I really need to remind myself not to watch this series late at night. The last scene from this episode induced what I call a 'silent scream'. This is the kind of scream that you'd normally find in Japanese horror movies. In these kind of film, you'd see a character clearly screaming but audio-wise, you can't hear anything. I always find such scene to be rather disturbing because it visually represents the unspeakable horror that the character has to endure. Much to my displeasure, I felt this way upon seeing that last scene. Having said that, this series is just amazing. This is truly one of those series where the story makes you frustrated and excited at the same time. Of course, the addition of the horror doesn't hurt either. It's unfortunate that the animation is kind of lousy and I did think that some of Mion's shots in this episode look rather bad. In fact, in comparison to the manga, the Mion in anime looks rather bad. Just take a look at the image below:

Sonozaki Mion (manga version)

The episode opens with Keiichi telling Rena that he's going to take a break from school for a while. Because of this, Rena comes to his house to give him circulation notices. Keiichi, however, wonders if Rena wants to ask him about anything. Rena wonders if Keiichi is talking about his breaking and entering the warehouse. Keiichi realises that even Rena is already aware about it. Rena suddenly slaps Keiichi and tells him that no one has scolded him about it so Rena decides to scold him instead. Keiichi apologises for making the mistake and tries to pick up the papers that he dropped when Rena slapped him. In doing so, he found a note saying how a relative in Akita has given someone a gourmet soy sauce so everyone is invited to come to Sonozaki household. Keiichi asks Rena if she's aware about this and Rena nods. Because of this Keiichi decides to go to Mion's house and apologises for it. Before Keiichi manages to do this, however, he and Rena are approached by Oishi.

While sitting inside the car, the two hears Oishi talking to his subordinates about the surveillance job that is currently happening outside the Sonozaki house. Oishi then tells Keiichi that unfortunately at the moment his lieutenant hasn't allowed anyone to begin the investigation yet. Because of this, the police can't search or interrogate anyone at the moment. Upon hearing this, Rena becomes a bit angry at Oishi because she knows he's trying to make Keiichi to go into Sonozaki's household as a bait. She also knows that if something were to happen to Keiichi, he'll use the excuse to search the house. Rena is angry at him because Oishi's plan could endanger Keiichi's life. She then storms out of Oishi's car and Keiichi ends up following her. Despite what she said to Oishi, both Rena and Keiichi end up going to Mion's house in the end. After being greeted by Mion, Keiichi apologises for entering the warehouse that night.

Mion, however, sarcastically tells Keiichi that if he thinks he did something bad then she guessed it's okay. Rena, however, tells Mion with serious tone that Keiichi is sincerely apologising to her so she thinks Mion should also respond sincerely as well. Mion tells Rena that she's being serious but Rena is not buying it. Rena is eventually fed up with Mion's playful tone and tells Keiichi that they should just tell Mion straight up about what they're here for. Because of this they tell her that they think Rika and Satoko came to Mion's house that night to ask for soy sauce. Rena thinks that Mion took Rika and hid her. Rena also thinks that should have been the end but Mion didn't count on the fact that Rika would told Satoko that she was going to Mion's place. Rena knows that this is how Mion managed to convince Satoko to come over. Mion suddenly trembles upon hearing this before bursting into insane laugh. She then messes up her hair before suddenly turning polite.

Mion then introduces herself as the heir to Sonozaki family, Sonozaki Mion. She tells Rena and Keiichi if there is any information she can tell them, she would like to speak as much as she can. She then asks the two if they were aware that Hinamizawa village used to be called Onigafuchi (Ogre's Abyss). Mion tells the two that their ancestors, the people of Onigafuchi are honourable people who carried the bloodline of the Ogre. However, the people from other villages called their ancestors demon and threw stones at the ancestors. Because of this, the people of Hinamizawa decides to band together to fight these outsiders. Mion then points out that back when Keiichi was harassed by the bikers, the people of Hinamizawa banded together to help him. To bring back the village of Hinamizawa as Onigafuchia nd to restore its reputation is the goal of those who share the ancestry of Onigafuchi. In addition to this, the Sonozaki family has the fate of inheriting the demon.

