This is actually a re-make of the original version that was aired 3-4 years ago. Despite this, I'm probably one of the few people who don't know anything about this series. I still haven't seen the original version and I have no idea about the storyline. I supposed that is a blessing in disguise because if I do end up watching this, then I won't compare it with the old version. The brief promo available on the official site, however, suggests that this will at least be a good-looking series like Air. I guess this means I have to start watching Air since I actually never watched more than the first two episodes of that series. At the very least I'll know what kind of story I can expect from this one.
While I liked the original Kanon anime, it left a lot of questions un-answered and purists complained that it was not faithful to the game. Apparently Kyoto Animation's Air got a good reaction. Kyoto saw potential in Kanon and decided to remake a more "fan faithful" version, I guess.
This has to be good, I mean, the animation is beautiful and Yuichi no longer has his Chin of Death.
Yeah this trailer was a complete good surprise to me :P
The original anime was good but, as wildarmsheero said, it left a lot of questions un-answered...
With the same super animation of Air of course this has to be a good show... and Yuuichi's face is much more likable :D
In this brazilian site you can also know more things (fake or not) about the new Kanon series:
http://www.animeblade.com.br/noticias/1143551111
Summing it all, it's said that "the new Kanon series will have more episodes (24) than the original (12). It will start in October in Japan and the anime will have the same OP and ED of the game (Last regrets and Kaze no tadoritsuku basho) and the same of the last episode of the original Kanon."
Garten already said the rest!
I have high hopes for this remake... :D
Actually I believe Kanon may be best enjoyed while knowing next to nothing about it. :) Just wait for Fall 2006 and watch it as it is.
You have no idea how envious I am.... :P
Kanon by far exceeds Air in making you cry. Kanon is to me one of the top saddest animes in existance.
Avariceon... thats quite a commendation, actually it could be considered an insult...
Kanon was good in all ascpects except that i hated the female lead. I know its moot, but i'm praying for a different ending scenario.
That's awesome news. I never watched the first Kanon ( In spite of the "great" Yuuichi Chin of Death, and the crappy animation from Toei ) So I'm looking REALLY forward to this KyoAni re-make.
And that's because I'm a KyoAni Fanboy, best.animtaion.studio.ever :)
But nonetheless, that made my day :3 Now, I would be just compleet, if KyoAni ever decided to animate a movie or OVA of the VN Planetarian, from Key Too
Wow!! What a pleasant surprise! I was about to watch the old version, so maybe I better wait for this remake. =D
By the way, I LOVED Air, so Im really happy about this.
Now I only need an anime of Planetarian! Pleaaaseeee!!!
Long live to Key!! Yeay!
