Wow, this turns out to be one unusually entertaining film even if the plot is kind of thin and lack of depth. The film actually relies a lot on viewer's knowledge of the game and without it, I suspect some of the scenes will be rather hard to understand. Having said that, what the film lacks in plot, it definitely makes up alot in cool action scenes and haunting soundtrack. Anyway, I'm going to recap parts of this film but honestly, a 2 hour movie is too much to cover on my own. Because of this, I'm just going to keep this as brief as I can since I figure most people will prefer to see this on their own. In addition to this, please be aware that there will be many spoilers from this point forward.
The film begins with a similar scene to the one that appears at the end of the PS game, where Red XIII and two of his kind find out that the world has been restored to its lushful and healthy state. The film then makes it obvious that the story that is about to unfold is actually a flashback to 498 years ago. The story begins with a shot of the northern cave, where the Turks appear inside a Shinra helicopter, talking about how they've finally found the place. Once the helicopter descends, however, gun and panic sounds from the Turks can be heard. Judging from the conversation, there seems to be another person in the area attacking them. The Turks, who seem to be losing the fight eventually flee with their helicopter.

Cut to a shot of lifestream while a little girl tells a story of how Lifestream flows around the planet and is the origin of all life forms. She then mentions how Shinra attempted to harvest Lifestream's energy but the whole thing ended in disaster. The film then shows various events from the game including Jenova's destruction, the final battle with Sephiroth, and Aerith's death. Meanwhile, the girl says that in order to stop the destruction, the planet gushed out Lifestream that eventually enveloped the planet and its inhabitants in sadness. Cut to a shot of a city full of sick and homeless children who are suffering from a mysterious condition called Seikon Shoukougun (I think this will be called Geostigma in the English version).
The film then reveals that the narrator is actually Marlene, Barrett's adopted daughter from the game. It seems Marlene's friend, Denzel, also suffers from the disease, causing her to fear for his life. Meanwhile Tifa is seen at the bar downstairs, washing the dishes when the phone suddenly rings. Tifa reluctantly answers the phone but seems to be rather happy when she recognises the voice on the other side of the phone. Cut to a shot of a wasteland. Cloud is in the middle of listening to a voice message from Tifa. She basically informs him that Reno of the Turks has just contacted her about a job for him. She also wants to know if he's okay lately. Cloud hangs up the phone and next to him, the title of the film appears.

When he's about to leave the place, Cloud suddenly grimaces in pain, suggesting that he too has been infected by Geostigma. He, however, shrugs it off and leaves the area. After Cloud left, three silver-haired men appear on the scene and survey the area. One of the men, Yazoo, asks the other man called Kadaj if the town in front of them is their brother's hometown. Kadaj confirms Yazoo's guess. Yazoo then wonders if they'll be welcomed over there but Kadaj immediately dismisses the idea. Kadaj then points out that he spots their 'brother', who turns out to be Cloud himself. Loz and Yazoo immediately give Cloud a chase. Along the way, they release few monsters to slow down him down a little bit.
Once Cloud slows down, the two veer to his side and ask him where he hides their 'Mother'. A big battle on top of motorbikes then ensues as Cloud tries to shake off the unwanted companies. Unfortunately for Cloud, his Geostigma condition makes him rather weak. However, just as Cloud is about to lose, Kadaj signals both Loz and Yazoo to leave the guy alone. Cloud is confused about this but decides to continue his journey to meet Reno at the Healing Lodge. Once he gets there, however, he locks Reno outside so he can deal with Rude. He soon finds out that Rufus Shinra, the ex-president of Shinra Corp, is still alive but has become disabled due to the injury that he suffered after the failed operation of diamond weapon.

Rufus claims that he now wants to restore the planet to its previous condition because he feels responsible for causing all of these problems to begin with. Because of this, he started to investigate the influence that Sephiroth may have left on the planet and he believes that they've found no traces of such things. Rufus, however, tells Cloud that he's aware of the three men who attacked Cloud not too long ago. He thinks the brothers are harmless right now but they could become a hindrance in his attempt to restore the planet. Because of this, he needs someone as strong as Cloud to back him up. Cloud, however, refuses the offer and only wants to know the reason that the brothers are looking for 'Mother'.
Rufus quickly deflects the question by telling Cloud that these days there are many children looking for their mother so it's not surprising to hear that. He then tells Cloud to join him in restoring the world if he'd like to make these orphaned children smile again. Cloud, however, has heard enough and leaves the place. At the same time, Tifa and Marlene are seen visiting the abandoned church that used to be visited by Aerith. Marlene asks Tifa if Cloud has been living here and Tifa thinks that from the way things look, this seems to be the case. As they made their way through Cloud's items, they find a bandage which has black smears all over it. The two immediately realise that Cloud is also suffering from Geostigma.

