This is a return to the usual fun episodes that comes after 3 or 4 serious ones. As usual, I actually prefer this kind of episode since it's usually when the writers excel at their game. Plus, they can still insert some surprising moments in between so as far as I'm concerned, this kind of episode is a win-win situation. Anyway, this episode marks the return of a character that I thought was dead a long time ago. What surprised me is that some people actually already know about it way in advance even before the second series went on air. Maybe I just don't bother to keep up with all of the spoilers but the first season's finale kind of gave the impression that she bit it big time. Come to think of it, I noticed that the second season doesn't really give Lelouch too many new opponents. Gino and Anya are supposed to be his new enemies but they don't pose much of a treat due to their personalities. Although after what Anya discovers in this episode, I wonder if she'll become a bigger problem for Lelouch.

Episode 12

Lelouch is shocked when he finds out from Sayoko that 'he' kissed Shirley. Sayoko explains that Shirley almost saw the door and besides, she thinks it's in Lelouch's character to do so (be a male-slut). If that's not bad enough, Sayoko has scheduled Lelouch to date many girls who have asked him out tomorrow. When Shirley finds out about this, she sees red. According to Sayoko's schedule, Lulu has to: have bentou with a girl at 7, go to an art museum with another girl at 9, goes shopping with another girl from 10.30. He then has to go to the Aquarium at 12 and fly off to a commerce treaty in Shanghai. This means that by the time he's back to Ashford to meet Shirley, he's already tired so he tries to sneak away from her, hoping he can make it up to her later. Instead, he's confronted by Anya, who wants to know if the picture in her electronic diary is his. Lelouch denies this, of course but is startled when Gino asks him to take him to his usual chess betting game. Before Lulu can give his answer, he's already been chased by a pack of fangirls so he runs to save his life.

Inside the dorm, Rolo is pissy because Sayoko has given Lulu a heavy schedule and forced him to date girls. I'll bet he wants to date Lulu too. Outside, things look bad for Lelouch when he's cornered by the fangirls and bumps into Shirley. Lelouch tries to smooth things over by giving her a dress but Shirley won't have any of it. Things just get worse when Milly announce that her graduation party will be called Cupid's Day. Uh oh. Rivalz is devastated when he finds out that Milly is going to graduate and asks if she wouldn't be better staying with them. Ho ho ho. Anyway, this Cupid's Day involves the girls wearing a pink hat and the guys wearing a purple/blue hat. If the girls can snatch a guy's purple/blue hat and uses that hat then she and the guy are lovers. In Britannia, Odysseus lament the declaration of war against the Chinese Federation. Schneizel wonders if the Emperor has given the order so Bismarck confirms this, saying that the Emperor wants them to plunder everything. Ah, nothing less than pillage and plunder from our survival of the fittest Emperor.

A fugly pink hair Princess called Karine mouths off that she's in agreement to defeat the Chinese agreement. She looks like a girl who'd know more about clothes than politics so I wish she'd shut her mouth. Okay, I take back that fugly comment because there's a fuglier girl in the Britannian Royal family. Her name is Guinevere and she thinks they should not allow the Chinese Federation to insult Odysseus. Odysseus, however, claims that he doesn't mind the Tianzi incident and besides, they are still at war with EU and he prefers the peaceful solution that they took with Area 11. This incites protest from Karine who doesn't like Nunnaly but Odysseus suggest that they be friends. Guinevere thinks if Cornelia is in good health, they would have made an easier decision. Unfortunately for them, no one has heard from Cornelia. Because of this, Schneizel decides to bring two army divisions to Mongolia. He thinks there's no need for them to battle since the present Chinese federation's armies are scattered. He believes he can obtain half of the territory by negotiation.