Mion explains how the Sonozaki family has a tradition of putting the kanji for 「鬼」- Oni (Ogre/demon) in their successor name. In Mion's case, her first character, 'Mi'「魅」, contains the kanji for Oni (Ogre/demon)「鬼」. Mion also tells Rena and Keiichi that the character is not the only thing that is inherited. Mion admits that there is a demon carved into her body. She is about to show the carving but Rena tells her that she does not need to show it to them. Mion then admits that she was involved in the murder in the past 5 years and in some of them, people outside the Sonozaki family were involved. Rena, however, tells Mion that despite saying that, Mion actually saved a person by her own will. In reply Mion tells Rena that she doesn't know herself why she didn't kill the person. She thinks that maybe a part of Mion that made her not want to kill this person. Keiichi doesn't understand what Mion meant by this but before he can ask the question, Rena stops him.

Mion then asks Rena if Oishi is outside and Rena admits that this is true. Mion wonders if there is a way out but Rena thinks there is not. Having said that, she offers to accompany Mion since she's her friend. Mion suddenly laughs and tells Rena that she can't argue with her. She, however, asks Rena if she can have 30 minutes alone with Keiichi. Keiichi and Mion then walk together out of the house and Mion asks Keiichi if she can actually hold his hand. Keiichi surprisingly doesn't mind. Mion then tells Keiichi that Shion also likes him and proceeds to inform him that Shion is still alive. Because of this, Mion asks Keiichi to come with her to show him the truths. Keiichi then tells Mion that regardless what happens, Mion will always be one of his best friends. Mion wonders why he and Rena manage to remain calm at a time like this. Mion then takes Keiichi to a secret hideout and tells Keiichi that she now knows why Mion likes him.

Keiichi is of course confused by this but nevertheless agrees to follow Mion into the hideout. She explains how some of the torture devices Keiichi saw inside the warehouse were used to enforce the strict laws of Onigafuchi village by killing those who broke the law slowly and for everyone to see it. Keiichi thinks that happened a long time ago but Mion proves him wrong by showing a torture room. She claims that Snozaki family created this place so they can carry on the tradition into the present day. Mion then tells Keiichi that she sits at a particular place while performing the Watanagashi skillfully. Keiichi then asks Mion about Shion's whereabouts so Mion takes him to the prison area. Mion, however, has thrown Rika and Satoko's body into the well because she doesn't want insects to infest their dead bodies. Keiichi then sees Shion imprisoned inside a cell in front of him. Shion is happy to see Keiichi but she immediately freaks out upon seeing Mion.

Shion tells Mion to kill her if Mion really hates her that much. Mion, however, tells Shion that if she wants to die that badly, she'll kill Shion after she kills Keiichi first. Mion then picks a large rock and uses it to bash Keiichi on the head. When Keiichi regains his consciousness, he finds himself strapped into the torture device. He also hears Mion telling Shion to enjoy Keiichi's scream from down there. Keiichi asks Mion who she really is because he doesn't believe that she is actually Mion but actually the Ogre. Mion smiles and tells Keiichi that once upon a time, the demon simply dwelled inside of her but one day something awakened it. Mion blames him for everything that has gone wrong. She claims that if back then she had given the doll to Mion, everything would have been okay. The demon claims that it wouldn't have been awaken if Keiichi didn't make Mion cry. She then changes the topic by talking about the torture method she's about to perform on Keiichi.

She claims that the torture is simple. She basically will put 15 nails in each hand, one driven to each finger joint. Before Mion can do it, however, something seems to hold it back. Keiichi tells Mion that if this is what it takes to soothe the demon inside Mion's body, he urges her to go ahead until it is satisfied. Having said that, he asks it to promise him two things in return. He wants it to forgive Shion go and to give the body back to Mion. Upon hearing this Mion wonders if Keiichi isn't going to beg for his life. Keiichi simply smiles and asks that in that case the third wish will be not to kill him. But unfortunately the demon said that Keiichi only asked for two things. Plus, since she is a demon, she may not keep her promise. But she thinks she can listen to his third wish since saving Shion is impossible and it can't give the body to Mion either. Mion then asks Keiichi if he can hear that sound. She believes Rena probably called Oishi because they haven't returned yet.

