Aww, it finally ends. I don't know what I really feel about this. I wasn't impressed with the slow, boring parts of the show around Tatarigoroshi but seeing the ending kind of rectified it a little bit. I think the unfortunate part about the story is that it ends just as the story starts to unravel. There is little to no explanation to the mystery around Rika and the murder mystery. I think the anime would have benefitted from longer episode counts, more inclusion of the game storyline and better character design/animation. I also think that some of the lines are a bit cheesy and could have been written better. This is the second game to anime adaptation from DEEN that I've watched and both have been rather disappointing in their own way. Oh well, I think I'm just going to read the manga to fill in the blank now.
The episode begins with the school teacher, Chie, getting a phone call from Rena who wants to meet the teacher at an undisclosed location. However, once the teacher left the school, Rena comes in to the school carrying the cleaver and starts taking one of the loli hostage. She then uses said loli to ask everyone to gather at the center of the classroom or the loli gets it. And with that, Rena becomes a village-class terrorist. A few hours later, the police come, presumably after Chie-sensei informs them about it. The teacher herself is now crying in distress maybe because she realises that she's been deceived by a young girl or probably because the person who tries to comfort her looks scarier than Rena. Rena then calls Ooishi, calling him her 'ally' while inside the classroom, the students are now seen tied up with those jumping ropes. Rena informs Ooishi that Keiichi has also become her ally now so Ooishi asks Rena if he can talk to Keiichi.

Once he gets the opportunity to talk to Keiichi, Ooishi asks Keiichi to tell him using 'Yes' or 'No' if Rena is holding everyone hostage and if Keiichi is just playing along to gain her trust. Keiichi confirms 'Yes' on both account. Rena then snatches the phone back from Keiichi and asks Ooishi if he has investigated the Sonozaki family to see if there is a laboratory researching the parasite. When Ooishi tells her that the police is handling it, Rena snaps and tells Ooishi that they are too slow. Ooishi assures Rena that he really is her ally but without evidence, it's hard to do further investigation. Because of this, Rena agrees to hand in Takano's scrapbook to the police. While she says this, Rena scratches her neck and a few more maggots fall into the floor. That is why you should not scratch your rotten neck. Anyway, Rena decides to send Keiichi out to deliver the note and this gives Ooishi the chance to give Keiichi a letter, an earphone, and a spray.
Ooishi basically wants Keiichi to use the earphone so he can hear the police and vice versa. The spray is for self defence, assuming Rena's cleaver doesn't get into Keiichi's face first and foremost. Keiichi then returns to the class finding Rena spreading gasoline all around. The police hears this and starts to panic. Ooishi's second hand man tells him that they find a note inside the notebook that Rena gave them. Inside the letter, Rena tells Ooishi that tonight she'll probably claws herself to death. This is why she set 7PM as a time for her negotiation. If negotiation doesn't happen by 7, she'll set the whole school on fire. It appears that Rena has learn how to make simple and effective time bomb using the gasoline and kitchen timer. Inside the class, Rena starts beating Mion's head senseless using the dull part of the cleaver. Keiichi tries to stop her but Rena refuses to listen, claiming that Mion betrayed her by moving the corpse elsewhere.

Ooishi who hears the entire conversation decides to give Rena a phone call to distract her while his second in command instruct Keiichi to find the timer that Rena has set inside the school. Satoko tells him that if he can find a cord somewhere then that cord probably leads him to the timer. Keiichi then pretends that he heard something outside the class and asks Rena if he can investigate the noise. Much to his relief, Rena allows him to get out of the class so he starts looking for the timer. Unfortunately, when he finds the timer, he realises that it's just a decoy placed by Rena. To top it off, Rena suddenly appears behind him asking him why he has that clock on his hand. Busted. Before Rena can slash Keiichi with her cleaver, however, Rika appears and headbutts Rena into the floor. This allows Keiichi to grab Rena's lighter while Rika uses the opportunity to ask Keiichi to find Satoko who probably already finds out the location of the bomb.
