Had to say I watched the video about an week ago and I was thinking the same thing. They may as well just used clips from Paradise Kiss and called it an anime music video. Even worse it looked like she didn't know what she was doing half the time in the pink room. Still an nice song but I'll try not to remember the video again. *shivers*

It doesn't seem a lot of people are too familiar with Tomoko Kawase's side-projects of Tommy Heavenly6 and Tommy February6, but the videos are intended to be cheesy, bad, and basically a parody of whatever music style she's doing (the 'pop rock' Heavenly6 side or the 'synth pop' of her February6 side). There's a lot of 'retro' influences because, apparently, her February6 side is inspired by 80's synth-pop music. Many of her other videos have her playing the sugary pop singer, and then she twists the image a little by taking a sip from the flash she has (she does this in a few live performances too).

But, yeah, I can see why people will think this is a bad video right off the bat. It definitely lacks mass appeal. But, if you want to see more . . . er, polished videos that she's been in, I do suggest you watch the PVs of the Brilliant Green.

I just realised that EricMontreal22 had said something similar about Tommy in the Paradise Kiss 5 comment area. The concept is quite interesting but bizzare. I mean I know there are singers who sometimes perform solo and sometimes within a group. But this is the first time I read about a singer who creates different persona for different groups/music projects. And what's a Blythe doll?

Blythe dolls - has a really REALLY huge cult following among asian girls. There's a whole range of branded merchandise and accessories for both humans and dolls.
These collectors items have disproportionately large heads and are 1/6 human size. Average price per doll is ~US$100+.

And I only know all this because my best friend is (no, was, her targets are US$5000+ super dolfie dolls now.) a rabid Blythe fan.

In my opinion, the "drunk" acting is obviously faked. She doesn't even seem drunk, rather acting like a 10 year old. The only thing I liked about the PV were the cheer leaders. The OP from Paradise Kiss would have been the better PV.

The PV is hilarious. Really great. Not a glossy fake thing like most PVs, but a funny let-it-rip thing. Definitely has an art-school feel about it. Makes me respect Kawase Tomoko. Many thanks for the transcription.

Yikes, I can't tell if this song is supposed to be romantic or needy and desperate. I guess I just have a problem with songs where the singer sings about his/her unrequited love. But thank you for the lyric anyway.

Freddie, I'm basically just transcribing the kanji/kana lyric printed in Animedia's Autumn Anime songbook, which I assume will eventually make it to the actual lyric on Tommy's single.

In that lyric, that particular line was written explicitly as:

After hearing it multiple times, I get the impression that this is true. Tommy simply prolonged her 'Ye-ah' so sometimes the word unintentionally sounds like 'tears'

It's the same with "SE-TSU-NAI!!". It was written in romaji in caps like that so that's why I written it like that as well.

I usually try to follow whichever way the official lyric (as official as they can get) writes it, then I'll compare it by listening to the song myself. So when the lyric and the song more or less match, I'll leave it as the way the official lyric printed it.

Blythe Dolls actually started in the US as a rival to Barbie (apparantly) and seem to have been made there at least until the 80s but I certainly never have heard any little kid ask for one...

I've actually started to really dig the video. I'm a huge fan of TommyFebruary6 (and to a lesser extent the other bands Tomoko's involved in) and love the post modern take on quality synth pop. The albums hold up both as fun "cheasy" music and I think quality pop--not a simple thing to do.

I know Tomoko is a big shoujo manga fan and a big fan of Ai Yawaza's manga (TommyHeavenly6 did a song for the Nana movie) and it seems she did focus a bit on the plot of the anime for this song lyrically, the CInderella illusion etc.

I think I was thrown initially because usually their videos are cheasy--but in a more blatant way (ie more focus on the dance routines with her always present chearleaders--who she wrote a flop single for last year--). A few weeks ago she did 4 songs for talk show host Fuuji Takashi and the video for the single, Oh My Juliet, was hilarious and more accessible I think.

I am a bit surprised that, in my experience, not many anime fans are too familiar with TommyFebruary6 since they've been around, and very big, for a while now.

Garten thanks for linking to my other comments. I think there have been past performers who create different personas for side projects etc but I guess I'm thinking more of people like David Bowie who change their image and "character" (ie recording several albums as Ziggy Stardust).

YAY for lyrics, I had no idea what the english was - her engrish is worse than mine, I think. I just dont hear party time in the first chorus... in the second one, yeah, its definitely that, but I dont hear it. Maybe in cd quality... only got the pv rip. >_<

Hello! Great video, I loved it! I know its silly and kinda out of place... but its so much fun. I really recommend everybody to watch more of tommy february6 videos, it kinda grows un you, cause to be honest, the first time I saw one of her videos I was like... what the heck, this s*cks, only in japan -.-U but then after a while I got hooked and now I listen to her music almost everyday XD Yay for 80's synth pop!

I actually don't see how anyone can find her "performance" as a drunk authentic -_-. It is obviously staged, and staged poorly on purpose. I believe it is primarily to poke fun (at what exactly is anyone's guess) and nothing more. Still, I was a bit disturbed with that portion of the video. Not only is it irrelevant, but it wasn't even entertaining. It was even uncomfortable to watch, probably because I knew she was faking it and badly. I was not amused. Despite that minor detail and lack of ingenuity (Beastie Boys rip-off) it was "okay". They really could have come up with something a lot better than that. I think only redeeming quality what saved the video from total disaster is the song itself. Oh yes and Tommy isn't too bad on the eyes either (and cheerleaders for the guys -_-;).

Thanks for posting the lyrics especially the English translation :)It's hard to follow when watching the anime. I've read/own the manga and after reading the translated version of Lonely in Gorgeous, it is obvious that Tommy made that song especially for the series. Yes, to a degree it is somewhat of a spoiler. It makes me sad just thinking about it. Like I've said before, despite my apprehension toward this series, I'm really surprised at how much I've liked it--more so the manga than the anime. In pretty much concur with everyone else. If they did without the SDs, the ridiculus random animal/critter transitions, and fix Arashi's VA and appearance, I think that would greatly increase the quality of the series.

In a side note with the way the anime is progressing, do you guys think the animators will be able to go through the entire manga (without compromising too much of the story) by the last episode? I think it's very possible.

Garten, the only time the scenario made sense with the lyrics [sort of] was when Tommy and Co. as pseudo-cops try to catch the "bad boy." Where the heck are you, you bad boy! Reminds me of the theme song "Bad boys, bad boys whatcha gonna do" theme song. To top it all off she is shown eating a donut as shown in the screen capture. Watch it Tommy, you don't want to get fat!

Paradise Kiss just started on Animax. Loved the theme song the moment I heard it. The video is kinda cool in a weird odd way (and yes i know that she's not even trying hard to pretend that she's drunk) but kinda wished she used the anime for her video too. She should come up with 2 vids.