Mion then whispers to Keiichi that she's sorry for defiling Mion but Keiichi tells her that no matter what, the Mion inside him will never change. Mion suddenly cries upon hearing this and asks Keiichi to forget about her. She warns Keiichi to stay away from her if he sees her again after this. She believes because then it will be the demon that possesses her body. Mion then brings an electric shocker to Keiichi's neck and uses it to make him unconscious. When Keiichi regains his consciousness again, he and Shion has been saved by Rena and Oishi. However, Mion can't be found and neither the body of the other victims. After the incident, Keiichi and his parents decide to move away from Hinamizawa village. But before they manage to do this, Keiichi hears a bunch of rocks being thrown into his window by someone. As it turns out the person is Mion wanting to talk to him. When Keiichi approaches her, however, Mion convulses and loses control.

She then laughs like a nutcase and proceeds to stab Keiichi with her knife. Mion then tells herself that she finally kills everyone with her own hands. In another place, Oishi files a report about Shion, who seems to have fall to her death from her apartment. In her apartment, there are signs of struggle and unwashed dishes. Keiichi, however, is saved and is brought to a hospital. He decides to ask Oishi if he has found Mion but much to his shock, the police tells him that they found Mion's corpse alont with Rika and Satoko's corpse inside the well. On top of that, she seems to have been dead at the time when they barged into the hideout to save Keiichi and Shion. Oishi also mentions that Takano's body was actually found 24 hours after her death and that she was actually already dead when he sneaked into the warehouse with her and the others. After Oishi left, Keiichi is confused about the entire case but his confusion turns into terror when someone grabs his hand. The thing seems to be Mion, who is now seen bleeding and swings her hammer into him.

Summary of important points

1. Unlike in Onikakushi-hen, both Keiichi and Rena are on one side now because Rena is aware of Keiichi's mistake.
2. In addition to point 1, Rena knew that Oishi is trying to use Keiichi as a bait and told this fact outright.
3. Because there's no bad blood between Rena and Keiichi, Rena went out of her way to defend Keiichi in front of Mion.
4. Hinamizawa village used to be known as Onigafuchi/Ogre's Abyss
5. Mion revealed that she knew about Keiichi being saved by Hinamizawa villagers, this suggests that she's actually "Shion" that Keiichi met in front of the restaurant.
6. Sonozaki family's has a tradition of inserting the character for Ogre, 「鬼」into its successor name.
7. In Mion's case, the 'Mi'「魅」in Mion「魅音」contains the character for Oni (Ogre/demon)「鬼」.
8. Mion also pointed out that there is a tatoo of a demon carved into her body.
9. Mion admitted to be involved in some of the deaths in the past 5 years.
10. Some of these murders involved more than just Sonozaki family.
11. Mion told Keiichi that Shion likes him and is still alive.
12. Mion told Keiichi that she now understands why "Mion" likes him.
13. Mion explained that the Sonozaki family has built their own torture room to continue the Watanagashi ritual.
14. Shion was imprisoned inside the cell and asked Mion to kill her if Mion hates her that much.
15. The conversation between Keiichi and Mion suggested that Mion has been possessed by a demon.
16. Mion claimed that she wouldn't have been possessed by the demon if Keiichi had given the doll to her back in episode 5.
17. Mion asked Keiichi not to approach her if he sees her later on. Because the demon will have been possessing her body.
18. Keiichi got stabbed by Mion while the police found Shion dead after jumping from her apartment.
19. Oishi informed Keiichi that they actually found Mion's body in the well on the day they saved Keiichi and Shion.
20. Takano's body was found 24 hours after her death. That means she had been dead before Watanagashi festival.

Questions:
1. Who was "Mion" that Ren and Keiichi saw in this episode?
2. Did a demon really possess the girl?
3. If Mion was already dead, who tortured Keiichi and Shion?
4. If Mion was already dead, who stabbed Keiichi?

Impression:

Keiichi and Rena
Keiichi and Rena understand each other in this arc, which explains why they didn't go after each other's throat here. Rena, however, is still shown to be rather temperamental in this arc, which could explain why she looked scary back in Onikakushi-hen. It is likely that back then, Rena probably was just angry at Keiichi for withholding the truth from her. Her level of anger was probably similar to the one where she got angry at Oishi for trying to use Keiichi as a bait in this episode. However, due to Keiichi's paranoia in Onikakushi-hen, he thought she looked like a monster. In this arc, however, Keiichi doesn't seem to suffer from any paranoia, at least not at the start. He is also a lot braver here and reveals his true personality when he offers to die in exchange for Shion's safety and Mion's soul. Although one has to question both his and Rena's decision to stay by Mion's side even after she admitted her role in Rika and Satoko's death.