Keiichi hesitates to leave Rika with Rena but Rika tells him that this is not the first time. She believes that if back then she had tried harder...this is why she wants to do better this time around. After Keiichi left, Rena laughs and tells Rika that she'll certainly die at her hand but Rika switches into her Oyashiro-sama mode and tells 'Cleaver girl' that he'll play with her. This unsettles Rena a little bit. Meanwhile, Keiichi finds out from Satoko that she remembers how during morning, she smelled gasoline and a boy asked her if she took his soccer ball. Satoko suspects that Rena has used the ball to clog the rain gutter and filled the gutter with gasoline. She also suspect that the bomb is located in the rooftop. Keiichi praises Satoko, patting her on the head and asking her to take care of everyone else. Satoko then gives Keiichi the metal bat belonging to Satoshi to protect himself. After Keiichi left, Satoko can't help herself from calling Keiichi 'Nii-Nii'.

Keiichi then breaks the window of the school in order to get into the rooftop. Ooishi reminds him there are only 2 more minutes, err, make that 1 minute, make that 20 seconds, score! Keiichi manages to turn off the timer. Keiichi screams that he did it so Ooishi asks his men to retrive the other children from the class. The children, including Satoko and Mion, suddenly manage to untie themselves and get out of the room through the window. Unfortunately, it seems the place is still dangerous even without the detonator so the fire department asks Ooishi to evacuate all of his men immediately. The only problem is that Keiichi is still on the rooftop and Rena now manages to get there as well. Rena tells Keiichi that she never expected Keiichi to find the timer up here. She wonders if everything ends in failure and blames Keiichi if the aliens causes humanity to perish. Keiichi laughs at Rena, telling her no one in their right mind will believe in alien.
Keiichi then calls Rena 'Baka' and tells her that if she wants him to believe it, there is a simple way for club members like themselves to settle this. Rena charges at Keiichi but Keiichi manages to block her with his bat, saying that if she lost, she will become his personal maid from morning to night. Rena laughs upon hearing this, claiming that sounds just like Keiichi. Down in the ground, Ooishi is mesmerised by the battle and so are Keiichi's classmates, who start to cheer for him. At this point, Rika comes out of the school looking slightly injured from her fight with Rena. Up on the rooftop, Keiichi reminds Rena how they once fought like this with water gun. He starts telling her that he can't get enough of this tension and it'll be killjoy to end it now. On the ground, Rika puts all her hopes on Keiichi, hoping he will be able to find an exit out of this labyrinth of tragedy.

Up on the rooftop, Keiichi asks Rena to confirm that she'll become his maid if he wins. Rena tells him that she refuses unless she gets to wear cute outfit. Keiichi assures him that under the supervision of Irie, he'll ensure that Rena gets cute outfit. Rena claims that she has no intention of losing but that sounds fun. In exchange, Keiichi tells Rena that if she wins, he promises to believe in her story, even if she claws out her throat and die, he promises to see it through the end. Upon hearing this Rena tells Keiichi that even if she wins that sounds boring to her. She wants Keiichi to give her the same present, shocking Keiichi in the process. He wonders if she wants him to become a maid. Rena tells him that she just wants Keiichi to greet her 'Good Morning' in the morning and 'Good Night' in the evening. She wants him to fill her with a lot of kindness and happiness. This way regardless who wins, they'll always be together.
Keiich promises this and then raises his weapon, telling Rena that it's been fun. The two then charge towards each other and this time around, Rena manages to knock Keiichi's bat out of his hand. In the aftermath, Rena asks Keiichi if everything is over but Keiichi tells her that it's not over until she swings that cleaver on him. Rena suddenly cries and tells Keiichi that she doesn't want to. She wonders how things ended up like this and where did things go wrong. Rena wonders when did she stop believing in her friends. Keiichi praises Rena for realising her own mistake. Rena tells Keiichi that she hurts Mion but Keiichi advises her that she can just apologises to Mion later. He thinks it's a good start to just be able to tell the difference between the two twin sisters. Keiichi then moves forward to give Rena a hug, telling her it was a simple thing all along. If they start to doubt something or have problems, they should talk to their friends.

Rena agrees with this and proceeds to cry on Keiichi's shoulder. Upon seeing this, Rika cries herself. In the epilogue, Rika tells herself that the solution was a simple one: to forgive each other and trust each other. She believes this was the key to defeat the demon of suspicion that lurks within each one of them. However, even with that knowledge, there are mysteries in Hinamizawa that remain unlocked. The episode then ends with the group playing card again with Satoko getting a lead over everyone. The game, however, is interrupted when the teacher informs them that someone wants to talk to Rika. That someone is Ooishi and as usual, he takes her into his car and informs her about the fact that Tomitake and Takano has died. Upon hearing this, Rika thinks to herself that this is fine with her. She'll continue to play this unending game in June as much as it pleases the person who wants to play this with her. Cut to a shot of the title card.

