Rozen Maiden Ouvertüre OP - Baragoku Otome (11.5MB, for PSP/Quicktime)

Baragoku Otome is the opening theme for the upcoming 2 days TV special Rozen Maiden Ouvertüre. This is basically a creditless OP theme video which you can get if you buy the limited edition Baragoku Otome CD. The song, in tradition of other Rozen Maiden series, is performed by ALI PROJECT. Despite this, the song feels a bit different from other Rozen Maiden opening. It seems a lot more subdue and melancholic in delivery and tone. The animation itself is fantastic and features all Rozen Maiden dolls except Barasuishou and Kirakishou. The TV specials themselves will be aired on the 22nd and 23rd December this year and I'm looking forward to see what kind of story the writers will produce for Suigintou.

Kanji/Kana version

Shawny, it's on the link above the first set of paragraph. Unless you meant the actual mp3, in that case I can't help you at the moment since it's in some annoying FLAC format which I can't convert to anything else until I get to my macintosh at work.

December 5, 2006 | Chris wrote:

What's annoying about FLAC? If you want an audio codec with lossless compression, FLAC is definitely the best choice. The codec is open-source unlike others. So it should be usable everywhere and not discriminate against operating systems or hardware unlike others. Also FLAC doesn't have integrated DRM. So FLAC is clearly to lossless audio compression what MP3 and Ogg/Vorbis are to lossy audio compression. I know that MPlayer and VLC play FLAC.

omg...those screenshots look fantastic. I must say though, I wasn't too pleased with how the second season went. I hope the TV special makes up for it.

That seriously just brought me to tears. I loved it. Carried the emotion of the series beautifully. The 22nd can't get here any faster.

Wait, I thought that this was going to be 6 episodes or something.

Now the website says that there are only 2 eps. Does anyone know whether they'll be regular-length episodes?

As for the story, it is apparently a prequel about Suigintou's past, and how she and Shinku became rivals.

December 5, 2006 | Kouan wrote:

Yeah, I think it's very normal for the animators to take a melancholic theme for Suigintou's background, since the motivations we saw on the last seasons are in fact very undestandable, and makes of her a very supported anti-hero, -not like the current Light we see on DN- .
But about the music it couldn't help avoiding bringing back to my mind the music Ali Project did for "Maria Sama", so it's not big deal for me, but enough and perfectly fitting for the Rozen Maiden Series...
This autumn season concert will paradoxically be closed by a dark, golden and excellent Ouvertüre.

Bakanekokun, you need Quicktime 7 or the latest version to view the file.

BTW, when I saw this I was like "the OVA's released already?

Well, it was originally intended as OVA so you're not that far off there. I'm glad they decided to release it as TV specials though. I hope that means they have more confidence in the project and think many people would enjoy it more if they screen it on TV.

Wow, that's really beautiful! Is there someone out there who can translate the text to English please? I really would love to know what's being said in the song...

Another long time lurker decides to finally post ^___^

A beautiful preview to what's probably going to be a spledid overture. Can't wait to see it.

I found it very interesting how Suigintou furiously swung at those roses--the very thing that represents Shinku. It looked like she was throwing some sort of temper tantrum, to crudely put it. She looked so intent on cleaving those roses to death, yet she couldn't kill them all becuase she was surrounded by a whole field of them. Perhaps Suigintou was overshadowed as soon as Shinku was created --after the second season, we kinda get the feeling that Father favors Shinku a lot and that Enju wanted Bara to kill her most of all made her feel a little bit more special than the other dolls-- and that's why the rivalry started.

I dunno >.<

Excited, but then it seems to focus more on Suigintou, and I am not her biggest fan. I keep wondering if turning into Alice means turning from a doll to a human. XD

December 8, 2006 | Sakura wrote:

Here's my makeshift translation of Baragoku otome. Please enjoy it. There may be errors, but I tried as to the best of my abilities.

Baragoku otome (Rose-Jail Maiden)
ALI PROJECT

I, as beautiful as a leopard,
Am dressed in a coat of darkness
And trample on the lilies of hell
In order to approach where you are

The sweetness of the fleshy fruit in my fangs
Is a falsified dream of untied sprouts
Let’s tangle them

Are you escaping or chasing after something?
You no longer know
Look at me and go deeper,
Drowning in the hellish nectar of unrest

Devilish talons and corroded bones
Make grating and reeling sounds
Is this love or is it more like hatred?
Is an answer necessary?

Aa, my tired soul is
Just as icy as you
I’m returning to life in your fingers

Even if I can be tamed only by loneliness
I want the tail of a butterfly
For my alluring, beautiful ankle-chain
That connects me to door to Hades

Tracing the tip of the keyhole with my tongue
Following the path that tastes like luxurious blood
Am I hastening?

Is this an embrace or is it grudging?
I just don’t know
I look at your turning arms that are
Purposely scattering roses of hell

A dirty moon on a decayed night
The waning moon is again waxing
Be it love or be it betrayal
It’s the same corpse

Aa, the thing in this hand that has done it all,
If fading from those eyes,
Can be reborn any number of times

Are you escaping or chasing after something?
You no longer know
Look at me and be further captured
In burning crimson roses of hell

Are you wanting to live or wanting to fall?
Because you do not know yet,
From this love may come the sadness
I wish for the demise; don’t you?

Aa, that heart is plundering,
Being imprisoned inside the depths of my body
As I become penetrated with light

There are a few errors in the above english translation, as there is no word in the japanese language for "I", among other things. Here is the copied english lyrics right off the english sub.

"As beautifully as a panther,
I dress up in furs of Darkness,
I'd even trample the Lilies of the Valley,
To come to the place where you are."

"The Sweetness of the Fruit into Which I sink my Fangs,
And the faithless dream of the fruit that was barren,
Let them Entwine."

"Are you running away? Are you chasing after me?
To the point that you no longer know,
Look at me more even deeply,
Drowning, lose yourself to this honeyed hell."

"Demonic Claws, Decayed Bone,
I hear their creaking,
Is it love? Or is it hatred?
Is an answer even necessary?"

"Ah my captive heart,
Will be brought to life,
Held within your hands, as cold as ice."

Unfortunately on the DVD, it stops after Yubi no naka de yuki kaeruwa, so I can't finish the rest of it.
