Well, this is probably the last Fall series I'll pick up. I wasn't sure if I want to do this but I really like the manga and am keen to at least check out how the anime adaptation will turn out. Plus, I think I haven't got a light romantic comedy series in my plate at the moment. Karin is a perfect fit for this because despite its vampiric backdrop, it's actually quite light and I don't think this will change anytime soon even if the plot takes a slightly sadder tone in the future. Honey and Clover fans will probably be interested to know that Takahashi Mikako, who voiced Yamada Ayumi in that series will have a minor role in this series as the best friend of the main character. Having said that, please be aware that this series is quite different in tone and narrative-style from Honey and Clover. I think you're going to be disappointed if you watch this and expecting to see Honey and Clover.

About the series
Karin is a series about a vampire girl who gives out blood to the people that she bites. Her family thinks that this is a sham since Karin is practically the only vampire in their family who can't suck blood out of her victims. However, Karin's little sister, Anju, is concerned about Karin and has assigned herself to look after her klutzy older sister. At the same time, a male student called Usui Kenta has recently transferred into Karin's school. Kenta for some reason is capable of increasing Karin's blood level, forcing her unable to stay close to him for a long period of time. This quickly becomes problematic because Kenta ends up not only becoming Karin's classmate, but also her new co-worker at the shop where Karin works part-time. To complicate matters, the arrival of Kenta and his mother into town has suddenly attracted the attention of Ren, Karin's older brother.
I hope the summary above will reveal right away that this series is in no way can be classified as horror despite its subject matter. But in case, I've mislead anyone with it, I'll just say now that Karin is purely a romantic comedy series with some interesting characters and equally interesting storyline. I personally like every single character in this series although I can see some people being annoyed by Karin's slightly klutzy behaviour. Part of the thing that attracts me to Karin is the simple character design, which for some reason reminds me of Midori no Hibi characters. Kenta's character design especially reminds me of Seiji even though different person authors each series. The animation will be handled by J.C Staff who recently has done a good job on both Honey and Clover and Shakugan no Shana. So I'm hoping that the animation will be decent at the very least.

When I first looked at the image, I thought the guy looked alot like Seiji too!
Does she wear neko mimi?
Chris, as far as I know, that will be a 'No'. Sorry. Give it a try though, you may find it still as interesting even without the neko mimi ;)
Just a quick comment - I saw this article while browsing for pics of Boogie.
Karin is a good show and I really hope there will be a second season although it's not looking likely.
Apart from one episode where the Maaka clan try to frighten Kenta into silence, it's a very sweet and romantic comedy and I enjoyed it a lot. Even Boogie, who seems caustic and selfish in the beginning turns out to be a softie. Anju is my fave character, and I wish there had been a couple more episodes featuring her.
This anime rocks, the character development was amazingly well put together and it actually compelled me to watch all the episodes in one sitting.
Im addicted to this anime! please help me stop it, ehehe.. even though i already seen all the episodes, i still wanna watch it all over again! please help me!!!
I love karin!! Im also addicted to anime and i can't stop watching it!! Karin is so funny