Impression:
This episode was actually rather tense but the actual Heaven and Hell fight scene that everyone hyped about wasn't that exciting. I blame this on DEEN who couldn't cough up a decent budget for the fight. Speaking of Keiichi, he was actually kind of cool in this episode. In fact, he's been quite cool throughout this arc with the exception when he has to deliver those cheese-tastic lines. But I doubt other character can deliver that sort of lines without sounding corny either. Anyway, it's interesting to see Rika trying her best to help Keiichi as well. It appears that this is not the first time this kind of scenario happened and Rika simply try to do her best this time around. Rena was also cool throughout this arc. She actually scared me a little bit when she appeared behind Keiichi in this episode. The maggots that fell off from her neck was gross but helps in making the episode even more unsettling than it already was in the first place.
In the end, however, we are nowhere close to figure out what actually caused Rena's insanity. Was it something psychological (her mind snaps) or biological (disease or virus) or something supernatural (she was possessed by demon)? I am inclined to think it's something biological and this is why Rika carried that syringe with her back in Meakashi-hen. The trigger for this seems to be distrust and this is why Keiichi decided to let Rena win so that he can regain her trust again. I also think that although Takano's scrapbooks contain many lies, it also contains some truth in it. I think I wasn't too far off in my suspicion of Takano but I am not sure about her motivation. It's unfortunate that this episode did not mention that everyone in the village die a few days later. Basically the story ends just like in Tatarigoroshi, where Rika is found Watanagashied in front of the temple and the entire village dies from gas poisoning.

It seems there is a direct link between Rika being dead from being Watanagashied and the gas leak. I think if Oyashiro-sama does exists, then he/she is embodied within Rika. Unlike what everyone suggests, however, Oyashiro-sama is actually a benevolent God who does not easily curse anyone for entering a warehouse. However, I do think that the God has a limit when it comes to patience. I think when his avatar, which is Rika, is killed and Watanagashied, the God unleashes the gas poisoning to kill everyone in Hinamizawa. This is probably in the hope that her killer will get killed as well in the process. This is why I'm disappointed that the series does not solve the majority of the mysteries at the end of the day. There are still unanswered questions about Watanagashi, the Sonozaki family, and Takano. For example, who committed the dam murder and who was the person who managed to escape the murder?
How about those men in grey uniform? Who actually employ them? My inclination is to think that the men in grey are employed by the Sonozaki family. They showed up when Keiichi went crazy in Onikakushi-hen and not long after that, Keiichi was seen back with Mion and Rena. That suggests Mion probably asked her family to look for Keiichi back then. Of course, all of these are just wild speculation and unfortunately, these are the only thing that I can come up with at the moment. The last piece of the puzzle that has not been answered is Satoshi's whereabouts. Did he just run away to another city or did the Sonozaki family killed him? Is he still alive? I'd like to know what others think about this. Feel free to unleash all of the known spoiler now that the series has ended. Just give a proper warning in advance so those who wants to avoid it can choose to do so. Overall, this was a tense series that was executed badly.
Garten, I'll give you a hint on what happens with Rika around Hinamizawa:

Thx Guido. Those spoilers are interesting but also reveals that it's impossible to understand the series based on the anime itself. I've posted the question on that animesuki thread but I leave it here as well in case someone else can answer it:
*Spoiler starts*
1. That revelation about Oyashiro-sama was surprising. But if that is true then who is Frederica Bernkastel? I always thought that she's Oyashiro-sama due to her deep, mature voice.
2. If Rika is not Oyashiro-sama herself, then what is the point of killing her?
3. If Rika can't remember who killed her in other arcs apart Watanagashi/Meakashi, then how did she remember that Shion (will) torture her in Watanagashi and Meakashi? Is it because she was Watanagashied that she can't recalled her murderer in the other scenarios?
