I think that theory about this series being at its best when it focuses the story amongst its member is true. This episode is a lot better than last week's episode mostly because the writers know how to exploit every single characteristics of each host. The addition of Renge and a bunch of fangirls into the story also adds to the hilarity of the story. I am mostly interested to know what people think about the slightly altered storyline towards the end. I think it's necessary since the episode is no longer about Valentine's day and moreoever, it's actually rather hilarious. It's a proof that Renge is a very dangerous fangirl who can infect her enthusiasm to other girls in Ouran High.

The episode begins with Tamaki freaking out because the twins have accidentally spilt a tea on top of Hunny's Usa-chan, the pink stuffed bunny. The twins' excuse is that Haruhi was trying to run away while they're trying to outfit her with a Bunny costume. They then point out that surely Tamaki wants to see it as well, prompting the other guy to imagine Haruhi in a sexy Bunny outfit similar to the one that the other Haruhi usually wears. Tamaki, however, quickly snaps out of his imagination and orders the twins to get their hands off Haruhi. The twins, however, refuse to do this so they and Tamaki start making noises. Kyouya, who's fed up with the noise, warns the three that they better tone it down otherwise Hunny sempai will wake up. These words promptly put the fear in Tamaki and the twins. Much to their relief, however, Hunny is still sleeping in his bed. Haruhi thinks that they better apologise to Hunny since they've made Bunny doll dirty.
However, before she can wake the guy up, Tamaki and the twins ask her to step back. They then explain that waking up Hunny is a bad idea and tell her a story that at one point Hunny caused destruction because a soldier woke him up. In addition to this, Usa-chan is Hunny's favourite stuffed Bunny. If he were to find out what happened to it, he'll surely destroy all of them. They then point out that Hunny sempai has AB blood type so that makes him similar to Kyouya. Haruhi is finally afraid after hearing this. Because of this, Tamaki orders the twin to go to Hunny's grandma and ask her to make a new Usa-chan. The twins, however, think it's impossible so Tamaki comes up with another plan and that is cleaning up Usa-chan while Haruhi wears a bunny costume to fool Hunny. Haruhi refuses flat out and tells the two that it'll be unconvincing. Tamaki, however, tells her that it'll be okay since Hunny won't notice right away but Haruhi is not convinced.
Due to the noise that the two make while struggling against each other, Hunny wakes up from his sleep. Since they no longer have the time, Tamaki comes up with another plan and that is to substitute Usa-chan with his own Kuma-chan. Hunny, however, can tell the difference right away and violently throw the teddy bear into the floor. This freaks Tamaki and the twins out and they think they'll be next when Hunny sees Usa-chan's condition. True enough, Hunny looks scary when he finds out what happens to Usa-chan and asks the trio who made the stuffed animal dirty. Because of this the three asks Mori to help them out of the sticky situation and Mori responds by telling Hunny that Usa-chan wanted to drink tea. Much to the guys' relief, Hunny believes what Mori said and understands why the doll looks dirty now. He even thinks that the doll probably wants to eat cake as well. Tamaki and the twins are relieved to see this and assume "orz" position.
In the second half of the episode, Hunny's fangirls asks the guy what kind of chocolate he likes. Hunny, however, tells them any chocolate will do since he likes any chocolate, Usa-chan, and everyone. This answer promptly puts the fangirls into overdrive. Haruhi, however, warns Hunny that he'll get cavities if he keeps eating cakes. Hunny is not concerned about this until all of a sudden he gets a sudden pain on his tooth. Everyone becomes concerned about this and tries to see his mouth but no one is successful until Mori restrains Hunny's hands with his own. Upon seeing this, the fangirls scream in excitement and start imagining a shounen-ai scene. Renge, who originally bored with the entire scene suddenly also becomes excited and screams "MOEEE" upon seeing the two. Meanwhile, Mori manages to open Hunny's mouth and finds two little cavities stabbing Hunny's tooth. Because of this Tamaki prohibit Hunny from eating sweets until he gets better.