The secret of Hinamizawa
According to Mion, Hinamizawa village was actually called Onigafuchi village. The name literally means Ogre/demon's abyss and its residents are believed to carry demon's bloodline. It's hard to know whether or not Mion was telling the truth here because Mion appeared a bit off balance at times. In addition to this, it's unclear if viewers are supposed to sympathise with the village or see it as an evil entity. At one point, the episode seems to sympathise the villagers for being harrassed by the outsiders. But in other times, the episode suggests that these villagers are the freaks that the outsiders accused them to be. It's hard not to feel that way when Mion revealed that they did torture those who break the rules in front of other villagers.

Mion and her multiple personality
The biggest question here is who is Mion and if she was possessed by a demon. Judging from her sudden introduction to both Rena and Keiichi by using Hajimemashite (it's my first time to meet you), it was suggested that this is the first time whoever was talking as Mion met Rena and Keiichi. And the only 'person' who never met Rena and Keiichi before was the demon. However, this could simply mean that Mion is suffering from some kind of personality disorder. This is why she was switching back and forth from being Mion to being "The Demon". There is also a possibility that the girl was actually Shion pretending to be Mion because this Mion is unusually straight forward with wanting Keiichi to hold her hand. Or rather, the person that has been known as "Shion" all of these times by Keiichi is actually the real Mion, the head of Sonozaki family. See the seperate section about Mion and Shion below for more details about this.

Demon possession
At the moment, the series suggests that some kind of demon has taken over Mion's body. Admittedly, it's hard to figure out how Mion could be torturing Keiichi while her dead body is inside the well and Shion was imprisoned. The only way Mion could appear and disappear like she did in this episode only makes sense if it was actually her body being re-animated by the demon. As a side note, those of you who have seen Twin Peaks probably noticed that Mion's behaviour in this episode is quite similar to the way Leland Palmer behaved in that series. In Twin Peaks, it's suggested that there are evil entities that have been possessing people and making them disappear from time to time.

Takano Miyo didn't die that night
This is probably the easiest and most possible explanation for her being dead and yet sneaking around into the warehouse during Watanagashi festival. The fact that her body was found burnt down 24 hours after her death suggests that the body that was burnt down was actually not hers. She probably found a dead body of someone else and decided to burn it down 24 hours later after she got out of the warehouse. It's not known what she wants to achieve out of this but if she has a grudge against the village, this could be an easy way to suggests to the police that the villagers are dangerous to outsiders.

Wild Theories

Mion is Shion and Shion is Mion

This will be a bit hard to understand but I'll try to explain this. It's likely that the Mion that Rena and Keiichi know at school is actually Shion pretending to be Mion. The real Mion (the Sonozaki heir) is actually the girl whom Keiichi thought of as Shion. If you recall back in episode 5, Keiichi was harassed by a bunch of bikers but he was then helped by "Shion" and Hinamizawa residents. However, in this episode, Mion actually knows about the event. This suggests that the girl who claimed to be "Shion" to Keiichi back then is actually the real Mion, the head of Sonozaki family. Also noticed how Mion's body language in this episode (pressing Keiichi's hand to her breast) is similar to the way "Shion" body language in episode 5. On the other hand, the girl who claims to be "Mion" at school, is actually the younger daughter of Sonozaki family, Shion. To summarise this point:

The Sonozaki Heir = Mion = the girl known as "Shion" by others
The younger Sonozaki = Shion = the girl known as "Mion" by others.

The characters suffer from some kind of contagious Paranoid Schizophrenia

This will explains why Shion threw herself off the apartment while Keiichi got stabbed. What if these two suffer from the same condition that Keiichi suffers in Onikakushi-hen towards the end of this arc? That means, Shion actually thought she saw Mion inside the apartment and in her fear, jumped off the building. Similarly, Keiichi thought that he saw Mion stabbing him when in reality, it was him who stabbed himself. Notice how his hand was holding the knife together before he passed out. In addition to this, one will think that after an attempted murder on Keiichi, someone who has tried to use him as a bait like Oishi would have sent some police to watch over Keiichi. In the last scene, however, Mion suddenly appeared out of nowhere looking bloody no less. How could she goes into the hospital unnoticed? Of course, this is possible if the whole demon theory turned out to be true. But if there wasn't any demon involved at all, then the only possible explanation for Mion's sudden appearance is Keiichi's own imagination.