4. What happened to Satoshi?
5. The circumstances behind Tomitake's, Irie's, Ooishi's death in some arcs.
6. The identity of other murderer apart from Satoshi/Keiichi/Rena/Shion (ie. the dam murderer who escaped).
7. Is there a disease in Hinamizawa and how does this come into existence in the first place?
8. How widespread is the knowledge about the disease that affects Hinamizawa resident? Assuming such disease exists, wouldn't it make sense to inform the resident about this so they can prevent further tragedy? If this knowledge is suppressed, what is the reason for it? To prevent mass hysteria?
9. Who is Takano and what is her real motive?
10. Who are the men in green/grey uniform? Are they related to the Sonozaki family?
*Spoiler ends*
The TIP i found the most interesting was the one of Tsumihoroboshi that wasn't a TIP originally where Rika approches Rena with a syringe but talks with her instead of trying to force it on her.
Frederica is
*spoiler starts*
A version of Rika that exists between the worlds and is aware of pretty much everything i think, she may or may not narrate between some scenes in the final 2 arcs.
*spoiler ends.
Damn it's over, such a good series too...
Chirium: to be more exact, it's everyone of the previous Rika's who died. Since they're dead, they're not actually part of the story, but they do provide good hints before minagoroshi and matsuriyabashi (spelling? XD). Though, the TIP you're talking about is actually part of the novel that DEEN skipped in the anime, it was before Heaven or Hell, I don't remember exactly, but Rika offered to help her with "medicine that will make her feel better". Rena was paranoid and thought it was the drug that killed Tomitake.
It's certain that the "gas leak" is definitely happening, there's just a factor as to who and what started it.
Since Chirium answer 1.
2. Oyashiro-sama is a kind~ kind~ God~ :P (Rika knows oyashiro, let's leave it at that), and no, Oyashiro-sama doesn't have any ~wraith~ ! Too cry-baby for that :P
10. No
The rest are pretty spoilerish :o and I'm not qualified to explain them anyhow.
I'm glad that it ended happily but still leaves some suspence. Since Rika agreed to play, does that mean she'll go berserk next and kill everyone or play along far enough to end the cycle once and for all? Eh, who can say? What does it matter? They'll never show how that arc plays out will they?
I was just cracking up during Rena vs. Keichi. Not just because of Keichi's prize being Rena the maid, but that their fight was generating sparks OVER A SCHOOL FILLED WITH GASOLINE FUMES! Well, actually, i was watching, feeling very nervous, wondering if the school will blow, until Rena snapped back to normal. After that, I was expecting the school to comedically explode as they sat on the roof, hugging each other.
Garten, I can try to answer to the best of my ability, although any answers you get from that thread will likely be better than mine.
*Spoiler starts*
1. Frederica is the collected consciousness of all the dead Rika's.
2. Rika is killed as the final nail in the coffin for justifying the extermination of the town.
3. Rika can't remember the last 10 min of her life, and since Shion took her dear sweet time torturing her to death in Wataganashi, Meakashi Rika could remember it.
4. He was assaulted on his way out of town and ended up in a coma as a John Doe in another town's hospital.
5. Tomitake disagrees with Takano's plans, so she has him killed. Irie, when he dies, is on the verge of exposing what is going to happen, so he is killed. Ooishi, on the rare occasions when he is killed is on the track to the truth, so he is taken care of.
6. Dam worker killed the dam director. Either Satoko's father fell off the cliff while fighting with his wife who was trying to kill them, or Satoko ended up pushing both off during the fight, not sure. Rika's mother killed her father, iirc.
7. Yes, bioweapon research during the war, iirc.
8. Virtually unknown. It's obviously a large goverment secret. The Japanese government certainly doesn't want any history of bioweapon research leaked, and ultimately they're willing to erase Hinamizawa to keep the secret, so no, they aren't going to tell the townspeople.
9. Takano is part of an ultra-nationalistic organization with deep ties with the Japanese government and military. She belongs to a faction in the organization that believes it is a waste of time and resources to try to cure Hinamizawa syndrome, so she manipulates events to justify the extermination of the town. In part, she gets a rush from having so much control over the lives of so many people. There are apparently deeper parts to her motivation only revealed in Matsuribayashi (final arc) but I don't know them. Somehow, her grandfather seems to be part of it.
