I find it amusing that lately I can skip a couple of chapter of Fruits Basket and still able follow it quite well. I supposed it's a bit worrying as well because it means the plot develops at a snail pace. Having said that, there are some chapters that are still worth taking a look at and this one is one of them. I just think that this chapter is quite unusual to the point that it must be seen to be believed. It's also quite hard to digest at first because the concept that is introduced here is quite new. Each character in this series has been assigned a particular role right from the start. As a result, it's always hard to accept the character in an entirely new role. This is especially true of Akito, who's been positioned as the main antagonist of the series ever since the beginning. The change in her character feels quite jarring here. It's hard to believe that this is the same character who has caused so much pain to others before.
Previously on Fruits Basket: Tohru fell from a cliff when the ground beneath her collapsed. Tohru is eventually saved and allowed to have visitors in the hospital room. This chapter begins with Yuki telling Hatsuharu that a little while ago, the only people who can visit Tohru was her relatives. However, since her examination ended today, from now on they can see her freely. Upon hearing this Haru realises why Momiji has been coming to the hospital ever since afternoon. Yuki belives Tohru will be worried that Momiji skips class to visit her but thinks that either way, she will soon get a lot of visitors. Well, everyone but Kyou that is because Hanajima and Alyssa are seen blocking his way as he's about to leave the school. When Kyou tells the two girls that he'd like to visit Tohru, they immediately make fun of him. Hanajima makes a sarcastic remark about how kind Kyou turns out to be. Alyssa adds that it seems they've been wrong and thinks that she may fall for Kyou.
Kyou realises that the two are being sarcastic with him so he tells them to just say whatever it is they want to say to him. Upon hearing this, Alyssa explodes and asks Kyou what makes him think that he can visit Tohru. She then asks Hanajima to hand her spears so presumably she can kill Kyou. Hanajima, however, deadpans and tells Alyssa that is not a good idea because she'll just leave physical evidence. LOL. After calming down a bit, Alyssa vents her frustration about how Kyou has made Tohru felt as if she's a used dustcloth. She's just relieved that the situation didn't escalate into something more serious. Kyou tells Alyssa that he understands what she means but Alyssa simply becomes angrier to hear this remark. She asks the boy if he did understand then why did Kyou told Tohru that she was disillusioned. Kyou is surprised to hear this because he didn't expect Alyssa or Hanajima to know about his conversation with Tohru. He immediately looks at Yuki, demanding some kind of explanation.
Proving once and for all that he truly is an evil incarnate, Yuki simply smirks and tells Kyou that maybe he was the one who blabbed it all to Tohru's friend after all. He then sarcastically says that he's sorry but he didn't expect that the two girls will incur such a wrath on Kyou. Haru knows that Yuki is being sarcastic and wonders if Yuki is really sorry after all. Alyssa then tells Kyou that she won't allow Kyou to visit Tohru. Hanajima, however, decides to ask Kyou if he does end up meeting with Tohru, what will he do? Hanajima thinks that if Kyou is just going to see her without any purpose, then simply apologising will just bother Tohru. After all, Tohru is not blaming Kyou. She wonders if Kyou really thinks that is the kind of thing that Tohru will want. If Kyou really feels bad about it, Hanajima believes that there are other things that he should be doing. Alyssa then cuts Hanajima's sentence, telling Kyou that he could compose his death poem, for instance.
Hanajima immediately forgets her point and giggles alongside Alyssa telling her that will be nice too. Despite this, Kyou takes the criticism quite well and tells the two that he knows he should pull himself together first. Alyssa, however, slaps him on the forehead and orders him to become a man already before leaving with Hanajima. Once mean girls leave the area, Haru asks Kyou why he's taking all of the blame for Tohru's accident. Kyou, however, tells Haru that it's okay because it didn't change the fact that he did something bad. He also admits that it makes it easy for him. Haru thinks that Kyou is stupid for thinking like that and Yuki quietly murmurs as he goes away that he already knew about this. Meanwhile inside a hospital park, Akito is seen sitting on her own looking restless. She is quickly startled when Momji asks her if she has come to visit on her own. He also wants to know if Akito is there for Kureno or Tohru. Momiji then tells Akito that what is important is that the two of them are safe.