Hunny tries to pretend that he’s okay and ask Mori not to take his cake away from him. Mori, however, turns back and tells Hunny that he's prohibited from eating cake, sending Hunny spiralling into despair. Renge then appears to announce that Hunny's hellish day has began. The next day, Mori asks Hunny to see his bag and upon checking said bag, he finds out a lot of candies inside it. Hunny tells Mori that he simply wants to take a look at them but Mori doesn't buy the excuse. He tells the other guy that if he wants to take a look, he should just look at pictures of cakes. Upon seeing the scenes, the twins tell Haruhi that they can't believe how strict Mori could be. They also think that Tamaki must be upset because he can't get any sweets from his customers. Much to their surprise, Tamaki seems to be dealing rather well. When a customer tells him that she wants to give him chocolate, he simply tells the girl that for Hunny's sake, they must co-operate.
Besides, Tamaki thinks any chocolate will simply melt from their hot sizzling love. Tamaki then tells the twin that no matter what happens, the happiness of their customer is their first priority. Kyouya is also happy with the situation because it means he's saving a lot of money. He tells the other boys to be strong and not to give Hunny any sweets. Meanwhile, while on her way to the Host Club, Haruhi sees Mori talking to a girl. She can't resist from listening to their conversation and hears the girl telling Mori if he would accept her profession of love. When Mori doesn't answer, however, she wonders if he already has an important person in his life. Haruhi looks surprised upon hearing this. Mori, however, doesn't answer the girl so she ends up crying and running away from Mori. At the same time, Hunny is trying to get sweets through different ways. First he pretends that he's okay but when Mori sticks an ice cream into his mouth, Hunny screams in pain.
Since the first plan failed, Hunny decides to approach two of his customers and asks them what they are having. Upon finding out that the girls are having Darjeeling tea and Sandwich, Hunny makes a comment that he thinks tea would taste better with sweet things like cakes. The girls become depressed upon hearing this but decide to run away from Hunny for his sake. Hunny then executes his 3rd plan and that is to look sad in front of Haruhi hoping that she'll take a pity on him. Haruhi does take a pity on him but instead of giving him chocolate, she instead gives something that looks like one. After 3 days with no chocolate, Hunny's dark side starts to appear, inciting fear in everyone. Hunny then walks towards the candy cabinet but Kyouya assures everyone that he's emptied the cabinet. True enough, the only thing that Hunny finds inside the cabinet is Tamaki's Kuma-chan. Hunny becomes angry to see this and violently throws the teddy bear away.
Hunny then loses his consciousness and falls into the floor. However, when Tamaki tries to check on him, Hunny wakes up and bites Tamaki's hand. Mori who sees this comes over and tells Hunny not to attack other people. Hunny becomes angry and ends up throwing Mori into the floor and tells the guy that he hates him. After Hunny left the room, Mori becomes depressed when he remembers what Hunny told him. The twins think that if it's going to hurt Mori that much, then he shouldn't have started it. Haruhi, however, thinks that Mori purposely made Hunny hate him. The twins disagree because being hated by Hunny means the end of the world for Mori so they wonder why Mori would intentionally do it. Haruhi thinks that Mori wants to hurt himself and asks Mori if she's wrong. Mori tells Haruhi that it was his fault that Hunny got cavities because he forgot to tell Hunny to brush his teeth. He thinks he can't forgive himself until Hunny threw him to the ground.
Tamaki, however, manages to bring Hunny back into the room to show him that Mori is sad about the whole thing. Upon seeing this, Hunny runs back to Mori and apologises to the other guy. He also promises Mori that he won't forget brushing his teeth next time. A few days later, Hunny recovers from his toothache so he begins to consume cakes again much to Kyouya's disappointment because it causes a big dent in his budget. The girl who confessed to Mori then arrives at the Host Club and tells Mori that she finally knows who is Mori's important person. She believes that the person is none other than Hunny and thinks that is...awesome. It appears that the girl has been infected by Renge's shounen-ai enthusiasm so she, Renge and the other girls go "MOE, MOE" upon seeing Mori wiping a leftover cake from Hunny's mouth. Haruhi is not impressed to see this and wonders if it's okay to end on a useless happy ending like this one. Unfortunately for Haruhi, her objection is drowned out by the sound of Renge and the fangirls screaming "MOEEEE".