10. They work for the same organization. Irie believes they follow his orders, but they are actually part of Takano's faction. As you might guess, they were the ones ultimately responsible for the cancellation of the dam project. They also make the killers "disappear".
*Spoiler ends*
Woot! That's the best and tastiest spoiler I've ever had. Thank you for that choles. For everyone else though, be careful of the above spoilers if you still want to play the game. I personally am grateful for being spoiled but for those who want to remain unspoiled, then don't read the comment above or below this sentence.
Now, for more spoiler. I'm going to try to make a generalisation of the plot. Please let me know if I'm wrong or not:
Spoiler starts
1. There was a bioweapon research occured in Hinamizawa. The government wants to keep it a secret from the public.
2. When the dam project started, the very existence of the project threatens to expose this bioweapon existence.
3. During the dam project, people started to contract the disease and starts killing each other.
4. Takano and her men were sent to dispose the murderer in order to cover up the existence of the disease in the first place. They then kidnap the grandson of the minister to ensure that the project is canned.
5. It appears that the Sonozaki family is aware of the existence of Takano and her men but they are not really aware of her true intention.
6. When people in the village start to contract the disease and kill their immediate family members, the scapegoat for these murders end up being 'the curse of Oyashiro-sama'. It's the perfect cover story since the actual killer will be disposed of, leaving the situation looking like it has some supernatural causes behind it.
7. When Satoshi killed his aunt, he's suspected of contracting the disease as well so he's disposed of on his way to another city. But from the sound of the spoiler, he actually survived.
8. Ryuugu Reina was a girl who was taken into Ibaraki by her parents. The divorce of her parents, however, caused mental imbalance on her parts and the disease starts to affect her mind. It was during this time that she saw Hanyuu (the real Oyashiro-sama) who told her that in order to survive, she must returns to Hinamizawa.
9. Maebara Keiichi is a juvenile back in the city. When his father found out about this, he made the decision to move his family to the small town of Hinamizawa. During his research of the town, he saw the visage of two girls. One of the girls is Rika. The other is Hanyuu.
10. Sonozaki Shion is actually Sonozaki Mion whose true identity was swapped during childhood. However, ever since then she has no choice but to assume the name Sonozaki Shion. Shion eventually returns to Okinomiya city when she got bored of her dorm life.
11. The event of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni starts. Tomitake gets killed by Takano for disagreeing with her plan.
12. Keiichi contracted the disease in Onikakushi-hen. Takano's men fetch him and take him back home. Before Irie can give him the injection, however, Keiichi already killed Rena and Mion. When Keiichi claims that he saw Oyashiro-sama, he probably meant that he saw Hanyuu. Hanyuu is apparently the one who said "Gomennasai" after he slams the door on Rena. Keiichi dies by scratching his own throat.
13. In Watanagashi-hen, Keiichi doesn't give the doll to Mion, triggering the 'demon' (read: psychosis) inside Shion (because Mion's happiness reminds her of Satoshi). Shion goes nuts and kills everyone whom she believes was involved in Satoshi's disappearance. She captures Rika and Satoko, torturing the two of them before killing them. Shion then tries to kill Keiichi but for some reason manages to stop herself until that night when Keiichi brings out the doll (thinking that Shion is Mion). Shion dies when she tries to climb into her own apartment.
14. In Tatarigoroshi-hen, Irie and Ooishi get too close to the truth and are terminated by Takano's men. Rika ends up being killed by Takano inside her own house and her corpse is found by Keiichi. Satoko thinks that Keiichi kills her friend and pushes Keiichi off the bridge. Satoko herself gets killed by unknown assailant later on. The media claims that the gas disaster happened not long after this.
15. In Himatsubushi-hen, a cop (thx for the correction choles!) called Akasaka gets too close to the truth. He gets to meet Frederica Bernkestel, who is basically the collective consciousness of all the dead Rika.
16. In Meakashi-hen, Rika knows that she's heading towards the same path that she experienced in Watanagashi. Instead of letting Shion torture herself all over again, she decides to end her own life instead.
17. In Tsumihoroboshi-hen a chance probability occurs: Keiichi remembers the event that transpired in Onikakushi-hen. This motivates him to save Rena and avert the disaster. Rika is moved by his resolve and agrees to help him from here on forward. They all fail once again because Rika got killed by Takano a few days after Keiichi saves Rena.
