Hmm, unfortunately I still can't make up my mind about this series so I am not putting it on my regular list like Darker than Black for now. I just can't seem to tolerate cute characters like I used to. It doesn't help that my time for blogging seems to be thinning lately. The good thing about the series is that the background images are quite nice so that's an incentive to go back and see it. If I don't end up covering the series regularly, I'd probably still post impression about it in one giant post about series that I've seen within a week. I know a few people have asked about the possibility of covering other series from this season. The thing is, I am not that excited about most of them to be able to do a full summary post. However, I may be able to post short impressions for 3-4 series that I've seen and put them all in one entry. I'll give it a try in the next few days just to see if people like the idea of reading just the impression.

Continuing from the previous episode, Karin asks the man with the glasses what he meant by 'Kami-sama'. Instead of answering the question, however, the man tells Karin he knows she's alone and has done a lot of investigation on her. She doesn't have her parents anymore and only opens her heart to her friend, the cat. However, the grave in front of her is her friend's grave. When Karin wants to know why the man has been investigating her, the man admits that she wants to get rid of the ring. However, in return he'd revive her friend. The man claims that if they use her ring, they can do it. He then produces a sphere ball and asks Karin to place her ring in it. In desperation for not wanting to be alone anymore, Karin decides to put her ring in the sphere. At the last second, however, Kazune appears and snatches the ring from the man. Kazune then scolds Karin, telling her that there's no such thing as bringing back the dead.

He tells Karin that she shouldn't dwell so much on the past and reminds her that she told him that the ring was the most important thing to her. The man with the glasses is unhappy to see this and wonders if Kazune really wants to make Karin a God. In response Kazune tells him that the ring is Karin's important ring so he didn't take it back because he wants her to be a God. The two decide to settle this by fighting so glasses man summons a sword while Kazune summons a bow and arrow. Kazune then tells Karin to run away like a good girl and Karin follows accordingly. Much to Karin's surprise, she meets Himeka just as she tries to get away from the area. Himeka tells her that Kazune was making scary face so she's worried about Karin. She then tries to get Karin to get away from the area but ends up heading towards the area where Kazune and glasses man are fighting. The two, however, screams around asking help and drives the scary man away.

After the man left, Karin asks Kazune to explain the whole God thing so Kazune promises her that he'll explain it all tomorrow. The next day, however, everything returns to normal. Karin gets her low score as usual, causing her to think that what happened to yesterday was dream-like. On her way after school, however, Karin overhears several girls talking about a 'cool' guy who's waiting for someone. Upon looking at the guy in question, Karin realises that he's none other than Kazune accompanied by Himeka. As they walk together, Karin feels awkward so she tries to make small chat, talking about how she loves Spring. Unfortunately for her, Kazune hates Spring. Their conversation comes to a halt when Himeka runs back to them carrying two branches in her hand and then falls flat on her face. As it turns out, Himeka has come to show them the bugs that she found nearby. Kazune freaks out upon seeing this and demands Himeka not to get close to him.

All three eventually go to Kazune and Himeka's expensive room in a hotel. This causes Karin to realise that Kazune and Himeka's world are different from her world. Kazune then asks Karin what she thinks about 'God' and Karin responds by saying that it's someone with great power. Kazune, however, tells her that is the wrong answer and instead tells her that a God is someone who protects. He also tells her that the ring on her finger allows her to borrow the power of God. While Kazune and Karin talk, a bored Himeka looks through the window and notices a crow. She tries to mention it to Kazune but since he doesn't pay attention, she goes out and fetch the letter on the crow's mouth. At the same time, Kazune asks Karin if she still remembers the glasses guy and warns her that he's actually their enemy. All of a sudden, Kazune and Karin realise that Himeka has disappeared. Kazune remembers Himeka's words about a crow and decide to look for her.

Karin decides to follow him and the two go back to Shi-chan's grave but they can't find Himeka there. While looking for her, "Meganeko" appears on top of a tree, wondering why they're the one who come here when it's Himeka that he wanted to lure out. The guy is annoyed that Karin keeps calling him "Meganeko" and tells the girl that his name is Karasuma Kirio. Karin then proceeds to embarass herself and Kazune by threatening to defeat Kirio unless he tells them Himeka's whereabouts. Kirio then summons his sword again and throws projectile towards Karin and Kazune. The two manage to evade the attack but Kazune warns Karin that the attack could absorb her power. Karin is horrified to see this and wants to be able to use her power so Kazune suggests that she thinks of wanting to protect someone. All of a sudden, however, Himeka appears showing off the butterfly that she has captured. Kazune freaks out to see this especially after the creature fly off the cage.