If we take Oishi's words to be the truth, then the following makes sense in order of events:
1) Rena and Keiichi met Shion in the house. Mion was in the jail.
2) That's up to debate, but I look at it as events corresponding to what happened to Keiichi in Onikakushi-hen.
3) I believe that Mion was killed and put in the well by Shion right after she fried him with her tazor and then went back to to Shion mode when the cops barged in.
4) Shion, in Keiichi full swing Onikakushi-hen mode.

I've posted what I believed were the events that led to Shion's actions on animesuki. Feel free to look if you want to a far-fetched plot idea.

I think:
1 - The real Mion, this thing of Mion being Shion and vice-versa the whole time is way too confuse...

2- I don't think it's a demon possession. Maybe some mental illness. But I'd consider the demonic possession plausible... In fact, admiting the demonic possession the story becames quite simple

3- Mion was alive back then, but switched places with Shion, that was in jail, after give a shock on keiichi and have killed her and threw her in the well.

4- The real Mion stabbed Keiichi, and then suicided as if she was Shion... The last scene could be just a delirium or a nightmare.

Well...
This theory of mine doesn't convince even me... heheheh

My head satisfies with the demon stuff being real either...

In my opinion is most probably that Mion was truly possesed by something or someone.
When she appears in the hospital room both sisters were confirmed to be dead, Mion from at least 1-2 days since Keiichi awakened at day and its unlikely that a person can recover from a deep chest stab in a few hours so ill suppose that some days have passed since Mions stabbed him, and Shion was confirmed dead too from the fall from her room.
So if both sisters were dead 100% unless theres a third brother (MGS2 anyone?:P) then the only possible answer is a possesion, unless Oishi lied about the corpses (unlikely)

About the oni tattoo in the back, only Mion has it. If you look the OP the hairstyle is Mion's one and i doubt that the sisters are switched in the OP (but its still possible, unlikely but possible).

And about the possible Paranoid Schizophrenia that could have killed Keiichi and Shion can be explained in the case of Shion: She halucinated things panicked and jumped from a window trying to escape. But not in Keiichi case, since he was still weak so he couldnt move at ease and i find it impossible that a person can kill himself in that state (and its suppossed that he dies in the room with his fingers/head cracked open).

May 28, 2006 | Garten wrote:

I did consider this possibility. But then I thought Shion (or Mion) will have to be a super woman in order to do this. The police was trying to barge through the door when she tazered Keiichi. And yet she still has to:

1. Run into the the underground prison and open the cell.
2 Struggle with Mion, kill Mion, change her clothes with Mion's
3. Take Mion out of the prison and dump her body into the well (which will take a while if you ever carry a human being of your own weight - Mion would have been caught red-handed at this point)
4. Return to the prison and lock herself.

Also remember that Mion (or Shion, again, whichever you choose) said that she didn't want insects to infest on the body of Rika and Satoko so I'd assume that the well is located away from the prison area.

And oh, I do think that Mion is Mion not Mion is Shion. That one was just a wild theory. In the game, there is actually one additional clue that wasn't mentioned in the anime:

*spoiler starts*

A broken syringe was found with Rika's corpse. I think the content of the syringe was meant to be injected into Mion but she failed to do so. So the likelihood was that Mion has gone nuts because she got infected with the same disease that infected Keiichi in Onikakushi-hen.

They don't state where the well is, so it could have in somewhere fairly close. But I won't deny the super-woman theory discounts what I said.

There is one other theory I came up with that could explain what happened. After shocking K1 with her tazer, Mion kills herself. Shion has been psychologically damaged enough to want to kill K1 when she goes to his place later.

Or it's as it is. It's the demon.

Okay, maybe that theory is a little over the top, but I really did wonder if the twins themselves really knew who was who.

Which makes the ending of Onikakushi-hen really sad, since it seems that Rena and Mion were trying to help K1 before he tried to play baseball with their heads.

So Rika couldn't help Mion so she stabbed herself in the head? I don't get what the point was of the suicide since they didn't show that part in this episode. I was looking forward to seeing that explained.

What if that disease Mion suffers from is contagious? If it induces insanity, then it's likely Rika is infected by it and she ends up losing sight of her intention to begin with. That will also explains as to why Shion threw herself off her apartment.

When Mion stabs Keiichi and start laughing like mad she says that she killed everyone with her own hands and that probably includes Shion too (Shion died in the night and Mion talks with Keiichi in the night too).