There are a few things that I'm still not sure though:
1. Am I right to assume that Rika is aware of the existence of Takano and her men? I even assume that she trusts some of these men.
2. The Sonozaki family does not know that Takano and her men want to exterminate the village once and for all. Is this correct?
3. How did Rika gains the ability to re-live her life all over again? Is there a limit to this?
4. Is Takano aware of Rika's ability to re-live her life all over again?
*Spoiler ends*
Dang, my horrible internet prevented me from imputting answers; ahh, well, I suppose all I have is to season choles's post a bit; Takano's grandfather was one of the leading scientists who developed the bioweapon, but he isn't given much credit. She would love nothing more than her grandfather becoming famous for the disease's invention, provided she can exterminate Hinamizawa and remove any connection it has with the project.
Regarding the disease itself, all the superstitious talk is all false, meant to divert attention from the real cause of the problem. The symptoms are everything we've seen when people go crazy; suspicion, paranoia, power hallucinations; it's like schizophrenia. It's also an air-borne virus, so everyone who ever enters Hinamizawa gets infected; there are five levels describing psychosis, with L1 being a normal but infected person and L5 a person on a killing spree; Keiichi and Shion reached the L5 plateau in Onikakushi and Meakashi (respectively); Satoko has reached it in the past but has fallen back to L3 with help from Irie, who gives her daily treatments, and Rena was about L4 in Tsumihoroboshi-hen. The treatments given by Irie are the mysterious syringes (not the one Keiichi saw) that Rika has; they're meant to help those with the affliction, not harm them.
Finally, the "gas disaster" is a coverup in every arc; when Takano realizes that killing Rika won't kill everyone in the town, she executes the entire population by gassing or gunning them down.
For Garten's questions,
1. Rika knows about the shady figures in town but assumes Takano to be dead until Minagoroshi.
2. The Sonozakis know about a "special group" in town but not the motive, so yes.
3. Hanyuu, a very nice "ghost" who is actally Oyashiro-sama, revives Rika so she can "restart" her life in the summer of 1983.
4. No.
...
Pretty good episode, if only my virtue of the dialogue (which was cropped); the animation was terrible. I think Studio Deen established itself as one of the worst animation studios still in business, right up there with Xebec and the people who did Gun Musashi.

SPOILERS END
That's mean! Rika's my favorite character and she did nothing to deserve getting killed! And it doesn't matter anyway considering how Takano is oblivious to the reset. As long as Takano doesn't know, she can't possibly feel the frustration.
So how does this all end? What happens in the last arc?
Just a few things.
Malintex_Terek, correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that given the events of himatsubushi which take place over 5 years before June of 1983, as well as the TIPS involving Rika's mother, that Rika goes through her whole life, not just the summer of '83.
Garten, Akasaka is actually a cop. He was pretending to be a reporter as his cover. Also, another note, Irie is already aware of the circumstances. He is a researcher who works for the opposing faction that is serious about finding a cure for the disease, and he's been treating Satoko for years now to help her.
deadpill and Android 21 3/7, you have to remember that it's not really a reset. When the kids or the village dies, the world doesn't end, and in a number of the TIPS we see things that happen years if not decades after some of the arcs. In other words, don't feel bad for Takano, because in most of the worlds, she won, and nothing is going to change that.
hmmm seems you feel a little passionate about it. ^^ but I'm glad to see that MOST of my thoughts on what was going on was correct I owe that mostly to my dealings with SH x.x so I tend to look at everything with a third eye now lol. Damn and I threw away that part about the experement way too soon x.x .....the bio weapon part totally threw me and what O-sama looked like.......I couldn't have dreamed that I almost face fauled lol. Anyways thanks for the spoilers.........and it would be awesome if they decided to animate all this in a second season......I would like to see Hanyuu and her cute au au au bit XD
Ah, someone corrected me, so I'll write it here. The amount of time Rika relives is apparently dependent on Hanyuu. It can be years, or it can be months or even just weeks.
I have come up with another wild theory.
In the arc where Rika gets Wataganshi -ed, meaning the arcs that she gets killed by the unknown murderer, what if she in fact has or houses the parasite within her body?
It will does reveal a clear picture on why Rika gets Wataganashi -ed on the rest of the arcs, if she's not killed by Shion or commits suicide in the other arcs.