Meanwhile at the cult's temple, the still alive Cornelia can be seen wasting the members away. Her intention is to clear up Euphemia's name. At the same time, Gino is pestering Suzaku to come to Milly's graduation party but Suzaku is too busy licking Britannia's shoes to have fun with his friends. Gino thinks he's no fun and even Guilford suggests that Suzaku at least gives them a call later. Meanwhile, Karen who's imprisoned and gets to wear C.C's mental patient jacket gets a surprise visitation from Nunnally. Back at Ashford, Lelouch wonders how he can get away from the danger that is Cupid's Day. He gets the idea of Villetta grabbing his hats but Villetta refuses because she doesn't want to deal with the misunderstanding (not to mention who wants to deal with jealous fangirls?). She argues that since Sayoko who created this mess, it should be Sayoko who grabs the hat. Sayoko, however, claims that she can't do this since she has to be Lelouch's double during the event. At any rate, Villetta still refuses and suggests that Lelouch uses Shirley instead.

On the day of the event, Suzaku makes a phone call to apologize to Milly for not being able to come. Milly then announces the start of the event which has every girl foaming at their mouth. Rivalz is hoping that Milly doesn't like being engaged and will snatch his hat. Keep on dreaming. Anyway, Milly repeats the rule about how each person has to snatch the hat of the person that they like in order to be lovers. There's no rule in how they can get their hat so any method is possible. Unfortunately for Lulu, Milly adds another point: a club which can get the hat of Class 3-D Lelouch Lamperouge will get tenfold of club's expense. Because of this, everyone are running after Lelouch the minute Milly starts the event. Thankfully for Lulu, Rolo geass the entire school, causing everyone to freeze on the spot. He then drags Lelouch into the closet to save him from the trampling fangirls. Back at the ruins, Bartley and his crew are arguing. The crew suggests that they flee. In the middle of the argument, Cornelia drops down and points her sword at Bartley.

Bartley is actually relieved to find her. He tells her to save them because the Emperor is planning to end the world. Cornelia is shocked to hear this. Back at Ashford, Gino is enjoying the game since it means he's being chased around by girls. Lelouch is satisfied to know that Gino's real intention to come to this school is just to fool around. And while Anya is suspicious at him, he considers it at an acceptable level. A stupid random girl called Meeya manages to snatch Lulu's hat when he's not paying attention but Lulu just geassed the girl. He then switches position with Sayoko. However, she's detected by the Rugby team, who makes an attempt to jump her. Sayoko, however, manages to jump on top of their head and evades them. Thus begin a war between Milly and Lelouch using fake Lelouch. Milly uses all sorts of tactics to capture Lelouch including using a bevy of beauties but none of it works against this very agile version of Lelouch. Anya, however, goes one step further by using Modred to find Lelouch's whereabouts. This, of course, alarms the Britannian army.

Sayoko as Lelouch decides to hide in the library to escape Modred's body heat detection but at the same time, Lelouch can be seen exiting the briefing room. Just as Lelouch steps into the library, Modred destroys the library and tries to make a grab at Shirley, Lelouch pushes Shirley away to safety while Sayoko tries to distract Anya. This, however, makes Anya aware of the presence of two Lelouch. Thankfully for Lelouch, Villetta tells Anya that she's not allowed to use Frame in this school. Downstairs, Shirley asks Lelouch as to why he kissed her. He claims that he likes her and although it's not the truth, Shirley doesn't mind because Lelouch finally comes back. She feels Lelouch that's been with them lately is not Lelouch-like. She then asks Lelouch to close his eyes, but in the end, she doesn't kiss him like she wanted to. She just exchanges hats with him. In the aftermath, everyone congratulates Milly on her graduation and she becomes a weather girl. No, really. The episode ends with Orange using his Geass to cancel the Geass that's been used on Shirley. As a result, Shirley remembers that Lelouch/Zero killed her father.

