E.S. Posthumus: Unearthed

E.S. Posthumus' Unearthed

Since I haven't been to their website for a while, I didn't know that E.S. Posthumus has just released a remix of one of their 'Unearthed' tracks, Tikal, free to download. For those of you who are not aware of this group, E.S. Posthumus is basically an indie group fronted by two brothers, Franz & Helmut Von Lichten. Lately, their musics have been used on multitudes of movie trailers (Spiderman 1 trailer, xXx, etc). From the album itself, my favourite has to be Menouthis, which end bits was used in Planet of the Apes trailer (after the "get me the space man" dialogue). And then there's, Ebla, which was used for Matrix: Reloaded Japanese trailer. Their music has that old latin/gregorian feel to it, mixed with various percussions/synthesizers beats and often accompanied with complete orchestra.

Anyway, as far as the Tikal remix itself is concerned, I find myself not liking it so much (I'm actually not sure if they did this remix themselves or if Clive Czechov is completely unrelated to them). It's not bad or anything like that. I just think that the original version is far more powerful and unique. This remix feels a bit more like one of those trance music I get to hear in SSX game. It's unfortunate I can't find any site which has a tidbit copy of the original Tikal for you to listen to. But if you're interested, the last half of Minority Report 1st trailer actually used Tikal's closing verse. As for E.S. Posthumus themselves, I actually hope that the group will come up with a second CD after 'Unearthed' very soon. It will be a loss if they just become a one-hit wonder with 'Unearthed'. Those of you who haven't got the first CD should give it a try. If you like Vangelis/Enigma type of songs, this album is in that same kind of vein.

This album is amazing! I love this music, and I'm so glad there's actually an entire album of it. If they ever release a new one, I'll definitely check it out.

Their music is absolutely amazing, properly the best I have ever heard (I find that it rivals the Lord Of The Rings soundtrack). It can be so powerful or incredibly calming. I love their stuff and pray to God that they release another album!

Absolutely breathtaking and haunting! ES Posthumus are rare diamonds who will be remembered in future for being pioneers of this kind of music. If the hairs on the back of your neck doesn't stand up from listening to these tracks, something is wrong with you.

These guys are the best. No question, it's the most powerful music I've ever heard.

Full orchestral brilliance acompanied by subtle electronica... these songs are just plain BIG. Roll over Beethoven, E.S. Posthumus just owned you.

I only jsut got introduced to music by E.S. Posthumus when I watched "Hellsing Pompeii" witch is an anime music video using thier song Pompeii. It was so powerful that I used my iTunes gift card and bought it on iTunes... after that I bought more of E.S. Posthumus's songs too: Menouthis, Nineveh and Ebla. Ebla has been taking over my CD player and iTunes as of late, and I -- being a choir kiddo for 12 years -- have been thinking about searching for the lyrics (tho the best google gets me is to here). I swear tho, if I could have a concert of my own choosing... I'd DEFINETLY have Ebla as one of the songs.

(if anyone does know the lyrics -- translation with it even better! -- please for the love of anything email me!!!)

If you're not hung up on music fashions and such and are open to all types, THIS IS FOR YOU! ^^

Well, it seems I join the search for lyrics of E. S. Posthumus. For me, the fascination began with "Antissa," the melody and play of rhythm and digital processing of which makes me melt. I've no idea if any of this is right, but I caught myself singing along to something like: "...Mélez la lumière......si tu pouvais....la lumière...." Of course at some point you have to wonder whether this is all in my imagination, but if not it's French for something about light and action. Just not certain what verb goes up there as méler doesn't seem to fit no knowing the rest of the lyrics. If anyone has any clues, please send to jmgarrard@comcast.net .