Upon hearing this Akito remembers how when she first visited Kureno, the first thing that he said was if Akito is okay now. Akito suddenly tells Momiji that both Kureno and Tohru should have blame her. She thinks the two should be angry and sue her and wonders if it's not a foolishness to allow anyone to do whatever they want to you. She thinks that Kureno and Tohru will just become an easy target if they continue like this. They'll be like fools who can't be helped any longer. Upon hearing this, Momiji tells Akito then isn't lucky for her that both of them are 'foolish'? He thinks it's because of their 'foolishness' Akito is free from any wrongdoing. Because of this, he thinks Akito should be glad for being able to take advantage of two 'fools'. This is why he wonders why Akito is crying. Upon hearing this Akito wonders if Kureno will remain by her side if she simply just asks him to stay by her side. She thinks he probably will because Kureno is that type of a person.
Kureno is a sweet, kind, and gentle person who's smothered Akito with nothing but kindness. Despite this, Akito has done nothing but hurting him. She tells Momiji that she is angry to herself that the only thing that she can do is to say "Sorry" over and over again. Upon hearing this, Momiji tells Akito if that is the case then Akito better treasures him from now on. He also adds that even if his action may appear foolish to someone else, as long as Akito doesn't see him as foolish, then that means Akito appreciates him. That's all there is to it. Momiji then sits next to Akito and asks her if she wants to listen to The Foolish Traveler story. He thinks if Akito wants to hear it, then it means she'll want to see Tohru. Meanwhile inside Sohma's house, Shigure is surprised to know that Akito has gone to the hospital on her own. He thinks it's a progress. Hatori asks Shigure if something had happened between Akito and Tohru back then. Shigure believes that seems to be the case.
He remembers how Akito had told him that she saw a vision of Tohru sitting with her. Howeer, Tohru didn't sit far away from Akito and not above her. Instead, Tohru was nearby and sat next to Akito, acknowledging Akito's presence as an equal. Upon hearing this Hatori wonders if Shigure's plan has gone the way he wanted it. Shigure thinks that seems to be the case although in retrospect, he feels a little regret about it. Hatori wonders what Shigure means by 'a little' but Shigure assures him that he too has made some progress. Meanwhile, Akito is seen hesitatingly entering Tohru's room and remembering she saw in her vision. She becomes shy upon entering the room but Tohru does nothing but offer her injured arm to Akito. Akito starts to cry then smile a bit before approaching Tohru to offer her hand as well. The chapter then ends with a note that Akito, Shigure, and Kyou have made progress, little by little.
Impression:
I have to say that I am not too sure what to make of this new development. Seeing a regretful and kind Akito feels so jaring after all of these years. It feels as if this is some kind of an April's Fool joke that the author created to make fun of its readers. Except that it is not. And I do admit that after the initial surprise, it does feel emotionally satisfying. After all of these years, Tohru actually gains a friend out of an enemy. It makes me wonder where to go from here. If Akito is not the enemy any longer, where will the series head? Towards its conclusion is the obvious answer but how will it get there? I supposed there is still the unfinished 'non-conflict' with Kyou, who seems to be doing his best to evade his problem with Tohru. So it was a good thing that Alyssa and Hanajima were there to snap some sense into him. It's also kind of funny if it turns out that the last person who haven't visited Tohru is actually Kyou instead of Akito.
Kyou's main problem is that he is too keen to put all of the blame on himself even if the incident wasn't entirely his fault. The accident was simply a domino effect of Kyou upsetting Tohru, Akito being homicidal, and plain bad luck on Tohru's part when she stand on top of a shaky ground. Moving on to other characters, I still have no idea what Shigure's true plan is all about. But it seems part of it has been achieved. This is probably why he regret it a bit because it ends up injuring Tohru in the process. But in that case, it's not so much of a plan because Tohru's injury hardly involves him. Moreover, Shigure can't possibly predict what would occur between Akito and Tohru when the two had a conversation together back in chapter 121. Either way, it'll be interesting to watch how everything will unfold from now on. I still find it hard to reconcile the idea of Tohru and Akito as friends but I guess I have to start getting used to it.