Realising the futility of their visit, Tifa tells Marleen that they should return but Marleen insists that she wants to see Cloud. The girl then tells Tifa that they're going to go back home together with Cloud. Meanwhile back inside the Healing Lodge, the Turks are seen laying on the floor and grimacing in pain. It turns out they are currently being visited by Kadaj. Kadaj tells Rufus that he hates liars. Rufus replies that right now he's telling the truth and the fact is that they lost 'it' while trying to escape from Kadaj and the others. Kadaj doesn't seem to believe this and asks Rufus to swear on behalf of two people. He then throws two blood-smeared photo IDs belonging to Elena and Tseng.
Rufus becomes angry upon seeing the IDs and asks Kadaj the intention behind his action. Kadaj simply tells Rufus that they need the power of 'Mother' for the reunion. He also adds that 'preparation' has been underway to facilitate the reunion, referring to the Geostigma disease. Cut to a shot of Rufus' hand which is clearly has been infected by the disease. Kadaj then kneels down as he unleashed some kind of power which causes the Geostigma within Rufus to react and cause pain to its host. Back in the wasteland, Cloud whispers quietly that he promised to live for Zack's sake but he finds it hard to do so. Cue in flashback to the time where he and Zack were travelling together.

Meanwhile inside the Cathedral, Tifa and Marleen get a visit from Loz who, of course, is looking for 'Mother'. When he doesn't get the answer that he wants from Tifa, he invites her to 'play' with him. The two then begin to throw punches and fling each other from corner to corner. Tifa eventually manages to knock Loz out cold but much to her surprise, he regains consciousness quickly and becomes stronger and faster than before. However, before Loz can deliver the final blow to Tifa, Marleen throws a Materia from inside a box, causing Loz to go after Marleen and the Materia. At the same time, Yazoo is seen inside the city gathering children who suffers from Geostigma and promising them some kind of a cure.
Later on that day, Cloud returns to the Cathedral only to find the place in shambles and Tifa in unconscious state. Cloud tries to help Tifa, but unfortunately Geostigma takes a hold of him, causing his hand to secrete some black-colored substance. Cloud then passes out on the flower field next to Tifa. When he regains consciousness, he finds himself on a bed next to Tifa. It seems they've been saved by Rude and Reno, who are also there to inform Cloud that the Orphans have gone missing. Elsewhere that night, Kadaj, Loz, and Yazoo observe the materia that Loz has secured from the Cathedral. Kadaj informs the others that Materia are powers that came from Lifestream but now it'll become their new source of power.

Meanwhile, Tifa, who finally regains her consciousness is now seen talking to Cloud inside her house. She wonders why Cloud never informed his friends about his disease. Tifa believes that they can get through anything if they help each other. Cloud, however, quietly tells her that there's nothing that he can do to save anyone, family or friends. Their conversation is then interrupted by the arrival of the Turks who inform Cloud the whereabouts of the children. Cut to a shot of Kadaj, who is in the middle of delivering speech to the children. He tells them how they've received powers from 'Mother' but the planet has been holding them back and has been giving them pain. He then asks the children to join him to fight against the planet.
Kadaj unleashes some kind of an energy which occasionally changes his appearance to that of Sephiroth. He then enters a lake which causes his body to ooze black liquids. Kadaj encourages the children to do the same and to drink the now pitch-black water. The children, in their eagerness to get well, willingly do this. Meanwhile Cloud is seen speeding in his Fenrir motorbike when all of a sudden he's transported to a field full of flower. He then senses Aerith standing behind him asking him why he's there. Cloud quietly answers that he wants to be forgiven. Aerith in reply asks Cloud from whom he wants to ask that forgiveness from, prompting him to look behind him. But when he does that, the vision disappears.

Cloud then realises that the children that were taken by Kadaj have now formed a line to block his path. So he has no choice but to veer his bike aside, causing him to plummet onto the street. Kadaj announces to the kids that the guy in front of them is actually their brother but unfortunately he's a traitor. It doesn't take long before Cloud gets involved in a 3 vs 1 fight with the brothers. The fight, which is a combination of materia magic plus sword fights, quickly overwhelms Cloud. But thankfully, Vincent then appears and saves the guy from his brothers. As Cloud recuperates from the battle, Vincent informs him that Geostigma is essentially the body's attempt to expel the toxins that were brought on by Jenova.
Vincent also tells Cloud that the brothers are actually attempting to do another reunion with Jenova and this is why they need Jenova's head. Appearently the Turks brought the head from Northern Cave for Shinra but they were intercepted by the brothers, who then proceeds to torture Tseng and Elena. Despite this, they still haven't been able to find Jenova's head. Their conversation, however, is interrupted by the arrival of Marleen, who somehow manages to run from the brothers. Upon seeing her, Cloud asks Vincent to watch over her but Marleen who wants to talk to him becomes angry. She asks Cloud why he never listen to other people. Cloud tries to reason but eventually he agrees to take Marleen back to Tifa's place.