Highlights

* Did Villetta gets botox injection to her lips? I don't remember her lips being so full and rounded like it is now.
* Sayoko's insane schedule for Lulu. It takes dedication to fulfill that kind of schedule. Points for the crazy fangirls chasing him around and jealous Rolo.
* Poor Rivalz looking devastated when he finds out that Milly is going to graduate.
* Milly's crazy "Cupid's Day" idea. From the moment I heard it, I knew I'll be in for a ROTFL moments in this episode.
* Karen wearing C.C's straight jacket costume. I guess back then C.C really was poor and couldn't afford new clothes. Now she gets to wear sexy Chinese dress while poor Karen is stuck with the straight jacket costume.
* LOL, I can't stop laughing when I heard Rivalz hoping that Milly will snatch his hat. The poor thing.
* Milly's sneaky attack on Lelouch and Rolo's response to it. I'll bet Rolo would love to be left all alone with Lulu in the closet.
* Cornelia finding out about his father's plan. A plan that might cause the world's destruction.
* 'Lelouch' ignoring a bunch of girls posing in sexy manner. They should have tried it with guys and see if it works.
* The same goes with Gino. Who was he fooling, getting chased around by girls? That graduation photo proves that he wants to bone Suzaku.
* Milly as the weather girl. Poor Rivalz. He never had the chance to confess his feelings. On that note, everyone should see this Japanese film called The Weather Woman.
* Shirley regains her memory/Orange-kun's Geass canceller. Should have seen this coming but it was still a surprise.

Impression

I don't think I'll ever be able to understand the dynamic of the Britannia Royal Family. Do they actually like each other or want to kill each other? Sometimes I get the impression that the Emperor will throw his children to the lion if he feels like it. To that regards, sometimes I get the impression that Schneizel doesn't really like his father either. Oh well, with a father like Charles, no wonder the majority of the children are messed up. On that note, what will Cornelia do once she finds out about her father's plan? I never get a grasp of her relationship with her father but I assume she obeys him? I wonder what will happen if she finds out that her father has an indirect hand in the whole shenanigans. At the moment her main concern seems to be the destruction of the cult, whom she believes to be responsible for Euphemia's death. In reverse, the Emperor doesn't seem incline to tell his plan to his children. I wonder why this is the case. I would have thought that he'd at least share his grand plan with Schneizel but that doesn't see to be the case.

Anyway, the most entertaining part of the episode has to be Milly's crazy idea to capture Lelouch. It's amusing because this time around Lelouch is actually Sayoko. If this had been the real Lelouch, someone would have beaten him earlier. It's kind of sad to see Milly out of the picture but at least she escapes from the whole situation alive. If this is the last time we see of her, then it means she'll live a happy life as a weather woman and if fate intervenes, maybe she'll get on with poor Rivalz. I wish I can say the same thing about Shirley but she seems to be one of those characters with the word "sacrificial lamb" written across her forehead. In general, I think C.C, Karen, and Shirley's life is in great danger because they are the three women who are closest to Lelouch. C.C is an ancient being who's probably looking forward to end her immortality once she achieves her intention. Karen is in danger because she is in the front line of every dangerous battle. Shirley, on the other hand, is in danger because she's the easiest target to pick due to her proximity with Lelouch when he's not pretending to be Zero. Moreover, with her knowing that Lelouch killed her father, I don't think there can be a happy ending between her and Lelouch.

The Japanese sidesteps the problem of being accused as lolicons by declaring that 15 is the legal age of a person.

I think Lelouch will be the only man standing at the end, fulfilling C.C's prophecy that a man in power is a lonely man.

Anya using her frame to catch Lelouch, that just tops off all the humor in this episode. Add 1 more...make that several more for Lelouch's Harem.

I just like to think of the Britannian royal family as the British Royal Family. They pretend to like each other, but really you know Charles just hates William, that Her Majesty just loathes Camilla and that EVERYBODY secretely hated Diana god rest her soul.

As for Cornelia, the reason her lips look different is that she is no longer wearing that god awful and gaudy purple lipstick to match her hairstyle.

Anyway, it's looking like Shirley might bite it right now, so I'm going to guess she lives and somebody else dies instead.

You don't do botox for the lips - Botox only relaxes muscles by killing/paralyzing nerves. That'd have to be silicone or something else to 'fill them out'.

