The first time I hear Lavi's voice in this episode I thought it sounds familiar but I couldn't figure out who the VA could possibly be. After checking out the wiki, I realise that his VA is none other than Kenichi Suzumura, AKA Hiitachin Hikaru in Ouran High School Host Club and Shirou Kamui in X TV series. Anyway, this is a rather entertaining episode although the ending always makes me angry for some reason. And am I the only one who thinks that a particular gate towards the end reminds me of Kingdom Hearts™? Maybe it's because I think that there's something inherently evil about Mickey and his merry friends. :P It would have been cool to see Allen blasting every single one of them.

The episode begins with direct battle between the two Exorcists versus the two Akuma. While trying to crush one of the Akuma, Allen realises that his previous wound starts to appear once again. Because of this he asks Lenalee to take care the situation while he returns to the dome to recharge his body. He quickly returns to the battlefield in time before Lenalee becomes a victim of an Akuma's ice blast. He explains to her that the time will return when they are away from Miranda. Because of this, he suggests that she goes back to the dome to replenish her health. When Road decides to recall her Akuma, Allen decides to inform Lenalee that Road is actually human and not Akuma. Upon hearing this, Road tells Allen that she's heard a little about him from the Millenium Earl. She knows that Allen became an Exorcist to save Akuma's soul and was cursed by his father. Because of this, if she's going to mess with someone's life, he would be her target.

Road then orders one of the Akuma to self destruct itself. She then explains to Allen that if Akuma is destroyed without using Innocence, such as when they self-destruct themself, the Akuma's soul will disappear into dark matter and can't be saved. Upon hearing this, Allen tries to destroy the Akuma but before he manages to do so, Lenalee already blocks his path, just in time before the Akuma explodes. As Lenalee takes Allen to safety, Allen can see the Akuma's soul begging him to save it. After the incident, Road laughs like a maniac, inciting Allen's wrath in the process. Allen's eyes starts to bleed, causing Lenalee to be concerned. Instead of being thankful, Allen rudely asks her why she stopped him. In retaliation, Lenalee slaps Allen and tells him it's because they are friends. Road then orders one of the Akuma to go after Miranda but before it manages to do this, Lenalee catches up with the creature and slices it with her boots.

Since her Akuma is defeated, Road decides to leave Allen and Lenalee. She proceeds to create a heart-shaped gate and tries to enter it. Before she manages to do so, Allen points his gun at the back of her head. Road looks startled at first but she then starts mocking Allen by calling him kind but then saying that she knows he hates her. She also tells him that his hand is also a weapon, reminding Allen that Road herself once said that weapons have been used by humans to kill other humans. Road then informs Allen that it's not good for an Exorcist to cry because of Akuma's death because then he'd be isolated from the others. Road then the opens the gate and goes through it as she asks Allen to play with her agains sometime. Although next time, it'll be on Millenium Earl's scenario. After Road left the area, the room starts to crumble before Allen can go back to the dome. When Allen opens his eyes, he finds himself back inside Miranda's room.

Allen eventually realises that the space that he occupied before was a product of Road's power. Allen suddenly hears Lenalee screaming for his name so he finds her and Miranda inside Miranda's room. As it turns out, Miranda is trying her best to maintain her Innocence active. She tells them that if she were to stop this, the time would return to the time when their injuries existed. For Miranda, this would mean that the "Thank You" from Allen and Lenalee would mean nothing. Allen and Lenalee disagree with this and tell Miranda that it's because of her they are still alive. Because they're still alive, Allen believes that the wounds will heal itself. Eventually Miranda agrees to stop her power so once again Allen and Lenalee return to their former condition: heavily injured and in comatose state, respectively. As soon as the clock hits 12 midnight, Miranda races to get a doctor. She then runs out of the town and manages to find Toma.

A few hours/days later, Allen wakes up inside a hospital and finds Komui standing next to his beside with a large drill. Allen suddenly remembers Lenalee so Komui tells him that she suffered nerve damage. Allen becomes concerned upon hearing this but a boy on the door assures him that she's going to be okay because his grandfather is helping her. The boy then introduces himself as Lavi and remembers that a woman who visited not too long ago left a letter for Allen. As it turns out, the letter comes from Miranda, who wants to apologise to Allen and Lenalee for not being there when they regain their consciousness. She tells them that the clock returns to normal once she stopped the clock and no one knew that they had gone through the 28th of October for 34 times. She believes that what happened inside the town was the Innocence testing her. Because of this, she is now going to her new job but hopes to meet them again as a fellow Exorcist.

Impression:

No matter how many times I see this story, I still can't believe that Allen let go Road Kamelot so easily. I really want him to blow her skull and send her remains to whichever Kingdom Hearts™ she came from. Unfortunately Allen suffers from 'Hero with a tender heart' affliction. For once I'd like to see a hero who doesn't mellow out when it comes down to wiping out the enemy, especially someone who is clearly as cunning as Road Kamelot. In addition to this, even though she's human, she clearly relishes the fact that she's not normal. She also happens to be the same person who: tortured Allen, tried to kill Miranda, and almost killed Lenalee. So why on Earth did he let her walk away without even one minor injury? He could have broken her arm, kneecaps her, or better: impale her head. Sure, it might end up being useless since she has regenerative power but at least he's given it a try. Oh well, hopefully somewhere down the line Road meets her match.

