This is another entertaining episode for the series. I don't remember being that fond of this arc but after seeing this episode, I think this is definitely one of the better ones. It's definitely better than the one involving the little brat and is not as annoying as Miranda's arc. I think it helps a lot that the main villain is actually quite cunning and has some semblance of personality. In addition to this, this arc actually expand the series' universe by showing different permutation to the existing known facts about Exorcists and Akuma. The animation is also quite decent, which is a good thing since there are a lot of fight scenes in this episode. Unfortunately, the series seem to go back to the time when everything is dark and hard to see.
After seeing Allen and Lavi survived the attack of the plant, Eliade plans on reporting them to Krory so that they won't be able to run away from this castle. Meanwhile, Krory is in the middle of lamenting his fate to a large picture of his grandfather. He tells the portrait that he's become a vampire. As a result, he is hated by the villagers and no one wants to befriend him. He's resigned that he will always live in this castle and die in this castle as well. He, however, tries to encourage himself by saying that he has Eliade by his side forever. Despite this, he can't help but wonder if this is his grandfather's curse. He feels that because he's always attracted to the outside world, his grandfather put a curse which bind him and made it impossible for Krory to leave his grandfather's side. As a result, he wonders if his grandfather was the one who turned him into a monster. Krory's sadness, however, comes to a halt when Eliade enters the room.
Eliade tells Krory that Allen and Lavi have attacked her and burnt down the flowers in the basement. She encourages Krory to fight since he's already hated by humans anyway. In order to do this, she asks him to drink a little bit of her blood. She claims that Allen and Lavi are strong but she believes that by drinking her blood, Krory will become a strong vampire. She, however, also asks him to be careful and not kill her. When Krory hesitates, Eliade assures him that this is so that the two of them can live in this castle forever. As soon as she said this, Krory bares his fang and bites Eliade's neck. Meanwhile outside the castle, Allen and Lavi are busy digging the graveyard to find more proof of Krory's victims. Upon seeing the corpses, they realise that all Krory's victims are Akuma. Lavi believes the pentacle on the ground exist because the flesh of the Akuma has rot. If Krory has only been attacking Akuma then this isn't a vampire extermination.
Before the two can continue their talk, however, Krory already appears and sends Lavi into a wall, knocking him out cold. Krory then tells Allen that he's angry. As Allen tries his best to dodge Krory's attack, he demands a chance to talk to Krory. In order to make the guy listen to him, Allen turns his anti-Akuma weapon back into normal arm. He then tells Krory that the corpse of the villagers in the graves are all Akuma's. Because of this Allen wonders if Krory really is a vampire. In order to prove his point, Krory sneaks behind Allen and bites his neck. After doing this, however, Krory tells Allen that his blood taste horrible. In response, Allen believes it's because the blood that he drank was the blood of a human. Krory refuses to call Allen a human and thinks that the guy is a monster. In fact, he doesn't care about Akuma or Vampire. All he wants is to live in this castle with Eliade for eternity without anyone interfering with them.
Because of this, Krory intends on killing anyone who interferes. As soon as he said this, he runs towards Allen and punches the guy into the castle wall, creating a large hole in it. Just as Krory think that Allen is already finished, Lavi appears with his hammer to face him. Inside the castle, Allen regains his consciousness and realises that the stars spinning around his head is just Timcanpy. He tries to get out but his hand accidentally presses on one of the brick wall and activates a secret chamber. Once he's inside the chamber Allen quickly sees a silhouette of what looks like a large Akuma. All of a sudden the silhouette disappears and the door to the secret chamber closes in. From behind Allen, Eliade appears and complains about Allen rudely entering her secret room. Allen quickly notices the vampire bite marks on Eliade's neck but before he can do anything else, Eliade already knocks him into a wall and strains him with her hand.
Eliade complains with the fact that Krory didn't get to finish Allen so she plans on doing so herself. Allen wonders why Eliade is very strong and suddenly feels sleepy, as if someone drains all of his energy. Eliade, however, wakes him up by punching Allen with her other hand. She wonders why Allen is not responding. Allen tries to stay awake because he knows that he'll die if he falls asleep. He explains to Eliade that Krory is not their enemey but an ally. Eliade laughs upon hearing this and punches Allen again. She then blushes as she tells Allen that she won't allow Allen to take him from her. Outside the castle, Lavi explains to Krory that he's actually been sucking the blood of Akuma. He believes Krory is similar to Allen, in the sense that he's compatible person with a parasitic-type innocence. In other words, Krory is an Exorcist and has unconsciously been targeting Akuma.