And I think Sayoko's as gay as Lulu, given that she decided to play him... and took advantage of the other girls to get him set up with a whole bunch of dates, whereas the REAL Lulu wouldn't do so. ;)

Incidentally, I think Shirley MIGHT take a bullet for Lelouch later, if only to increase his guilt load a tad. It's not like Orange-kun isn't already gunning for him. Now, if only Orange un-Geass' Suzaku...

Come on, man, you know better than that, right? If you don't see a dead body, they ain't dead. And if it's Sunrise or Marvel, if they were at least somewhat interesting, you can assume they'll eventually turn back up actually alive (or cloned, or aternate universe versioned, etc.), even if you do see a dead body.

Characters I think may end up not surviving include Xing Ke, Toudou, Shirley, C.C., Charles, Jeremiah, Rolo, and Cornelia for now. I think Shirley has a 50/50 chance of survival and may or may not turn over to the dark side ^_^; I would like Tamaki and Nina to just fall off the face of the earth now and then, but that's just my opinion.

I was actually a bit sad that Milly and Lloyd aren't engaged anymore. I actually liked that pairing ... as odd as it was ^_^

I'm so happy to see Cornelia back, but I'm a bit worried about her since I'm not sure what will happen if she does go up against her father and V.V. I kind of like this current look on her too, she looks a bit like she did before Marianne was assassinated.

June 30, 2008 | h wrote:

Baaaah, why did Milly cancel the engagement? Was it for Lulu, Rivalz, or 'staying true to herself'? I rather liked the paring, but maybe that's just because I find Cecile annoying.

LOL@anti-geass, I hope it wipes off Suzaku's 'live' too. Maybe I misunderstood, but did V.V. mean that he wants Orange-kun to go around un-Geassing everyone that were geassed by Lulu?

I think Lelouch and C.C have the greatest chances of surviving, but seeing as CLAMP's got their claws all over this Lulu's single Geass'd eye will probably get eaten or something. Or even worse, his normal eye.

I hope Gino, Rolo, Xing Ke, Anya, Tianzi, Suzaku's moe cousin whose name I can't remember at the moment, and Lloyde live. And maybe Marianne? Who knows, she could still be alive for all we know. :O

I have to disagree that these are the best episodes, I personally find them to mostly be a waste of time. I couldn't care less about the school shenanigans, I want to get back to the main plot.

As for characters who I think will die, I sadly have to say that I think Suzaku should be afraid for this life. It's going to be hard to resolve his plot, but death might be the best way to do it. I also agree that Kallen and CC should be worried. Not so sure about Shirley, since she's been such a minor character for so long (I am glad to see her get back into the main plot, since I do like her).

Lelouch should also probably be worried. There really isn't any character I can't see potentially dying. Except probably the cat ^_^

June 30, 2008 | Gamen wrote:

@Mina: CLAMP are the character designers, I don't recall them having creative input plotwise. And I don't think Sunrise has cleaned out the cast since Ideon.

@quigonkenny: True, but I don't even think that's relevant in this case. Cornelia was injured, but before Lelouch could do anything but geass and interrogate her he was chased off by Orange. There was so little to indicate she might have died that the thought didn't even cross my mind.

As well, I recall the Shirley had already begun to accept Lelouch's role in her father's death last season, and the geassing was to protect her, not keep her from harming him.

As far as the royal family goes, remember many of them are vying for the throne, are apparently shown no affection from their father, yet besides the mystery of Marianne have not engaged in assassination, and, as in he case of the Cornelia-Euphemia-Lelouch-Nunally quartet, even care for each other deeply. They're pretty much what you'd expect from a large group of siblings competiing for a thrown, besides the lack of assassination.

Bad episode but I'm relieved to know Kallen is under Nunnally's jurisdiction so she'll probably be fine, now I'm more concerned about the Guren Nishiki in Lloyd's filthy hands. The two new princesses are hideous btw! Wow now Shirley remembers everything I wonder what will happen, and Anya saw two Lelouch's! That will cause lots of trouble, plus Corn's back... Overall the episode was not that bad because of the twists and was kind of funny. Now I wonder if Jeremiah uses his Geass canceler in people Lelouch had Geassed, will Lelouchl be able to use the Geass in the again? Lulu's Geass needs and upgrade so urgently, it's kind of lame now...