Impression:
This is definitely one of the best episodes in recent weeks. The episode actually managed to squeeze in the omake chapters about sleeping Hunny as well as the story about Hunny getting a toothache. I really like the addition scene with Hunny's father waking up his son only to get destroyed on the spot. The continual joke involving Tamaki's Kuma-chan was also amusing to see since Tamaki seems highly attached to the stuffed animal. The best thing about episode, however, has to be Renge and the fangirls. Renge screaming "MOE" upon seeing two guys together will probably send some MOE fanboys fleeing in terror. But this episode shows that depending on the viewers, the word is applicable not only to female characters but also the male ones. At the moment, I'm still undecided about the slight alteration to the storyline towards the end of the story. While I enjoy the comedy that goes with it, it eliminates the minor character development for Mori.
In the original, the story involves Mori refusing to take Valentine chocolate from the girl because hurting the girl hurts him even more. Towards the end, however, Mori apologises by giving her a flower. In this version, the scene was played as a comedy with the girl thinking that Mori and Hunny are a couple before she joins Renge and the other fangirls to scream "MOE MOE". Not surprisingly, Haruhi is not impressed by this. Having said that, it's worth noting that she actually had this surprise look on her face when the girl asked Mori if he already has an important person. Prior to this episode, I also didn't see Haruhi as the type who likes to eavesdrop on other people's conversation but obviously I was wrong. I now get the impression that she has a vested interested in the matter. In addition to this, even though she has only joined the Host Club not too long ago, she seems to be able to understand Mori's way of thinking better than the other members.

Next week's episode is Haruhi in Wonderland. I've been looking forward to this one.
my fav ep so far. I really liked this episode from the manga and Bones really pulled it off. ^__^ good for them!
Thanks for the images! LOL! It seems like a really funny alteration of this chapter of the manga! I can't wait to see it!! Renge is funny, I like the face she's making with the microphone! :)
yikes, a rabid rabbit!
hahaha i was laughing out so loud reading it!!!
Haruhi does take a pity on him but instead of giving him chocolate, she instead gives something that looks like one <- AHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA i cant' stop laughing!
that is SO Haruhi to pull off an action like that. hehehe
also Tamaki's Kumachan. kekekekkek what on earth!
i can't wait for this episode!!
oh btw, from your review, Haruhi seems to be tad interested in Mori...? is that true? I didn't read the manga so I don't the whole series. Btw....who is she with in manga now? Still not with anyone or there is someone?
kekeke
Have been waiting for this episode to see Hunny's grumpy side :-).. I prefer the manga version tho. Like Garten said, the character devt of Mori is not seen as clearly without the valentine's day portion. Still, it looks like a pretty fun episode. Looking forward to it subbed.
A grumpy Honey - cute! And more Mori, too!
aw, no rose at the end. :( But still a funny episode! Can't wait for the Alice in Wonderland ep!! One of my favorite chapters.
oh btw, from your review, Haruhi seems to be tad interested in Mori...? is that true?
That depends on individual's interpretation. I think she looks surprised when the other girl said that she thinks Mori already has an important person. But the reason as to why she is surprised is up for grabs.
As for the altered storyline, I've already came to the conclusion (after seeing episode 9) that I like the anime more than the manga - it's simply more clever. Here, too, even if there was less focus on Mori's personality, the girl's transition into a screaming fangirl in last scene was not only comedy gold but also perfectly true. As a fujoshi myself, I can totally identify with the situation (not IRL, naturally, but as far as anime/manga goes - that's how it happens, people!). xD
Hi, I am kind of new to this stuff.
I was wondering how you find out which new anime becomes available and when it's out on sites such as youtube, etc... Thank you. :)
I think that any girl who wants to have a relationship with Mori will have a major difficulty due to his tendency to prioritise Hunny. It's the same thing with the twins. You can't have one without having the other. That's why I think Tamaki is probably the one who'll end up with Haruhi
Ewwwww...Honey doesn't brush his teeth. ummm...That's kind of gross. *_*
So Honey got better after not eating candy for awhile instead of going to the dentist. That's not possible, but then this is Ouran high school.
Although i was a bit disturbed when those girls were imagining the shounen-ai scene, Honey looked so much better as a grown-up. He looked like Tamaki a lot.
Loved this episode, definately one of my favs and although I did like how the anime changed it I do prefer the manga ending.
Hunny caused destruction because his father woke him up
I thought the guy was a servant or something. What kinda father would call their son "master"? >>

Sorry I was talking to someone on the phone when I typed that. My brain must have crosswired things. >_< I've fixed it now.