Anyway, I finally understand why the writers decided to include Toma in this episode. I always wonder how Komui can find out what happened to Allen and Lenalee so quickly in the manga version. In this one, Toma is clearly the one who informs Komui about the incident. In other note, I didn't realise that Miranda needed to take the entire clock with her in order to be an Exorcist. I always thought that she can just take the Innocence with her. How is she going to become an effective Exorcist this way? I can just imagine her fighting an enemy and constantly having to go back to the carriage so she can use her Innocence. And what would happen if someone runs away with said carriage? As much as I like the new, confident Miranda, I wish she had been given better tools as Exorcist. Anyway, next week should be interesting since it'll be the first time we'll get to see Lavi and his humongous hammer. While bigger is not better, at least it's a lot more portable than Miranda's clock.

Umm...Kenichi Suzumura played Hikaru in the anime, but he did play Kaoru in the radio drama. ^^;

Thanks for the screencaps (and summary)! Your captions cracked me up especially The Little Red Riding Hood ones!

When facing a regenerator like Road Kamelot, I'd personally opt for decapitation. If you do it right, you end up with a permanently separated head and body, which leaves all sorts of opportunities to further dismember the body and bury each part in the foundations of a different building. That way, even if the wretched creature somehow manages to stay alive, it will be contained. And hopefully the severing of brain and body will finish it.

It's good to know that I wasn't the only one who thought 'Kingdom Hearts' during Rhodo's gate scene. When I first read the manga, I had to double check that I was still reading D.Gray-Man; this one scene, with Rhodo entering the gate, didn't help at all that her hair looked so much like Sora's and Rero was held so that if you didn't look close enough it looked like a keyblade

About Miranda, later on in the manga...

She returns as an exorcist and the Innocence in her clock has been remodled so that it's a disk (called Time Record, I think) on her right arm so that it's portable. I think they need the whole clock to extract the innocence first and put it into a different body, or, if the innocence can't be removed (since the clock itself is the actual weapon and the innocence is usually imbedded in the weapon, i.e. Mugen and the Dark Boots) they can whittle down the body of the clock so that it's a disk.

On another note, yay Ravi! xD

As far as taking the entire clock goes: They need to extract the innocence from it as far as I know. It's never really mentioned, but I'd assume that much. Like when Hevlaska took the innocence out of the cylinder thingo that was Lala's heart? Except this time it'd go to Miranda because she's the accomodator.

*fangirl screams* Kyaaa! Rabi!!

Ahem.....I thought this was a cool episode....because of Rabi. I always think the biggest mistake the author made in this episode is including Rabi in what is supposedly Miranda's story. As a result, Miranda's growth is eclipse by Rabi's appearance.

Miranda's transformation reminds me of Bleach's Aizen. One minute they're ugly, another minute they're good looking.

Wait. How does Allen get the patch in the anime? Because in the manga he got it stabbed out by Road, right? (obviously the censors didn't allow that...) Did he just appear on the bed with the patch?

December 20, 2006 | NNN wrote:

Road did stab him with Candle but she used them in a projectile-like manner instead of by hand. It was also done off-camera.

Oooh . . . cool episode! I actually really like Road, for some reason. XD Hope we get to see more of her in the future. *has only read about 2 volumes of the manga so far*

I also thought of Kingdom Hearts with the door thing. XD Oh! And because of the way the whole room crumbled, and Allen fell, only to land on the floor of Miranda's apartment. Gave me flashbacks to the opening sequence of the first Kingdom Hearts game. o_o

Hmm. Apparently Rabi/Lavi is a popular character. ^^; But that huge mallet . . . *shakes head* Um, compensating much, Lavi? XXDD

Your comments on the pics this time were too funny. Especially the Mickey/PS2 games/Cinderella thing.

So, Lenalee has started the annoying friends thing. I love when Allen yelled at her. I like Lenalee, but when she starts having a holy aura with the friends thing she becomes quite annoying.

I love the Allen/Rabi pairing, so the last minutes made me happy. Rabi's also my favourite, and I don't understand quite well why he isn't more times in the opening and ending. The same for Crowley, but the one that intrigues me the most is Kanda, as he

kinda dissapears after the first action. Then he justs appears goes on a battle again and such, but Rabi and even Crowley have more spotlight. The same for the Noahs. And they paired Lenalee, Allen and Kanda a lot, makes me wonder if they are going to follow the same steps the manga follows, though from most scenes in the opening it's obvious. Who knows.

I like the Noahs a lot, and it wouldn't have been cool if Allen killed Road. Though he should have, if something like that happened to me I wouldn't have let her go away like that. Road seemed amused when he pointed at her.

That was a cool episode. ^_^ I love Ravi to pieces too, so sue me. I hear about more people loving Kanda than Ravi, though, oddly enough. Oh well.

Regarding some comments up there... Naruto is the show that went downhill. Not D.Gray-Man. Bleach is still excellent, but Naruto's not that great anymore, and it's too overpopular and too overrated anyway.

D.Gray-Man is refreshing, unique, has an awesome cast, and isn't overhyped like Bleach and Naruto are (as much as I love Bleach ^-^;;...). This is an anime for those who are looking for something classic and fulfilling instead of all the other overrated shows out there.

Garten, your pic comments were amusing, and you're so right about the KH reference XD

hahaha she won't use the entire clock, i think. hahaha just wait for future episodes. it will get better and i don't really wanna compare it with any other anime...it's good in itself. i like it regardless of how it is compared to naruto or bleach. :)