I can't imagine what Akito is going through in this chapter. If i were in her position i would wonder how there could be people who can forgive so easily. I'm glad that Momiji was there to tell her the story about the traveler. It's such a sad story but Akito needed to hear that so he could understand Tohru and Kureno a little better. I just hope the other Sohma family members can understand that Akito is going through some changes and give her an opportunity to evolve. I also wonder if in later chapters the rest of the Sohma family will soon find out that she is really a woman. I hope that in the end Akito and Tohru become good friends and that Tohru is able to break the curse and prevent Kyo from being imprisoned. Maybe this is a long shot, but it would be wonderful if Tohru and Kyo could be part of the banquet. I'm so excited to find out what will come next! thank you for the scans and summary.

I imagine it was probably in Shigure's plan for Akito to hurt Tohru, so he's probably .. recalculating. Odd, odd fellow.
Even if Akito doesn't put Kyo in the cage, Kyo will [try to] put Kyo in the cage .. talk about self-flagellating.
In any case, I think we had to know from the start - and if not from the start, definitely when Kureno says that Akito is the one who is the most pathetic and hurt of all (and, well, female) - that Tohru's process of healing the Jyuuniishi had to go through Akito as well. I mean, we couldn't have Tohru take Akito down in a wrestling match, could we?
I just have to say thank you for the scans first of all and second... their beautiful! I don't know why maybe it's my lack of new Fruits Basket manga recently, but I enjoyed the art more than anything.
Oh, and it was distracting to read Alyssa instead of Arisa, but that's just the way you translate so it does not matter.
With the main antagonist gone, I'm hoping there's a plot twist. Hopefully one that exposes Shigure's true intentions.
It wouldn't surprise me if Shigure became the true antagonist in the following chapters. That's the only reason I can find for the jealousy, self-loathing, and secretiveness he has displayed so far.
My theory is that he wants Akito for himself only, and his plan was to separate her from the other Zodiacs to make her break down and fall in her arms. And that he doesn't care much about Tohru's feelings, or anyone else's for the same reasons. In that case, the recent plot developments wouldn't have pleased him too much.
That'd be rather disturbing, huh?
I hope that Tohru will be okay and that kyo will come and visit her. I love the way Yuki made fun of kyo and I don't think I can get use of Akito being so nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well that was the most drastic 180 turn of character I have seen in a long time. Seeing Akito smiling and not being gloating or evil just seems so odd!
Hmm, I wonder if this means the series will end soon...

Thank you for the putting up another translation summary of Fruits Basket. Between reading the Japanese manga and waiting for the English release I chose the Japanese version. The problem is I haven't started nor have I taken a good look at any one volume to see what level of Japanese is needed for a decent understanding of the story. I was wondering what you think the level of Japanese knowledge is needed for furuba? Perhaps by university levels (101,201 etc..) if you're more familiar with those categories.

Anyhoo, about the story i agree it's weird to see Akito behaving so mellow, but i think it is for real since Tohru approached her in such a way that Akito felt herself really understood for the first time (and reassured that she wouldn't be left alone in the end).
In real life such huge changes in people DO happen, cuz i've seen at least one person go through something similar (he wasn't homicidal, mind you, but still pretty bad ^^; ) The transformation was very slow, but it kinda started with a very big leap like we see with Akito here.
Ugh... sorry for the epic comment, but it's just that i really liked this chapter hehe.

