First of all thanks to those who emailed/left comments about Honey and Clover 2nd season. It's really appreciated. Well, I'm both excited and worried about the news. Just like any other fan of this series, I've been hoping for a second season of this awesome series. Having said that, I'm a bit worried about it since the projected airtime is sometime this year, possibly starting in summer. If this had been announced as a spring 2007 project, I'll be completely happy because there would have been enough manga material for the second season. As it is now, however, there wouldn't be enough chapters to cover a 24 episode series so I'm a bit concerned. But then again, parts of Chapter F contains some original story and that was actually quite funny so maybe I'm all worried for nothing. Anyway, either way I'm excited about this and can't wait to see the 2nd series. Moving on to other Hachikuro-related thread, here are some scans of the 6th DVD volume.

How to make puppet Hagu
Hagu Paper Part 1 - New
Hagu Paper Part 2 - New
This time around the extras is kind of limited but it's hard to complain when the previous volume already included the long awaited Chapter L and the volume that comes after this includes Chapter F. The slip cover of the DVD features Shuuji, Harada, and Rika. It's a very nice image that reminds me of the tight bond of friendship between the three characters. The front cover of the DVD features the usual collage of moments in the series while the back cover has one large image of Takemoto, Ayu, and Hagu in the middle of night festival. The paper-based extra this time around is a Hagu cardboard puppet. You have to construct it by cutting the model then fold it based on the dotted lines. Unfortunately I'm too lazy to do this but I included the 'How to make Hagu' instruction in case you're curious about it. The extras within the DVD itself include a creditless version of the 2nd opening theme, Dramatic, and 2nd ending theme, Mistake.
The most interesting extra, however, is the conversation between Ueda Yuuji and Sugita Tomokazu. It begins with Ueda Yuuji teasing Sugita Tomokazu by asking him to do his best in regards to Kudou Haruka. LOL, I didn't know there's something going on between Sugita Tomokazu and Kudou Haruka. But of course nothing is confirmed because even though Ueda Yuuji keeps saying that Kudou Haruka is interesting and wishes Tomakazu all the best, the other guy keeps blushing and denying everything. I'm just mostly amused with the fact that in real life, Ueda Yuuji is quite similar personality-wise to Morita. He's not as insane as Morita but I can definitely see that the teasing banter the two have as Morita and Mayama extends a bit to real life. Anyway, then unfortunately moves to the usual scripted question such as what kind of scene the actors find difficult to perform. It appears that despite Morita's quality singing, Ueda Yuuji finds singing to be quite difficult to do.
On the other hand, Sugita Tomokazu finds the scene that he had with Takahashi Mikako's Ayumi to be the most difficult he has to perform. In a rather surprising revelation, however, Tomokazu admits that he can't really identified with Mayama much. There are occasions when he does felt this but in general, he doesn't seem to like his character's behaviour. Anyway, the question then goes a bit silly and start asking things like "Love and Money, which one do you prefer?" so of course both actors choose love instead. Oh well, I had a rather fun time watching this mostly due to the friendship banter between the two actors. I think this explains why the Morita and Mayama scenes are so funny sometimes. And I swear I heard either Kudou Haruka or Takahashi Mikako giggling all the way through the interview from behind the scene. I can't wait to hear all of them again in the second season. I hope no one gets replaced since I think all of the are perfect.

Will you do up Hagu cardboard puppet? :p If you do, please show us the final work! :D Hagu puppet looks so cute from the picture. XD
Hmm, maybe if I have the time. Unfortunately my schedule is quite hectic lately. Plus, the thing reminds me of the paper construction projects I used to do when I was in primary school. And I hate those projects. XD
What's Chapter F about? will we be seeing this on any torrent sites soonish? im so want the dvd!! The interview sounds interesting as well, wonder if ppl are gonna sub it ? hopefully they do!
I attempted the Hagu paper craft a while back, and it came out awfully, mainly because I really, really suck at this kind of thing, and this one has some really, really fiddly parts to work with. Oh, and it took me something insane like five hours to complete it, even as badly done as it is.
Oh, and for the curious - yes, it is (amazingly) still standing!
isn't honey & clover being made into a live action movie? ... and if so, any idea on what the movie will be about? ... i'm really excited about 2nd season H&C but i'm afraid that production and animation quality might decline. thnx for the updates though!!
ps: i'm a big fan of your site
It just doesn't seem right to air the new season of Honey & Clover in the summer. This show should always be reserved for the spring season. Still, more Honey & Clover is always welcome (as long as JC Staff continues to handle the animation). Morita rules!!
I got a question, in the picture you have of the interview, there's a giant doll sitting on the chair...whats with that? Is that the interviewer? Or is it just a prop? had that doll ever appeared on Honey & Clover?
oh my gah. our dreams came true.. *cries*
DigiKerot, that's a good job. I wouldn't even have the patience to glue the items together.