During the conversation that Oishi sustained with Akasaka during 1985 in Himatsubushi-hen, Oishii learned that the day Rika's body she was Wataganashi -ed, however, someone used a drug on her before proceeding to disembowel her.
What if the murderer wants to secure a sample of the parasite from someone?
Someone vulnerable...
Heh heh. You've been very hard at work, Garten, going into Higurashi like this. Heh heh.
How about a break and a treat, eh? You deserve it.
This is the final battle scene in Tsumihoroboshi-hen between Keichi and Rena (Yes, I know you've seen it many times... I apologize if it's starting to get repetitive...). The exception is that it uses music from the original game (although not the exact music of the scene). Enjoy it for all your hard work (disregard this if you've already seen this though...).
http://youtube.com/watch?v=Abqj3W44Ikw
Anon: That YouTube video has the incorrect background music--according to one animesuki post anyway. The uploader of that video allegedly also posted a corrected video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jm9NSTSH1L). I can't read the japanese comments of the uploader to confirm this, but I prefer the music timing in the 'corrected' video anyway. :)
Ah, and Choles! Thank you very much for the spoiler info.
Yep. That's correct, which is why I added that it wasn't from the exact scene. Heh heh. Ah. I like both versions pretty well. Heh heh.
Am i correct that:
1.)in the end of tsumihoroboshi, that when ooshi showed the picture to rika means that after a few days the premonition of rika that she will die and the whole town will die will still come true?
2.)if 1 is true, then an episode showing keichi survive from the mass town killing will also come true?
3.)Does every arc shows another dimension of their world, since before the last episode, keichi remembered killing mion and rena in another dimension.
4.) did the manga ended same with the anime?
thanks for the people who will clear out and correct me for my questions. thank you very much :)
More or less. There are 2 missing chapters; the next one, which reveal all the clues and what happen, and then finally, the last chapter, which is how to solve all the problems and move forward beyond 1983.
>... loli hostage. She then uses said loli to ask everyone to gather at the center of the classroom or the loli gets it.
Very well said ヾ(〃^∇^)ノわぁい♪ loliって
In the end, I'd say that I'm quite satisfied with this anime, though somehow the final fight wasn't that great. It should have looked more dramatic though, given that the murder scenes in this anime are really 'great' and 'wonderful'.
" It appears that this is not the first time this kind of scenario happened and Rika simply try to do her best this time around"
when rika said she failed last time i think she was refearing to when she tryed to stop Shion
So, are the last 2 arcs available to download somewhere? I like the spoilers and all (and it actually eased my aching head after trying to figure this all out), but I still want to know what happens in the next 2 arcs.
Also, there was mention a while back about this game being adapted for the Playstation 2. Anybody else hear this?
By the way... second season is on the way... I guess that doesn't matter because of all the spoilers already here, but... Just so you know. :3
I think someone manufactured the contents of the syringe which will animate the dead. (no pun intended) Some have been reanimated so much that eventually rot from the inside out. Those chosen by what ever force is chosing, decides who dies in any circumstance as all events are interwoven in real time but spread throught the anime.
=)
Apparently, in the Yoigoishi-hen arch thats in the manga, there is a character named Akira Otobe. He is a man with amnesia who appears wandering around in the forest of abandoned Hinamizawa. And he looks similar to Satoshi.
I loved this anime, and personally I think the reason all the answers were not given, was to let the viewers think and speculate what could have happened. But I may as well throw out what I think XP
I don't see these as spoilers, I'm just answering the questions how I feel they are answered, but in case anyone will flip out I'll mark it as a spoiler:
1. Who committed the dam murder?
Takano... maybe we are not suppose to know though
2. Who is the dam murderer that never got caught?
Maybe s/he died because they were infested with the parasites when they left the village.. or it was Takano
3. What happened to Satoshi?
Well he was born there, so he contains the virus. So if he left he may have died then
4. What is the nature of the disease? Is it psychological, biological, or supernatural?
I think its all three, psychological by just snapping like all three did. Biological by the virus(which helped the psychological way), and supernatural not that I'm saying Oyshiro did it, I'm saying that the psychological -ness of a person could drive them to think he's there.
5. Who is Takano and what is her intention?
I think Takano is leader of the gray people, and I think she was the one who wants to use this virus. Also I think she started the cult thing to get followers to keep the curse alive.