In the earlier part of the series I really liked Kyo's character and wanted very much for Tohru and him to be together. Unfortunately, I don't really like Kyo that much in these two chapters. He seems so unlike his original character.
And is it just me? or are the drawings a lot different from the earlier chapters of Furuba? Like I udnerstand if Momijii grew up, but even Tohru, Kyo, Yuki and all the main characters look different. O.O

The real antagonist has not yet been fully revealed. If you think about it carelfully, the real villians, who have set up this whole situation and perpetuated injustice is the elders in Sohma Family. They, who are much older than Akito, have upheld the god, zodiac, and the cat tradition. They are also the ones whose words and action has hurt old the zodiacs, especially when they were young. They are the ones who has imprisoned the former cats and claimed it to be the proper thing to do. There still exist a power struggle within the Sohma Family centered around Ren and Akito with both sides flinging accusations at each other. Chances are very likely that Akito's supporters will abandon him once Akito start proposing changes. The real battle has not begun yet, in my opinion.
Very interesting proposition wontaek! I can't agree more because, as the story was unfolding, in my back of everyone's mind they must've known these traditions were put into place long before Akito. It'd be interesting to get to the bottom of this sad zodiac story and learn how things became the way they are, which I see as the greatest Furuba mystery.
Having said that I'd be sorely disappointed if the author decides otherwise.....

I have to say, this is taking too bloody sloooow! I mean, okay, Akito is "good" now, but I want to see more of how they're going to lift the curse!!! And Kyou and Tohru have got to just come to the point of mutual understanding!! Sooo slooow. :( And the bloody English manga is taking sloooow too! >_
Thanks for agreeing with me Michi. I think the question is more like can the author explain this, instead of will the author explain it. Things are too complicated and big, Sohma family control tens, more likely hundreds, of million dollars in assets, that I can't even fathom the depth of the problems, yet. Plus, it takes long time for those with mental issues to fully recover from them and Tohru herself has some of those within her as well.

I can't help but feel the whole "Akito is good now" thing going a tad...fast?
I mean really, people who have been like that for so long don't just change in a few days.
Being a Yuki-san fan, I've found Furuba not as fun anymore (thanks to the whole Kyo & Tohru thing)

Okay this could be getting good. I thought Shigure's whole point was to get Akito for himself (you know through all the mind games and sort ) . So if she now realizes that she needs to start appreciating Kureno ,which is the last place Shigure wanted her to be, and making friends with Tohru where is that going to leave a certain heartbroken dog?
i dunno about this... i still find it hard to buy Akito's change of attitude... it can't be due to Tohru being hurt, after all she did hurt so many people before, remember Rin? She almost killed her when she pushed her on the second floor window...
and also, i'm so confused with Yuki, in the previous chapters i thought he softened a bit with kyou & he started to understand him, but now he's back with that sarcastic princely attitude of his...
but i must admit that this chapter's very interesting... now i'm lost at how Takaya-sensei's gonna end this series...

Hi wontaek. Yes I think that's a good point. If she had no plans to address those questions from early on I'd imagine there will be difficulty to provide a supported explanation within a short time frame. I think she may be able to take a short cut and skip the details on a number of things, but hint at a promising future for the family as change is imminent.
It's been almost 2 years in the storyline since Tohru came ot live with Shigure and the other two...And now she makes friends (possibley) with Akito? I guess it was pretty hard for it to happen, but thanks to Haru's actions it all lead up to this. Thank you Haru!
Isn't Yuki still being too hard on Kyo? Such an ass right there - he knows Kyo feels bad...
As for Shigure's plan, perhaps it WAS to get Akito to hurt Tohru, and possibly get all the Zodiac mad at Akito once and for all and then reject her. Revenging and all.
Of all the characters, only Shigure still hasn't been "touched" by Tohru, so to speak. He may be the one that looks over them, but he still keeps his secrets and heart to himself. He knows Tohru's a good and gentle person, and she has healed or at least helped patch a lot of the hurts and problems that the Sohma family faced. But he himself still remains... somewhat above her.
*laugh* The reason Yuki's acting like that towards Kyo mostly has to do with the events in Ch. 123...they had a fight last chapter because a) Kyo wouldn't go to visit Tohru at the hospital, and b) he told Yuki directly that he thought Tohru would be better off with Yuki than with him. (Which hit Yuki hard at home, of course, because he /knows/ he can't do as much for Tohru as Kyo can.) But they've reached an understanding since then.
(Plus I really do think Yuki's trying to make him regret hurting Tohru the way he did, by rejecting her. He's very protective of Tohru in that respect. ^^)