All the characters are likely to die the only ones that might stand still are CC (since she's pulling the strings behind Lelouch for a goal) and Lelouch but I think a dark fate is waiting for him and therefore maybe for Nunnally also. I have the feeling that Shirley is going to make a mess!! she's so likely to be wiped out, just like Nina (hopefully).

I do hope Jeremiah "ungeasses" Suzaku since I think death's the best writers can do for this character, BUT PLEASE! Don't kill him before he sees beyond his nose for a second (and not before he learns what happened with Euphie was an accident) and even asking Lelouch forgiveness? I don't know bit this fuckhead must to something to redeem himself before he goes.

As for the Royal family I hope they all die specially the Emperor being crushed by his own philosophy, either being killed by Lelouch or his children, either Schneizel (whose waiting the right moment to challenge his father) or Cornelia; the killing each other thing you guys have said sounds really nice. I think they'll die for sure since they are in Lelouch's way and I am certain that in the end Lelouch (*cough* CC *cough*) will succeed, though at a very high price.

As for the Black Knights I hope most of them to live, they deserve it, specially Kallen for being so brave, dedicated and loyal.

One of the most interesting topics we are all expecting answers about is Marianne/CC/Anya/Ashford Foundation thing, I hope they do not disappoint us.

Last, they could have given Milly more involvement for being and Ashford and being aware of Lelouch and Nunnally's true origin, but I guess that was no longer and option when her memory was modified.

B.)He'll manage to hold on to one person, which most likely is gonna be C.C or Kallen (Karen, idk anymore...)..though now that whatsherface has her memories back...it might be a good shot for her too...

C.)Lelouch dies protecting Nunnaly or Kallen or the chick or something...and then after everyones still alive but him and the King everything is happy-no-elegy

But these are just my thoughts on it. BTW:

If you have a deviantart and are proud supporters or the Lelouch/Kallen match-up then add me :D Cuz they seem so right for eachother and watching the chick and C.C kinda makes me mad...(btw im a dude but no Im not gey...>_> i just have too much free time. I got through season 1 and whats out of season 2 in like...a day total, two days of almost constant watching.)

and sorry for such long comment >_>

Well, seeing as Jeremiah has now displayed the ability to remove memory removal Geass,
I think a few characters will end up having abit more of their past explained, or just remembering everything in general. (Ashford Acadamy will become offically jacked up. YES!)
I know that this happened a few episodes back, but does anyone else think that mark on Anya's arm is something more than a tattoo?

Even though it is probably pretty unlikely, I hope Rolo survives the entire series. I have a feeling he'll become a plot device.
Better yet, what if he was related to the Royal Family some how? Instant plot device. (He did say he had something to protect, and I don't think that something was the school.)
Yes. Throw the trained assasin in with the dog fighting Royal Family, that should end well.
Pick them off like ants, Rolo..Too bad he wouldn't do it unless Lelouch told him too, get a back bone, fruity..
Lelouch should live... Shirley, Nina, and C.C. need to die. Shirley.. She's not helping in Lelouch's love life, Nina is just insane, and C.C...
I think it's safe to say after living all these years, she WANTS to die.
If you want 'not going emo' drama, I'd have to say they need to kill off Rivalz. Only person who would flip is Millay/Milly and Shirley.
But Shirley is already messed up, so...
Neh, anyways. That's all I have to comment.

I just saw R2 13 and the new OP is funny, Code Geass is turning into Gundam, wtf is with the new mods for the Lancelot and Guren?

On a forum, someone posted a week or so ago that if Lancelot had a new upgrade, it would be Lancelot Freedom....lol how true it became.

BTW: change of heart for Rollo, he needs to perish.
