The funnies continue in this episode, which is a good thing for me because it balances all of the fluffy and sweet parts. I actually couldn't believe that the joke even go down there to the futanari level. But it was funny and entertaining to watch. This episode is also the first episode where the focus shifts from the relationship between Nagisa and Tomoya to the mystery behind Fuko's condition. Personally though, of all the girls, Fuko is the one that annoys me the most. On the positive side, it's refreshing to know that one of the lead girls has no potential to be Tomoya's love interest. After all, the writers could have made a harem out of every single girls but they decide that not everyone has to be attracted to Tomoya. Nagisa and Ryou seem to be the only girls who are attracted to Tomoya while the others seem to have little to no interest in him.
In order to find out more about Fuko's condition, Tomoya and Nagisa go to Fuko's sister's house. Despite being invited to come with them, Fuko refuses to come. Tomoya, however, doesn't believe that Fuko is a spirit of the real girl who is unconscious. He thinks 'Fuko' probably just believes that she's Ibuki Fuko. Upon meeting Fuko's sister, Tomoya realises that she's none other than the woman who visited Nagisa's bread shop a few days ago. He explained to Nagisa that he gave Fuko's sister the bread that Nagisa's mother made. Upon hearing this, Fuko's sister wonders if Tomoya is Nagisa's boyfriend, which causes Nagisa to fluster and goes into denial mode. Tomoya is obviously disappointed but Nagisa explains that she didn't mean that she doesn't like him. She just thinks there is someone better for Tomoya. Upon hearing this, Fuko's sister wonders if Tomoya has someone but Tomoya denies it so Fuko's sister tells Nagisa that it looks like Nagisa has a chance.
In order to change the topic, Nagisa decides to congratulate Fuko's sister on her engagement with a man called Yuusuke. Fuko's sister is surprised to hear this because she never told anyone but her sister about her engagement. The same sister who's unconscious at the moment. Because of this, Tomoya lies and tells Fuko's sister that there's probably rumor at school when someone saw her and her fiancee walking together. Later on, Nagisa and Tomoya decide to talk about this latest development and Nagisa tells Tomoya that she doesn't think Fuko was lying. Because of this, Nagisa decides to help Fuko making those wooden sculptures. She apologises to Tomoya because he's been trying hard to help her with the drama club but she feels that she must help Fuko. Tomoya, however, doesn't mind since Fuko's situation bothers him as well. Because of this, they decide to take Fuko back to Nagisa's home. The problem is, Nagisa's parents know Fuko's sister.
Because of this, Tomoya and Nagisa decide to ask Fuko to use a different family name. Fuko uses "Isogai", which turns out to be the neighbor's name. Thankfully Tomoya quickly claims that Fuko has no relation to the neighbor. Later on when Tomoya comes to Sunohara's place, he's surprised to see a bunch of rugby players running away from the building. It turns out the resident manager was chasing them away. Tomoya suggests that instead of slapping them, next time she should do joint lock on those perverts. As soon as he finished saying this, Sunohara comes out so Tomoya calls him peeping tom. Sunohara immediately gets his arm twisted by the resident manager. After the incident, he informs Sunohara that they'll be watching over Fuko and Nagisa for awhile since he's worried about them. The next day, Tomoya goes over to the bakery to check over Nagisa. Upon entering the shop, however, he is surprised when he finds out that no one is around.
As it turns out everyone in the family is busy helping Fuko carving the wooden statue. Tomoya reminds the dad that they have customer but the dad tells him to mind the store. In response Tomoya tells him that's not the kind of favor one should ask from their daughter's friend. Sanae agrees with this and suggest that they carve the statue while minding the store. Tomoya then tells Fuko that when he sees the stars all together, they look like starry sky. Fuko, however, claims that they are not stars but starfishes. In fact, she doesn't understand why she would be carving stars. Tomoya retorts that carving starfish makes even less sense but unfortunately even Nagisa thinks that these are starfish. At school, the two help Fuko distributing the starfish. Tomoya suggests that instead of doing this, maybe she should talk to her sister. Fuko argues that the reason she's doing this is because she feels that she can't talk to her sister.