Krory claims that he has no interest in this so Lavi tells the guy that he intends on getting his answer after Krory regains his consciousness. He then produces a hammer seal. Inside, Eliade tries to chop Allen's neck with an axe. She is shocked when Allen's anti-Akuma weapon activates itself even though that Allen himself is still unconscious. The anti-Akuma weapon then attacks her, injuring her in the process. All of a sudden, the marks on Allen's left eye transforms and produces a skull which exposes Eliade as an Akuma. Mana's voice is then heard telling Allen that he's home and the darkness is back. Allen remembers how when he was a kid, he told Mana that he would continue to be Exorcist even if he can't see with his left eye again. In the present time, the skull is absorbed into Allen's head and a gear-shape lens appears in front of Allen's left eye. Allen declares that his black and white world has returned and so does his reason to fight.
Impression:
I never realise before watching this episode that Eliade is actually in love with Krory. I always thought that she's just manipulating Krory but seeing her blushing as she talked about not letting Allen take Krory away from her suggests that she loves him. I think this will make for a fantastic but tragic ending when the arc concludes next week. I never thought that an Akuma is capable of loving another being but I guess this is as close as loving as Eliade can be. In other note, I find it interesting that Allen's left eye has now come with its very special gear-shaped lens. I think it looks cool and it's interesting how Mana encouraged Allen to dive deeper into a world darker than dark and brighter than white. I guess what he meant by this is for Allen to embrace his ability to see Akuma as opposed to fear it. It's also interesting to know that Allen's anti-Akuma weapon has its own self-awareness. It sure will come in handy in a situation like this one.

On next week's episode: Eliade's background.
Thanks for the summary and screenshots! Next week's episode will be interesting.
Am I the only one who's a bit bored by this series? Every week it's the same old there's an Akuma and Allen ends up destroying said Akuma. There is little variety on what the Akuma can do.
Huh? If you're talking about combat abilities you might have just choose to ignore the lv 2s... If you're talking about story-wise you might have chose to ignore Eliade.
1st Arc - We meet the first lv 2 Akuma, we see Allen and Kanda learning to work together. (3 episodes)
2nd Arc - We meet the Earl in person, learn about Allen's past, and see them fight alot of lv 1 akumas. (2 episodes)
3rd arc - We encounter a Noah, learn abit of their side of the story, fought 4 lv 2s, meet a new exocist, saw her growth, saw Allen's internal conflict and his determination. (5 episodes)
4th arc - Innocence hunting and Akuma destroying. A small look into what Exocists usually do, away from the main story. (4 episodes)
I'm sorry, same old? Or have you chose to ignore the other characters that interacting? Or the moral at the end of the arc?
That´s true. There really happens things...
Good episode anyway.
"It's also interesting to know that Allen's anti-Akuma weapon has its own self-awareness."
Err... is this fact known during the arc about Allen's past?
The part where the Anti-Akuma weapon activate by itself and attack Akuma-Mana?
I loveeee Krory's Grampa Pictureee XDDD lol
I like this episode special teh evolution of Allen's Curse~ *_* looks great~
Actually, I think all innocence have thier own self-awareness, not just Allen's. Further proof can seen in the manga, but for now I can point out that Crowley's innocence is 'forcing' him to kill Akuma...
I just realize that maybe Allen's eye evolve to that form to protect itself from future harm...
Interesting news, riki, I hope you don't mind me quoting you, but the new D.Gray-man opening will be sung by Nami Tamaki... There should be a change in the ending song as well...
Oh no, I don't mind. I found the news from the d.gray-man lj community and did some more research on it. ^_^
omg xD i looove this episode!! crow-chan's granpa rocks! xDD and i absolutely love the comments u put on the images(LMAO XD WHO'S JOHNNY??!! XDDDD) i love dgm
Yay! The PV for 'Pride of Tomorrow' is finally out!
And something to be wary of. No doubt his new monocle will be a great advantage, but it's still a source of enigma in the series and could have a dark motive.