In extreme situations of fear in a closed area people often try to get the hell out of there, for example in a fire often people jumps through the windows even if its certain death if they panic enough, so is not hard to think that Shion encountered Mion in her apartment and she got paniced and jumped trying to escape(in the jail we see what kind of fear has Shion, she even beg Mion to kill her)
In this case even if she didnt kill Shion (and theres the possibility of Mion throwing her sister to the window too) at least was the direct cause of her death.

Aside this an interesting point is: What killed Mion?
They found her corpse but didnt tell the cause of death (wounds, poison, drugs, disease etc..)

Just wonder is there a novel, manga , or episode at the end where all the questions will be answer? Like the last episode of this anime or something, I really hate to play all these guessing games wish there at least provide us with all the answer in the end.

Split Image??

Why do you still see those two Girls in Preview of Episode 5??

Demons use recovery powers to recover the two being Destroyed Body and use them again and Again.

No Shouts of being hit by Keiichi's bat shows that Demons may ran out of the two body and then after being destroyed, they came back(Carrying those two people's Real Souls) and then Recover, use the two bodys again...???

If it is like this,..... how sad.... can't even Reincarnate...Haiz.....~Lolz~

Keiichi died again. Is there any arc where he actually makes it out alive? How does a bloodied girl make it to his room? Is there no one else in the hospital?

I also feel that his reaction to a murderer is a bit strange. I would have asked the police for a gun, sniper guard, or some form of protection.

Rena's temperamental in this arc but it's nothing close to her insanity in the first arc. Keep in mind that she was standing in the rain, harrassing Keiichi, and chasing him with a giant knife.

I am under the impression that it is *actually* a demon at work here, rather than just paranoid hallucinations.

My impression of what Oishi said at the end was that Takano had died 24 hours BEFORE the body was found in the morning, and that therefore she was already dead when she was leading the Shion and K1 around the warehouse. Since no less than 4 people (including Oishi himself apparently) saw Takano and acknowledged her, it means that the Demon was using Takano's image like a puppet, and it was not just some hallucination by K1 or Shion. It also means that Mion (or a demonic image of her) actually did come back from the grave to stab/hammer him.

In other words, the enemy is not human. It is an actual demon, able to use the corpses/image of those it had killed previously to lead others astray, or even to perform more killings. Based on this, it would be impossible for K1 to survive in most scenarios. Only 2 scenarios might favour his survival:

1) In order to fight something that is fundamentally not human, K1 must become more than human himself. Not likely this is 1983 and nanomachines/cybernetic upgrades/supersoldier serums are in short supply

2) Alternatively, and more likely he will need help from someone who knows exacly how the demon works and how to stop it. An exorcist of some sort most probably. Or the combined assistance of all 5 girls (Rena, Mion, Shion, Rika, Satoko)

Not here to voice a theory...just to express disappointment with this episode. The first arc was stunning, and episodes five and six maintained the momentum; however, in comparison, this arc is rather plain, and seems to outright suggest a supernatural cause (posession) to the murders, rather than than the surreal blur viewers were fed before. Also, none of this episode was really horrifying; if Higurashi is allegedly comparable to "Silent Hill", Mion's sudden appearance reduced the atmosphere to somethin along the lines of "Resident Evil".

Oishi said that he found Mion's body along with the victims... Takano was supposed to be dead 24 before the festival... Do you think it's possible that what possessed Mion possessed Takano first? It would explain why she was so gleeful when telling such a gruesome story and why she "trusted" Shion (who might have actually been Mion).

I like the second arc more, its actually more believable than the first one, where Keichi start to panic too fast, and its just..unnatural to me...(if I were him, I would say to rena: whats up with you? freaking out only because I lied?)

And what are you all making this story so complicated? The story should be so that it was the demon that killed keichi and shion. See, it Was Mion who was possessed by the demon and tried to kill keichi in the cellar down there and Shion Was captured there. Then, you remember what Mion said to keichi: "the next time you see me would be the demon controlling my corpse" ..and she meant it so. In the cellar, Mion killed herself because she loved keichi and couldn't kill him, then the police found her corpse. She was dead by that time but the demon controlled her corpse as it want to (must) kill both keichi and shion. So keichi and shion saw the demon that only returned to kill them. Shion probably saw the dead Mion or rather the demon itself and killed herself before the demon could torture her...

and thats the story...

and why linking to the previous story? In my view, the previous as well as other "arcs" don't relate to each other a bit. They are just alternative stories.