Nagisa then asks Fuko what her sister calls her so Fuko tells her "Fu-chan". Nagisa asks Fuko if she can call her that and Fuko agrees immediately but refuses when Tomoya wants to call her the same name. They then go around the school giving the stars to the librarian girl, Miyazawa. Later on, Fuko falls into her dream-state again when Nagisa hugs her so Tomoya decides to play a prank on her by asking Ryou to pretend to be him. Not surprisingly, Kyou is unhappy to see her sister being used by Tomoya to play prank on another girl. Unfortunately, seeing Ryou, Kyou, and Tomoya simply causes Fuko to think that there are 3 Tomoyas. After this, Fuko gives the starfish to Kyou and Ryou. Kyou wonders if these are supposed to be starfish and is surprised when she finds out that's the case. Nagisa thinks that the two sisters look cute together. Tomoya, however, informs her that deep down, the older one is like gorilla while the younger one is like hamster. In exchange for the insult, Kyou throws the starfish at Tomoya.
Tomoya tries to tell Kyou that Fuko will be unhappy that she throws away her gift. But much to his dismay, Fuko approves the flying starfish. Later on, Fuko meets a girl called Mitsui, who is surprised to see Fuko around since she heard Fuko was in an accident. Because of this, Tomoya claims that Fuko has just got well and is now restarting as freshman. Unfortunately, when Fuko asks Mitsui if she can come to her sister's wedding, she refuses because she has exam to attend to. Fuko becomes depressed that night but she agrees that she should be relieved that at least Mitsui remembers her name. She also admits that she wish she can attend class normally. Because of this, Tomoya calls up his friends so they can create a mock class for Fuko during the weekend. Nagisa's mother then comes to the class to play the role of a teacher. The class then elect Fuko to become the class leader so she gets to experience what it feels to be in a real class.
Impression:
That was pretty funny. Just like Kanon, this series has a funny and interesting lead character in Tomoya. I like that he's slightly sarcastic and rude but a good person inside. I also agree with him regarding star vs. starfish. Who in their right mind would think that those objects are starfish. But then I remember that these girls are weird so I guess their reaction is to be expected. As for Fuko, it looks like she really is a spirit or astral projection of the unconscious girl. I don't understand why she's restless though. Is it because she didn't have a chance to be a real student before she got into an accident. Well, now that she got that chance, maybe she'll wake up for real. In a way, she reminds me of Midori in Midori no Hibi, who became unconscious because she's too afraid of facing reality and instead choose to indulge in a make-believe wish where she's someone right hand. The ending with everyone at school was a bit too sweet for me. I mean these people barely know her but they act like they are her BFF.
Waii~!! I like how they tried to bring out as much material as possible for anime fans and fanservice...being the comedy part :D It's always important that the anime is worth the wait..
It could be me but I think Kyoto's animation on this current episode really is unlike I've seen before O.O Characters moving simultaneously at their own pace. It's like two scenes since I last saw them. Other than the blowing skirt and such that's another new thing to me XD Could this be an obvious approach against Toei's visual strategy? :3 No idea but I love it~!!
The storyline finally starts to move but I wish they'll do it at a faster pace. Some of the things in this episode seem like the kind of details that the fans of the game would love but for normal viewers like myself, it feels like unnecessary padding.
"This is what people call orgy!" - ahahaa...
The only character that is even an oz realistic is the one you labeled "bitch," - I love how she has dignity to say "no" to the who-knows-how-she-got-into-high-school Fuko.
Is Fuko another one of those spirit things, btw?
I like Tomoya's character - he really spices up this series.
Kikuko Inoue who does the seiyu for sanae did mizuho in onegai teacher, so i found Sanae being a teacher ironic. Tomoya's attitude towards the other people around him is quite entertaining,
I'm absolutely loving how different Clannad's approach to each girl's arc is compared to Kanon's. What do I mean? I mean that it was Nagisa who's spearheading the whole movement to help Fuuko at the start. Tomoya was more or less just being dragged along for the ride. It's wonderfully refreshing to watch both Nagisa and Tomoya work to help Fuuko, rather than just having the lone protagonist at work. This interaction makes the relationship between Nagisa and Tomoya seem all the more realistic. And Nagisa can be surprisingly assertive, it seems. As far as I'm concerned, the people who are writing this off as another Kanon clone are just giving it a cursory glance, and not looking deep enough to examine the characters and relationships being developed.
I dont like clannad... i think that KyoAni should make another Full Metal Panic instead of this. The story is flat and boring. The animation is good but when the story has nothing else...
The story is starting to move, it will get to somewhere.
Hey, can you please start reblogging D.Gray-Man since its back on the manga story? Pleaaaaseies? ._.
So... everyone can see Fukai except for her sister? Err... wth? It's like the Kanon storyline all over again. I know they're all produced by Key and are interconnected but at least they should ATTEMPT to write something more original.
Actually Fuko is very different from Kanon's story >.> just watch and see...