Yes, there is a live action film being made right now. I have no idea what the story will be about though.

That giant teddy bear doesn't talk at all. It simply holds a sign containing the question which is then read by the actors. I forgot his name but it has appeared in the series, in episode 24 to be precise. See the last few batch of the images there. In the manga, it's the avatar that Umino Chika, the author of the series, uses when she needs to represent herself in the manga.
Whoa..thanks for the dvd review..really appreciated Garten ;)..and also eagerly waiting for the next dvd review :P
Looking forward for the 2nd season and hopefully will be even better than the 1st season..from what i read in animesuki forum..someone confirmed that the second season will start airing on july..hopefully this will give a good gap for manga to not be caught up by anime.
Takemoto rules :P
Thanks for the news on the 2nd season, Garten. ^^ One thing I would like to ask to on one in particular: will the new season follow the manga storyline? If it's going to air in July, I think it may overtake the manga...but whatever way Hachikuro goes, I hope the continued stroyline will live up to the 1st season. ^_^
And thanks for the dvd review too, I absolutely enjoyed the interview (thanks to your translation) between Ueda Yuuji and Sugita Tomokazu.
Lastly, they should make cardboard puppets out of the whole H&C gang...that would be real interesting... :)
Weils, I assume that will be the case. I don't think there's a point in creating their own storyline when there are some manga materials available. I also remember that some earlier manga chapters were skipped/not included in the first season so maybe they'll include those chapters now. Unfortunately many source seems to believe that it will indeed air in July this year. But let's just hope it'll turn out as good as the first season.
Maybe their trying to match up the timelines? The first season of Honey and Clover started in the spring. Episode 24 of Honey and Clover ended around late summer.
Thanks for the news, Garten!!! I can't wait for the new season of Honey & Clover to come out. I hope they keep using Spitz and Suga Shikao inserts songs.
Aaaww that paper board thing is so cute! I'd like to try it out though! Would you mind scanning all the parts at a 1/1 scale / 300 dpi please?
About the movie, a recent "Mago Mago Arashi" (a tv show from the j-group "Arashi" whom Sho Sakurai, aka Takemoto Yuuta, belongs to) was taking place near the shooting of a H&C Live Action scene (seaside) and Sho came to say hi to his fellows who were about to start their show... XD I hope they'll finish it soon! Sho will be lovely~
I'm sorry Sandy but I can't do such high-res scanning at the moment since the computer that I use to scan images is quite old and it takes forever just to scan 72 dpi images lately. I can scan them at 72 dpi but this will have to wait since I have a lot of review backlogs to go through and the Spring season is coming in the next few days. That's why I only scanned one of them because I didn't have the time to scan the entire thing. But I'll try to add the rest into the image gallery I provided above once things slow down a little bit.
Sorry for giving you another scannign request... and I know this request is a little silly, but while you're at it, would you mind terribly scanning the front of the DVD cover, too? I kinda collect them. ^___^
Can you please post or email me the rest of Hagu cardboard puppet, please? pretty please? I really want to make it, but I can't find it anywhere to buy it. If there is anywhere else that I can find it please someone let me know!!! Thank you so much! ^_^ my email is fertonan@bellsouth.net
Hehe, no worries, it's not in a hurry! Just send me a quick mail to sandy[at]driftingheart.net when you'll have them up (I'm not checking that page of your site in particular every day XD). ^_^ I hope things go well for you! Always reading your reviews... I didn't know which new animes to start but you definitely made me download Haruhi Suzumiya and Nana! XD Can't wait for H&C 2 too! >.
Sandy >> That shooting was for the new Kizarazu Cats Eye movie, not Honey & Clover.