Also, you might want to note her sudden clothes change during between the time KL was stabbed and then when she was in the hospital in her robe. Now.....really are you telling me that she bloodied her face and went back to the shrine just to get her robe and the nails then come to KL? And if she did why the hell is her head bloody? When it wasn't when he got stabbed, did she trip down the stairs of the cave while trying to get her stuff?

Now their is a possibility that the one he saw at night was a delusion and the one in the hospital was a freshly risen corpse from the well come to kill him........but again......if that was the case why would they find Mions body at all? Was the demon laying low or something? And I doubt they would leave her in that well after finding her or leave her in her shrine clothes like that with a bloody face. ("Oh what the hell she kinda looks cute like that" ).....I believe that image was manifested when he was told about her death down the well.....so of course he would imagine her like that. Right? I doubt if the demon was as they say he would wait till the cop TOLD KL about the corpse rather then finishing the job without KL knowing the circumstances.

Each time she appeared to him he was thinking:

1. That she had gotten away when the police said they couldn't find her body. (Note she appeared in her normal clothing, he thinking she had time to change after she "Got away")

2. She was dead in the well after he was knocked out. (Note: that now she's in her shrine/killing robes as she would be after crawling out of the well as a "Demon"...hmmmm)

The biggest question I have is:

Just how dumb IS Ooishi? It's not just assuming that the dead twin is the killer instead of the live one, when it makes infinitely more sense the other way around. But, given that he has a burned corpse that was dead 24 hours before Takano was seen alive...why on earth would he still think that corpse was Takano? The most obvious reason to burn a corpse is to conceal identity.

Also I note that once again Ooishi sets up Keiichi to be murdered. What does he have against that kid?

As for the cheesy shocker ending, I assume the girl under the bed isn't real because both green-haired girls are already dead. Maybe the story just wasn't complete without one stress-induced Keiichi hallucination.

As I stated in my comment on the previous episode I believe by this point Shion has switched with Mion and captured her, posing as Mion in front of everyone else.

From this point it seems a lot of people are forgetting that Keiichi is knocked out twice during his time in the hideout after he sees the girl inside the prison (who is most likely Mion). Well if that really is Shion who has been posing as Mion, and Mion who is the 'Shion Sonozaki who has gone missing' according to Oishi, then who is to say Shion didn't kill the imprisoned Mion after she hits Keiichi with the rock (before he's strapped up), or after he's tazered? They found her body in the well with the other girls' and since they were all killed supposedly in this dungeon area the well must be close, and it's not impossible to think Mion's dead body could have been dumped by Shion during one of those times before Keiichi came to...probably after he's hit with the rock because there is more time here (after he's tazered Oishi and Rena are just outside).

Then since the bodies are not found by the time Oishi rescues Keiichi and 'Shion', if the imprisoned Mion really was killed after Keiichi was knocked out and they didn't find the bodies yet then it could easily be that the Shion Oishi rescued with Keiichi is the real Shion who just did the killings. She posed as the imperiled Shion who Keichi thought was imprisoned in that cell and it looked like 'Mion' had escaped - when in reality 'Mion' (really Shion) didn't escape, instead posing as the victim who was safely escorted out with Oishi and Rena.

The real Mion is of course long dead by this point when Keichi's family is going to move away. So the 'Mion' he sees outside his house is the same 'Mion' who tortured him alright, but that 'Mion' has been Shion all along. She stabs Keiichi now, having intentionally waited to kill him (because Oishi was outside and escaping as the victimized Shion along with Keiichi was the perfect getaway plan at the time) until they were here alone, after which she fled.

Then she promptly 'kills herself' by jumping.

The Shion they find 'dead' is indeed the real Shion, then, after the deed of killing Mion has already taken place at least a day earlier and her body dumped in the well.

And finally, if Shion really was posessed by a demon of some sort, that is why the Shion who attacks Keiichi at the end is covered in blood - she's a corpse who just got splattered into the pavement. That corpse of Shion is somehow reanimated by the demon and comes to exact the torture on Keiichi once and for all.

It's all conjecture but I think it makes the most sense out of anything else relying solely on the information put forth to this point in the Anime (meaning without the outside sources like the info found in the answer arcs).