First off, Akito being nice isn't an act. Allow me to explain my theory.
Shigure wants to end the curse. The missing piece is why are the sohma's cursed? Well, i'm guessing to end the curse he has to appease some conditions. It defently seams to be shigure's purpose to get tohru and kyou together, as well to make akito happy. He also has some sort of love for akito. Now, the curse seems to center around the cat. It would seem to me that the condtion would be for kyou to find and accept someone who truely loves him. Shigure also knew akito's murderious rage, felt like tohru needed to be introuble for kyou to act. Which up till now, it seems thats only when kyou acts. Perhaps Shigure's dark intentions are simply to either make everyone happy, make kyou happy or to get back with akito.
I do think the next series of plots after kyou and tohru are resolved/being resolved, with be the origin of why the sohma's where cursed
One thing that most people do forget, Shigure is a dog. Dogs are very loyal. So keeping with the animals he's fiercly loyal to something, and thats what is driving him to do whatever he really is doing
Wow, thanks for the catch-up. As a fan, I really appreciate it. Thanks for doing these summaries. I know that they must take up a lot of your time. The growth of these characters has just been amazing. And I'm really happy that, even if it's difficult, Kyou and Tohru seem to be going somewhere.
OH MY GOODNESS!!! I I love to read more furture. Who knows? I mean, in USA haven't release, you know other volumes of Furuba. Oh my GOD, this is soooo AWESOME!!!!!!

I think Shigure was just pushing things as far as he could, so that the normally passive 'cursed Sohmas' would be forced to move forward to try to change their destiny. For that to happen they needed to care about someone first (Tohru was the perfect candidate! ).
The comments always being said about Shigure's 'dark' and 'evil' personality probably refer to the fact that he knew Tohru was gonna get hurt for her 'meddling' in the Sohma problem... and uhh...he even kinda provoked it sometimes thinking it might be the only way to get thhings moving for the 11 cursed.
But still, i believe he does care about her.
Being as cold and dettached as he usually is, Shigure has actually shown signs of true kindness towards Tohru from time 2 time. Pretty remarkable for a guy like him right?
And after all, he did say he felt a little regretful for what happened to her. hehe
That's what i think anyways. It's really fun to theorize! xD

I really like the curse being connected to the cat. It makes sense also if you remember way back to vol.3 when everyone left for the movies and Shigure went to deliver the chocolates to Hatori.
Hatori asked Shigure if he was pleased by himelf and Akito using Tohru as a pawn for their own selfish reasons. And that one day someone was going to "let loose" on him.
I bet it will probably be Kyo no doubt when he finds out that Shigure has been planning this whole thing from the beginning.
Haru was about to put Akito in her place over Rin . Don't think Kyo won't do it for Tohru. Wouldn't that be cool?
I'm suprised by Akito's sudden change of heart. I think they will be friends for a while. but i can't help thinking what will happen to the curse.
i think it was a horrible ending they should have let yuki still fight over tohru. I lie the anime because it never tells who she ends up with!
Thank you very much for posting this. I downloaded Furuba scanlations chapter 1-107 a while ago, re-read them about 4 times, the 4 time I finished today. I had layed off on looking for more chapters, but today I felt I needed more. It would be lovely if I could find volumes 18-20... but I'm good with this for now.
I'm glad Tohru didn't die. I didn't think she would, because that would be about the worst ending (in my opinion).
I have so many feelings about Akito now! I used to her to the point I wished Haru would've just killed her that time he confronted her... she's put everyone through such hell it's unbelievable. It's great she changed! Of course it's not an act... this is Tohru we're talking about! I had actually never thought about Tohru reaching out to Akito... that was the last person... I'm starting to warm up to Akito, which I never thought I'd do =D.

