SPOILER*

In the last episode Suigintou tells Shinku that "Father" told her that even she could become Alice. I think that made her think that she could impress "Father" more when she did become Alice.

in episode 11 canaria could will the battle, since she had Suiseiseki's powers at that time, so again anime designers decided to eliminate another person in not the best way.

as allways everyone have unpredictable power, I supposed Bara to be much stronger, but now she was few times weaker as usual. Suiseiseki was completely stunned by her wind at first time, but now her attacks have almost no effect, maibe area was to big
and i suppose Shinku will be infinitely owerpowered in next episode.

at least they could show Rozen's face

usual stupid ending, I expected some better explanations about everything.

well the last episode was definatly a shocker, it was a crappy ending missing conclusions, however if there's a season 3 it definatly gives it somewhere to start, too bad those two dolls aren't coming back, and judging by the similarties, i guess enju is the son of rozen. too bad there's still alot of inconclusive info that could go anywhere but if the series doesn't end then i think its good enough for now

January 29, 2006 | rainey wrote:

I just watched the last episode...The ending was a crap-out. They have a lot of explaining left undone. They didn't even touch on what exactly a 'Maestro' was, why Barasuishou broke so easily, why she and Laplace were playing basketball with Souseiseki's and Hinaichigo's Roza Mysticas in an alternate dimension, why Rozen's psycho apprentice looks EXACTLY like him, what other ways there are to become Alice, and what Rozen wants Alice for. blah blah blah. At least this makes for good fodder for a third season, though it wouldn't be the same with Hina not around. D:

Digix: We already know the importance of Alice. She's a doll of perfection without even a single scar or taint. Dolls are able to achieve perfection like what Shinku said in the last episode of the first series, when Jun was trying to calm her down, when she lost her arm.

And I'm still wondering why Rozen said there are other ways of becoming Alice .. Maybe a safer way to become Alice without taking the other's Roza Mystica.

And also they didn't show Rozen's face because the Rozen Maiden who becomes Alice gets to meet Father, so wouldn't it be a drag if they showed his face to the audience before showing it to the dolls -_-

Rainey: I'm guessing Bara broke was because techinically she's not a Rozen Maiden (She was created by Enju), so she's unable to participate in the Alice Game (That's why Rozen returned the Roza Mystica to those who were defeated by Bara) Since, she won, I'm guessing that the Roza Mystica were too much for her to handle, that's why Enju told Bara to "eject" the Roza Mystica.

And also that's not Barasuishio (Sp?) with Lapalace. That's "Baraotome" the REAL 7th Rozen Maiden (Barasuishio isn't a Rozen Maiden) Besides Baraotome is much differnent then Barasuishio. Baraotome's eyepatch is in a different eye, and also their outfit and haircolor is different (Baraotome's hair is more white, and Barasuishio's is lavender (I think))

And if you're thinking I made that up, it was already revealed in the Manga (Baraotome takes Hana Ichigo's Roza Mystica in the manga)

Moonlight: Why would Enju be Rozen's son? There are many anime characters that have same appearnaces but aren't realted/past lives/etc. Like Kisara and Shizuka from Yugiou they look similar, but they have nothing that makes them related.

I'm guessing that the creators wanted Enju to look like Rozen becuase they want the dolls and people watching to be tricked into thinking that Enju is Rozen due to their appearnaces (But Rozen's full face hasn't been shown maybe not even to the Rozen Maiden's because the others were so easily tricked into thiking that.)

Anyways, I'm disappointed that Hana and Sou didn't get their Roza Mystica back, but then their sacrifice would be in vain if they got it back. I'm hoping for a third season. But ti's likely since there are still some unanswered questions, but it could be like "Use your imagination to figure it out yourself" endings.

I translated the thing wrong. It could be Baraotome (but it's a way of saying Rozen Maiden, since whatserface introduces herself as the seventh "Baraotome" so it could be she is saying that she's the seventh Rozen Maiden but her name is Kirakishou -_- I should read it again before jumping into conclusions

February 1, 2006 | rainey wrote:

Whoa, this is really confusing...There just HAS to be a 3rd season because there are too many loose ends that need tying up. Especially all that Bara Otome stuff. I still don't get why she and Laplace were having fun running around with the stolen Roza Mysticas. And the anime still hasn't explained how exactly Rozen put Roza Mysticas into the dolls to make them animated. I mean, you don't see any doll just getting up and walking around...x_x And did Rozen's apprentice model Barasuishou after Bara Otome or what?

...I need to read the manga.

Anyway, Bara Otome has a prettier outfit. :3
