Well, I hope you're hungry because I have tens of food screenshots here. :D Well, this episode surprises me a little bit because I didn't expect to get a new ED theme. To be honest, what I really want is a new OP since the current OP is not that hot. The 1st ED was actually kind of good but the new one is not bad as well and comes with a slight Spanish touch. I am mostly happy because the ED now incorporates Shishio Gen, who happens to be my favourite character in this series. It seems as if it'll be ages before he's incorporated into the series but I hope the wait worth it. This episode itself is a lot lighter in comparison to the one before it. I am surprised that the writers split this story into two episodes though. I really thought that they could have squeezed everything into just one episode.
Yoshimori has just finished baking three different of cakes when he drops a mug from a cupboard. In order to piece together the mug, Yoshimori decides to summon a little Shikigami and gets in trouble by his grandpa because of it. At school, Kanda Yurina notices a peculiar Ayakashi standing on top of the school's wall but she decides to ignore it. The Ayakashi proceeds to enter the school and steals a student's Curry Pan without the student being able to see it. The same goes with the Karaage Chicken, Ebi Fry, Tamagoyaki, Chocolate Cream Pan, and Yakisoba Pan. The only person who spots the creature is Tokine, who notices it when it eats Donut at the cafetaria. She tries to follow it but loses her lead when she bumps into a student. Tokine thinks this is strange because she normally can sense an Ayakashi. Meanwhile Yoshimori is eating his lunch when he spots the Ayakashi but he also loses track of the creature.
Meanwhile, Tokine is about to use Shiki to find the whereabouts of the Ayakashi when Kanda mistook her as Yoshimori's older sister. Tokine remembers that Kanda is capable of seeing spirits so she asks the girl if she recently sees anything weird. Kanda quickly describes seeing the same Ayakashi that Tokine saw earlier and takes Tokine to look for it. Tokine, however, can't shake her annoyance that Kanda keeps referring her as Yoshimori's older sister. On a hindsight, she admits that she does seem like Yoshimori's older sister. Kanda eventually leads Tokine to the wall where she first saw the creature. Upon checking the area, Tokine finds a group of moss in the area and decide that she can track the Ayakashi by looking for the presence of moss elsewhere. Meanwhile inside the teacher's room, one of the teacher wonders if Yoshimori's teacher is the one who eats her box of sweets. He denies this since his own Ichigo Daifuku was also eaten by someone.
At the same time, Yoshimori finds the Ayakashi that he saw earlier when he was on his way to sleep on the rooftop. The Ayakashi is apparently known as "Uro-sama" (Lord Uro). Yoshimori is amused by the donuts that got stucked on the Ayakashi's head but before he can touch them, a little creature comes out of the Ayakashi's head, ordering Yoshimori not to touch Lord Uro. The creature introduces himself as Lord Uro's aide, Mamezo. Unfortunately for Mamezo, Lord Uro ends up taking the donuts where Mamezo was sitting in and almost eat the creature alive. Upon seeing this, Yoshimori realises that the creatures are not bad so he tells them to go away or else he has to exterminate them. He then creates a Kekkai around himself so he can sleep peacefully. When Yoshimori wakes up later on that evening, however, he finds out that Lord Uro is still sitting next to him. Mamezo also tells him that Lord Uro needs a Kekkaishi.
As a result, Yoshimori decides to take Lord Uro back to his house and much to his surprise, his grandpa prepares a feast for the Ayakashi. Shuuji is worried that he cooks too much food for everyone but grandpa tells him to keep the food coming. True enough, Lord Uro immediately devour the food. Since Shuuji doesn't have power, however, it looks as if the entire food just disappears right in front of him. Meanwhile, Yoshi's grandfather believes that the fact Lord Uro has come here again means something. At the same time, Tokine describes her encounter to her grandma and the old hag pretty much guesses that she saw Lord Uro. Tokine's grandma explains that Lord Uro oversees nature and is pretty much similar to a God/deity. The guy appeared 50 years ago and grandma wonders if he has broken his bed again. Back to Sumimura household, grandpa explains that Lord Uro is the deity that protects this area and lives in the nearby marsh.
From time to time, Lord Uro's bed needs to be repaired and it's their responsibility to do it. Yoshi's grandpa did it 50 years ago and he wants Yoshi to do it now. However, they need to do it carefully since the bed belongs to a deity. Later on that day, Yoshimori is about to bake the cake when he realises that Lord Uro has been sitting in the kitchen as well. As a result, he decides to let the guy choose the kind of cake that he'd like to eat. After looking at the recipe book, Lord Uro settles on donuts so Yoshimori decides to make a bucketload of donuts for the deity. After cooking them, Yoshimori decides to use the opportunity to ask Lord Uro question about Karasumori site and its mysterious power. Mamezo immediately scolds Yoshimori for acting like he's familiar with the deity but Yoshimori simply ignores him. Unfortunately, Lord Uro seems far more interested in making donuts skewers than answering the question that Yoshimori has put out.