Akito looks so strange dressed as a ! I mean I'd seen her like that at times like when Tohru found out she was female... but that picture up there is so distant.. kinda scary O.o'
I agree with shade and Wintermist. That's pretty much what I started thinking when reading this summary. Takaya has always made Shigure look like someone evil and twisted... but maybe he wants to help? Not so sure about everything revolving around the cat... but then again what do I know? He probably just wants to end the curse... along with some other intentions (we know he's loved Akito...). And about him being the dog and everything... he's been loyal to the dream he had as a kid, the one that Hatori, Ayame, and Ritsu had.
And btw... Yuki was never meant to be with Tohru... I'll stop now before I get rude.
Just a question... at the end of chapter 101, when Shigure is talking to Akito, they kiss (I believe) then it goes to flashbacks... after that they show Akito sleeping on a bed with Shigure sitting next to her. They... slept together that time..??

yah , I think the ending sucks too. it's not a matter off pairings for me . it's because natsuki has just focussed on tohru and kyo and there , oh so over dramatic love leaving most of the characters behind! I mean what kind of ending did momiji have? and kagura? it's like she was in the story just to love kyo and when he rejects her she diapears without giving her any kind of character development. and hatori ? he barely have any role at all in the last five volums! and ritsu? he was in the manga like twice?! I hate how takaya natsuki made yuki and tohru like strangers at the end . for god sake they are like spicial friends and she doesn't even thinks of hugging him after the curse ended?
and what about the rushing with yuki and machi pairing! she draged tohru's and kyo's relationship so much I got bored out of my mind with them . then she throws yuki with machi after they talk like three or four times! machi barely even says a word! heck yuki got more moments bounding with kakeru that he gets with machi!
I think this is the worst ending ever!
anyway kyo don't fit tohru at all !
this pairing couldn't stand alone . without yuki and shigure they would have never ended up together. tohru wasn't able to tell kyo how she felt until shigure talked to her in vol 19 . he was trying to push her to tell kyo about her feelings by saying that all the junishi looks down on kyo ( which is totaly untrue! yuki actually admires kyo he said that himself ! how can yuki admir kyo and look down at him at the same time? I don't see momiji as the type to look down on pepole too or kisa! it's just one of shigure's plots to bring kyo and tohru together he wants her to focous only on kyo so he made the rest look bad. )
and about kyo he wasn't able to accept tohru's feelings untile yuki talked to him! it was in vol 21kyo was about to leave tohru running away from the mistake he made, but yuki was there to show him the right path. Yuki said that he had always admired kyo he showed kyo that a man doesn’t have to be some super hero to protect the one he loves. He told kyo that just by being there with tohru he made her smile. he told kyo that there are things only kyo can do because tohru loves him, he made kyo understand his own strength! without yuki, kyo would have left tohru. so this pairing can't stand alone they just don't fit , kyo gets angry alot while tohru never gets angry. that would put alot of stress on tohru. while yuki and tohru just mach in evry way possiable.