yes inded Ouran High School where pencils can be selled at 300 bucks, physics laws don't have any effect at all and humans can throw beings three times their weight, and where illneas can be cured with an apology ^^'
Were are u getting the ep. because thats how far I am in the manga so please give tell me where I can buy or downaload the ep please
google is your friend, just type Lunar Anime on it and that's all ^^
I didn't know about the manga version and it seems more interesting in my opinion.
I think Mori not speaking and responding to the girl is absolutely rude and very boring to us viewers.
If I were Haruhi, I wouldn't be pleased by that.
hunnny and renge looks cute in that preview pic ;D
ok i love this anime where can i watch it ive olnly been able to c it on youtube but i wanna see ep 12 ive been only able 2 c up 2 11 !!!!!! plz some1 e-mail me

Mori seems like a sweet guy and he's tall, dark and handsome and all that, but he doesn't DO anything. He and Haruhi would make a pretty dull couple, I think. And frankly, his extreme attachment to Honey borders on creepy.
May, he doesn't have really an obsession with Hani. If you note in earlier episodes it explains that Mori's bloodline was originally a servant to Hani's, so it's loyalty. But I do agree that Mori and Haruhi would be a bit dull. Personally I think Tamaki and Haruhi would be the couple at the end.
Maybe it's Miko-chan's imagination, but Miko-chan seemed to like the manga a little bit better...
Maybe it's all in Miko-chan's head x_x
Miko-chan might be a little wierd =/
I find Mori x Haruhi to be an absolute ADORABLE couple and they're my personal favorite. That said, I don't mind Tamaki x Haruhi but I would like it better if Haruhi HAD to end up with someone, then I'd love it if it was Mori-sempai. Mori's really loyal and his love IS vast, like Hatori-sensei described. Besides, Haruhi seems to understand him a lot better than she understands the other Host Club members. They seem to have a mutual understanding of each other so that's probably why they don't interact much. Either that or it's because my poor sweet Mori is unfortunately the silent background-type character. xD; Still, I love him for it!!
And I am intrigued as to WHY Haruhi stopped to evesdrop on his conversation with that girl and why she looked suprised when the mention of a special someone in Mori's heart came up.
Can't wait for Haruhi in Wonderland; that's gonna be a good one!!
Wow... Haruhi in a bunnysuit... This is for all you Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi fans: Bunny Haruhis
I'm. Still. SLEEPY. *boom*
xD Gotta be my favourite in Ouran. (That & the Ouran boys singing "Ouran~")
Honey-senpai may look like Momiji, sound like Momiji, and act like Momiji, but in the end he is no Momiji. He seriously lacks the depth that makes Momiji's character so engaging and tragic.
Momiji's episode was devoted to his problematic family with his mother's memory being erased and his sister not being able to identify him as her brother. It was really moving stuff and transitioned Momiji from a one-note comical charicature to a three-dimensional and profound character.
Honey's episode though? Oh no, someone can't eat cake for three days. Get a grip you effing loser.
Momiji>>>>>Honey
wow!!!!!!its good that mori is talking...hehehe
@deadpill: Who ever said Honey was supposed to be Momiji? Just cause he has a bunny, is sweet lolicon jailbait, and is blonde? I don't think so. Sure, Honey's a stereotypical character, but it's the same with all the Hosts in Ouran. He does have one thing, though: Mori. And that makes all the difference...
OT: Mori-sempai FTW!! I'd also like to see more of Kyoya. The guy pulls everything from the shadows and gets the least love, ne? Renge has also been a delight to watch. She's probably the one thing that gets me to laugh harder when watching the anime than when I read the manga. (MOE!) If she forms a "Shounen-Ai Host Club Fanclub," I think I'll laugh saliva out my nose...
I love Renge too. She's quite possibly my favorite character, although I like Haruhi a lot too. Renge needs another episode completely devoted to her. And, where is the Renge/Haruhi love!?
Honey and Momiji share also the same eye color, voice actor, and astrological sign, as well as other things mentioned, so I think the creator of this series intentionally made the choice of basing Honey off of Momiji. Also, I have no doubts that Honey's character will grow as the series progresses, but I was not impressed with the first episode devoted to him. He came across as shrill.
Actually once the exposed nerve is dead a cavity will stop often stop hurting, unless it gets infected. I'm not a fan of the Mori pairing. Sure, he's the best man among them, but for that reason he's the one least in need of Haruhi's good sense and good heart. Also that would saddle Haruhi with Honey for life.