Eventually, however, he tells Yoshimori that once upon a time was a deep dark forest around here. Lord Uro admits that he used to live in the middle of that forest. It was a dark and peaceful place but one day a man appeared in that forest. That man asked Lord Uro if he'd be willing to give the place to him since he needs the power of this place. At first Lord Uro refuses but because the man built a much better home for him, Lord Uro eventually became a sellout. Yoshimori asks if the man in question was Lord Karasumori but Lord Uro doesn't answer the question. That night while patrolling the Karasumori site with Madarao, Yoshimori ponders about the information that he has received thus far. He, however, wonders about the identity of the man that Lord Uro was talking about. Since his family is the one who fix the deity's bed, Yoshimori assumes that the man must be related to them. Naturally, he thinks that the man must be his or Yukimura's ancestor.
Yoshimori believes that the man was possibly Hazama Tokimori. However, if this is true, then the story about Hazama being hired by Lord Karasumori to terminate Ayakashi is not accurate. Yoshimori is especially puzzled as to why the man would need the power of this place. Later on Tokine arrives on the area and based on her info, Yoshimori guesses that her grandma and his granpa once fixed Lord Uro's bed together. Yoshimori, however, doesn't want Tokine to come with him so he tells her that he can do the job on his own. The next day, Yoshimori and his grandfather head towards the marsh. Their journey lead them to a pond in the middle of the marsh. Lord Uro then unleashes some kind of whirlwind which opens the pond so that they can get inside it. Yoshi's grandfather then asks Yoshi to go while he waits outside. Yoshi agrees to jump into it but once he does it, he can't seem to remember what he's doing at the moment.
ED Theme: 「世界中どこを探しても」- Sekaijuu Doko wo Sagashite mo by Aiko Kitahara - AVI format (14.5MB)
Impression:
Seeing all of the Japanese foods on display in this episode makes me want to go back to Japan right away. Man, I miss those foods. I mean, I can still get most Japanese foods where I live but obviously the variety and options are not as diverse as if you actually live in Japan yourself. Anyway, the main plot here is actually the identity of the man who asked Lord Uro to obtain the land where Lord Uro used to live in. I think Yoshimori was right in guessing that it was Hazama Tokimori who requested the land. The question is, why did he need the power in the first place? It makes me wonder if Hazama Tokimori was a good man in the first place. Is it possible that he might be the one who caused the massacre of the Karasumori's castle a long time ago? Otherwise, why would he need the power of the site? The other possibility is that the man was Lord Karasumori and he wanted to build a successful Kingdom. However, the plan backfired and the land attracts Ayakashi, which ended up killing him and his family.

On the next episode: Old people were once young too!!
Old people were once young too haha!! Lord Uro looks like Sir Radish Spirit haha
From Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi? ...Maybe lol
I didn't like this episode too much because I saw it in raw form so I didn't get a lot of what was going on. The next episode is a really sweet and touching one, epsiode 18 is also a great one. I agree the OP song really needs to be changed. I'd love it to be that one song we often hear at the very start of most episode (the one with the guy yelling "GET AWAY FROM HERE")
Don't get too attached with Gen. If you already know what I mean, it's sad, but if you don't...just be prepared.
I think Uura Saeka's Lalalala Ayakashi Night OP is pretty good(I have weird tastes, I like Kaidoku Funou too), but Akai Ito(the ED) is excellent.
To Madarao=awesome!:
Please use spoiler tags next time for us viewers who do not read the manga or have not caught up to the future arcs. ;____;
Yeah, as Hyourinmaru said, Uro-sama looks an awful lot like the Daikonman from Spirited Away. That's what I call him, anyway. Daikon...
Madarao=awesome: "it's sad", yes it is... :'( but I agree. next time use spoiler marks.
I just recently started watching this anime and I find it entertaining and full of mystery and I like the ending song.
I wonder why the two grand parents are fighting now like crazy because they seemed to like each other when they were young ...
Oh and I love the new ending
Hey guys, new here.I just want to know if anyone knows the name of the slow song that they play alot in this anime. It's not on the original soundtrack b/c i have it and its not there. If u know the name of it please post the name of it and who wrote it..Thanxz.
wow. we hold opposite views. gen's appearance marked the beginning of the end for me. on the other hand, i haven't seen entries on the more recent episodes from you, while i'm suffering through the end that just won't end. because i'm a masochist, or because my husband insists he must finish everything he's started, i'm not sure which.
it started out promising enough. i thought the cake baking was a good way to make yoshimori different from all the other shonen heroes. but then everything got more and more hackneyed, the mangaka didn't know which hackneyed shonen theme he should put at the center--the brother rivalry, the deadly enemy, the vengeance arc. plus, towards the end there are huge plotholes--i won't comment specifically since i don't want to risk spoiling you, in case you haven't seen the later episodes (tho it sounds like you already know the entire manga).
what's sad is i don't even want to rewatch the earlier episodes now that i know what this series later becomes.