I mean all she did was to there for him all the time even when he's so mean to her. and what did he do? he says she's stupid and delusional when she confess her love for him! he is so cruel! I know he was depressed but so was yuki! I mean yuki was the one to be left behind and still he was the one to be there for tohru after kyo left her. tohru was about to die! and all kyo does is sulking in his room while yuki stays with her in the hospital! it's not enough that he rejected her and insulted her when he said she is " stupid and delusional" no goes and ran away insted of trying to make it right!
he knows that tohru loves him so much that she will be sevearly hurt if he rejected her. He knows quite well how the words he said in vol 21 will hurt her and yet it didn't stop him from saying the words. He tendes to act like no one had a hard life but himself, going ballistic and lash out at the people around him, and then he goes and blame it all on yuki. you would say he pushed her away because he didn't want to hurt her , but he still say the words that hurt her the most. And then instead of making it right he run away and hurt her even more! And he didn't wake up until yuki talked to him and smashed the truth in his face! without yuki, kyo and tohru would have never gotten together in the first place! because kyo would have ran away from it all convincing himself that he's doing the right thing!
kyo and tohru don't fit together . sure they are cute , but cute isn't enough to make a couple stand on their own.
kyo is stuborn. not even tohru was able to make him see his own strength because with her he is always the one who made mistakes while she has never comited any kind of mistake towords him. she wasn't able to make him feel better about the guilt he had from not saving her mother, he knows that she will forgive him for it but what kyo needed to get over his guilt was for him to forgive himself , tohru couldn't make him forgive himself. it was yuki who did that in vol 21.
kyo needs some one who can smash the truth in his face to make him wake up. sweet talk alone didn't make kyo face his mistakes kyo needs some one more forcaful than tohru who can make him see the right path just like kagura! she can be truly sweet and she can be focaful when needed. kagura just fits with kyo and yuki just fits with tohru .
even through the manga kyo and tohru acted with each other like a brother and sister. just take a look at the manga! yuki was the one who flirted with her and told her how beautiful she is . comented on her clothes gave her presents! and cared about her and understood her and was there for her until the end! even when she clearly chose somone else!
the ending truly sucked. the ending was all about a couple , just one couple! From 15 characters the writer was fair only to tow of her characters. what a sad fact .
and about the yuki and machi couple 1- it's true that machi saw through yuki's princly facade but most of the time it was yuki who tride to know more about her and help her she barely askes him anything or trys to know more about him or about his family.
2- she dosen't know about the curse or yuki's past which is a big disadvantege. even if the curse broke , yuki still lived with it for 17 years ,there are scars in his heart that will be there forever. he needs someone who can understand what he went through to help him move past the hard times in the future. and machi can't do that without knowing about the curse. and now that the curse is no more yuki can't tell her.... who would belive him if he said he used to turn in to a rat if he can't prove it? that's why I hate the fact that the writer made the curse break just a second befor yuki was able to tell her. that was so cruel! If yuki told her about the curse and she accepted him ,yuki and machi would have been a much deeper couple! but NO! the writer didn't want to give a good ending for the rest of the characters , in the end of the manga it was like the writer has one track in her mind repeating the " kyoru kyoru kyoru".
3- machi should have apeared more in the manga to deepen the bound between her and yuki.or she should have apeared much earlier. it's like they meet and fall in love after tow or three meetings! that's why most fans like yukiru better. it's all the writters fault.she ruiend the end of the manga.... how sad.
I love all the characters. but still I really feel sad about how the manga ended. we get to see tohru's and kyo's grandaughter! who wants to see that? the writer has enough characters already but insted of talking about them she goes on and on about how super happy and romatic kyo and tohru's life is. what about the others? nothing.... that's how unfair she was. such a pity...
yah , I think the ending sucks too. it's not a matter off pairings for me . it's because natsuki has just focused on tohru and kyo and there , oh so over dramatic love leaving most of the characters behind! I mean what kind of ending did momiji have? and kagura? it's like she was in the story just to love kyo and when he rejects her she disappears without giving her any kind of character development. and hatori ? he barely have any role at all in the last five volums! and ritsu? he was in the manga like twice?! I hate how takaya natsuki made yuki and tohru like strangers at the end . for god sake they are like spicial friends and she doesn't even thinks of hugging him after the curse ended?
and what about the rushing with yuki and machi pairing! she dragged tohru's and kyo's relationship so much I got bored out of my mind with them . then she throws yuki with machi after they talk like three or four times! machi barely even says a word! heck yuki got more moments bounding with kakeru that he gets with machi!
I think this is the worst ending ever!

I don't see momiji as the type to look down on pepole too or kisa! it's just one of shigure's plots to bring kyo and tohru together he wants her to focus only on kyo so he made the rest look bad. )