Himeka explains to Karin that she got a letter from glasses guy, telling her that there are butterflies around here. Karin finally realises that Himeka wasn't missing. She just went off on her own. Kirio plans on taking the power from the three kids and uses his sword to throw another projectile. Before the attack can reach Karin, however, Himeka moves forward and takes the attack instead. Himeka is quickly out cold while Karin panics because Kazune is now unconscious due to his fear of butterflies. Karin suddenly feels tremor on her body when she expresses her desire to protect Kazune and Himeka. Karin then transforms into her Goddess version, which according to Kirio is called "Kamika". Kirio, however, knows that Karin still can't do anything so he intends on getting Himeka's power from her. In response, Karin unleashes her power but because she's new at this, she can't control it. Kazune, however, manages to enter her power field and calms her.

Kazune orders Kirio not to lay a finger on Himeka. He then summons his bow and arrow and asks Karin to imagine the light and channel it into his arrow. Karin is not sure if she can do this but Kazune assures her that she's not alone. Karin eventually manages to send her power to the tip of Kazune's arrow, allowing Kazune to send the arrow to attack Kirio. Kirio immediately disappears upon contact with the arrow. Karin is happy to see this and hugs Kazune but she quickl passes out because she overexerts herself. In the aftermath, the three kids sit around at night near the river. Karin marvels at the power of wanting to protect someone and thanks Kazune for telling her that she's not alone. Moroever, she now has 'Kamisama' power. Upon hearing this Kazune corrects her by saying that she's still just 'Kamichama' at this point. The episode ends with Himeka revealing that Karin is going to come with them to the school in the city.

Impression:

The storyline is actually kind of interesting but again, I can't stand the cuteness. I'm kind of interested to know as to why Kirio is looking for Himeka's power. Since this is anime, it's likely that Himeka will probably be Karin's enemy in the future. I think the opening theme kind of spoils this a little bit. There is a shot of this older girl who fights Karin and looks like a mature version of Himeka. It's also hard not to feel sorry for Karin for feeling lonely all the time. Although to be honest, I could never understand why someone would mind being on their own from time to time. I know some relatives who feel miserable if they don't have anyone to talk to after only a few hours. I always wonder why they'd feel this way when there are many things you can do on your own. I do enjoy the company of other people but it's nice having some time without anyone around. Otherwise, how do you get things done and have free time for yourself?

I don't think that's Himeka's other self in the preview. It's actually another goddess working with Kirio.

But yeah, Himeka does have another self, a weaker one, that lives with karasuma.

The Kamika is Nyx. The person is

Kirika, who is actually a trap and we are waiting for the Karin x Kirika hot sexx0r action that happens!

The series was supposed to be a 2 chapter gag manga only... Somehow it got popular and went for more instead. Hence the liberal dosing of SDness.

Personally, I think that just giving your impressions or analysis of an episode is a good alternative course of action, if you're pressed for time. Well, it's usually the part that I look forward to the most when I read a series blog entry.

BTW how's Kekkaishi fairing in your schedule? After a month long break, there's gonna be new episodes starting tomorrow.

I think that it's ok to made quick impression since you're not exited in doing full summary. And if this story impress you, then I think you should made full summary. I just love your full summary.

By the way, I love my free time without anyone around. Lots of things can be done.

Himeka is not evil. She's actually...

the daugher of Professor Kujyou and his wife, Karin.

That dark goddess is

Nyx. She is actually Kirika, Kirio's twin brother. (Kirika is a girl, but pretends to be a boy.)

Kazune and Karin are

clones. Kazune is the clone of Professor Kujyou and Karin is his wife. That sorta makes Himeka their daughter, too.

May 28, 2007 | Kiseki wrote:

@ TheUnknown

Actually, Professor Kujyou's wife's name is Suzuka.

The anime is pretty messed up though. ^^; Art okay, animation okay, but the plot is slightly different due to involving -Chu- in it.

;] I watched episode 8. Just random things that weren't in the manga at all.

Everyone hates Himeka's voice, ne? xP