6. Who was responsible for the murders that weren't caused by either Satoshi/Keiichi/Rena/Shion?
I don't know..
7. Does Oyashiro-sama exist?
Yes and No, I believe he was alive at one point, if not a god but as someone else who maybe found the cure. And No, I don't think he was a god or existed, it was something the cult made up to keep the ways forever.
8. What caused the gas leak?
Haha thats why we wait for the 2nd season. But I think.. it was the men in gray, but who knows.
9. Why can Keiichi remembers the events from other arcs while others can't do the same?
Ahaha, This is my favorite question yet! I think Keiichi remembers because he has atoned for his sins and sees how he was wrong, I also believe that Rika is a kinda seer and acts as the true Oyshiro puppet(in lamest terms). The others can't because they never committed a sin, or something that made them bad. If people think they have, then it means they haven't forgiven them selfs for it or atoned for it. This sounds very religious, but makes sense. (And the fact that Oyshiro is a 'god')
10. Would you take a holiday in Hinamizawa
Maybe... XP
So thats how I think, Oh Yes I remember!
When Rika was protecting Keiichi, and saying "I failed last time" I think she was talking about how she failed in saving Shion. Possibly while they were fighting Rika injected Rena with the antidote.
About the end, I feel that this will happen over and over until the perfect place is made, or at least a place where the five-some can live normal. I also think Rika is the key and even she can't figure out the village's secrets.
Also she says "This Endless June game"
It like she's hitting the reset button until things come out right.
But this is just what I think ^-^ love this anime it makes you think a lot.
SPOILERs~
Ahhhh how I adore Miyo's evil plots for the rank of a "god"
Yep Takano-san is the one who murdered the dam-worker. Thats what basically started the entire string of events to occur. She is also the one who killed Satoshi to encourage the corrupted Shion to kill everyone dear to her. [I'm not sure about that one...for some reason] Oh the gas leak was also caused by her when she raids Hinamizawa after she kills Rika~!
..or if someone else does the job for her...
-coughcoughshioncough-
Though I got a feeling she is either not or aware of the constant cycle of time-looping after Rika dies.
Well all I know so far is that Takano-san wants to be a god just like good ol grandpa wanted to be. Or basically carry out his last wish after he died. Which she twisted up for due to horrific drauma she went through as a child.
also I would like to point out that the men that own the white van are part of the same group as Takano and her many allies...god it was so simple :P
What confuses me is that mr doc wanted to cure Keii-chan in the first arc towards the end.
Though the men with the van were with him as well. I thought he was with Takano-san unless there was some internal debates inside the group. Hmmm TAKA VRS DOC
also anyone notice that by each arc most problems that appear seem to be gone?
Satako seems to live with Rika or uncle ?_?...BAD
LOOP
Satako lives with Shion...GOOD
Shion is shunned and bitter towards her family plus satoshi goes missing...BAD
LOOP
Shion realizes that in Satoshis place she must protect Satako...GOOD.
renas parents get a divorse sparking stress and saddness into her...BAD
Rena gets invected...WORSE
Rena gets brain raped by Takano-san...HELL
Rena realizes that she hurt her friends and forgot why she did all these things...
rika dies...LOOP
then the webbing starts to connect things together.
by each loop more things are healed inside the group of freinds. Or the virus is thinning down due to certain actions being gone. Though Satako being as emo as she is just cant find happiness...ARGH!!
1. Who committed the dam murder?
*shrugs*
2. Who is the dam murderer that never got caught?
*shrugs*
3. What happened to Satoshi?
4. What is the nature of the disease? Is it psychological, biological, or supernatural?
Either psychological or supernatural.
5. Who is Takano and what is her intention?
6. Who was responsible for the murders that weren't caused by either Satoshi/Keiichi/Rena/Shion?
7. Does Oyashiro-sama exist?
Yes.
8. What caused the gas leak?
9. Why can Keiichi remembers the events from other arcs while others can't do the same?
10. Would you take a holiday in Hinamizawa?
YES.
So it was all Takano's fault, and the summer of June 83 keeps repating? No wonder they can't remember anything! They have no memory recollection at because time repeats and...uh...The goverment is behind some of it, and Takano wants to cover it up so no one can find out!