The action then shifts to the city where Loz and Yazoo attempt to bring down some kind of a monument because they think Jenova's head is hidden underneath it. People who see their action become angry but they are quickly dealt with when the two brothers release their monster summon. Rude and Reno, however, try to take down the two brothers even though it's obvious that they barely capable of doing this. Meanwhile inside an abandoned building, Rufus tries to persuade Kadaj to tell him one thing: what does Kadaj mean when he said that they will return to the way they were after obtaining Jenova's head. Kadaj, thinking that he's got nothing to lose tells Rufus that it means Sephiroth will come back.
But whether it's Sephiroth, or Jenova, or the brothers, Kadaj believe that the result will be the same for humans. After all, Jenova came all the way to Earth in order to destroy the bad species known as humans. Rufus tells Kadaj that no matter how many Sephiroth or Jenova he brings back, in the end the will of the planet will stop them. Upon hearing Rufus' words, Kadaj smiles and tells Rufus that if that was the case then they should quickly end this. As Kadaj says his words, he raises his arm which has previously absorbs a materia. He then points his arm to the sky and produces a summon: that of Bahamut. Bahamut quickly creates Pandemonium in the city, forcing Cloud and his gang to work together to combat it.

When Kadaj sees the destruction in the city, he tells Rufus how exciting the whole thing is at the moment. Much to his surprise, however, Rufus suddenly rises up from his wheelchair and throws away his cloack. It turns out Rufus does not suffer from any kind of disability that prevents him from standing like a normal person. In addition to this, he is actually the one who has been hiding Jenova's head. Rufus then throws Jenova's head out of the building, causing Kadaj to scream in anguish. Meanwhile, because of his friends' help, Cloud eventually manages to propel himself high enough into the sky to fight Bahamut. Cloud immediately tears Bahamut apart causing the summon to turns into a bright blue flame.
When he sees an explosion at a nearby warehouse, however, Cloud quickly realises that another battle has begin in that place. True enough, Kadaj, in the midst of his anger tries to shoot Rufus with a materia. Rufus, however, manages to deflect the materia and along the way let himself fall off the platform. He then pulls out his gun and aims at the building, causing destruction around the place and forcing Kadaj to jump out of the building as well. Rufus quickly changes his target into that of Jenova's head. After a few fail attempts, he manages to shoot the box containing the head, spilling its content in the process. Kadaj, who does not realise this, manages to grab the box and runs away with it using his motorbike.

Just as Rufus is about to fall into the ground, Tseng and Elena appear and throw nets from two sides to prevent Rufus from plumetting into the street. Cloud who sees the entire thing, decides to chase after Kadaj who now heads towards the church. Cue in more motorbike fights between Cloud and the brothers. Eventually, however, Kadaj manages to run into the Cathedral but he becomes disturbed when when he realises that the Jenova's box has been damaged. In his anger, he decides to throw whatever is left from the Jenova's box onto himself. When Cloud is about to strike Kadaj down, he's surprised to see an old voice telling him that it's been a while since they saw each other. Well, I'm not going further than this. Suffice to say, there will be one cool fight scene due to this incident.
Impression:
Let's just get the things that I don't like about the film out of the way first. The first thing that bothers me a little bit is the voice of the female characters. For some reason, I always thought Tifa's voice should be a lot more firmer. Unfortunately in this movie she sounds more like a teenage girl. In addition to this, Aerith sounds very cheerful here, which is the opposite of how I imagined her in the original game. I always thought there's something subdue and melancholy about her. Yuffie is probably the only female character whose voice I think fits rather well with her pushy, demanding personality.

I also find the storyline to be lacking depth. For example, there wasn't any background story given to the three antagonists. As a result, they ended up as nothing more than random bad guys who's out to create chaos in Cloud's life. I think the only thing moderately interesting about them is that their behaviour is rather similar to a group of children who've lost their mother. Well, more like a group of vengeful children who have too much powers on their hands. I also had difficulty in understanding how Kadaj transforms into Sephiroth in the final act of the story. I mean I understand what he did to facilitate this but I don't understand how technically this is possible when Sephiroth is already dead.
The good things about the films are mostly the characters and the actions. I think with the exception of the three antagonists, I like every single character in this film. SquareEnix even managed to make Rufus looking cool here. I also like the fact that there are many memorable fighting/action scenes in this film. For me, some of the highlights are the one-winged angel scene, Rufus vs Kadaj, everyone vs Bahamut, and Tifa vs Loz. This film also made me wonder where to go from here as far as 3D animation goes. The possibility seems kind of exciting. Hopefully a couple of years from now, Final Fantasy VI or Final Fantasy VIII will turned into a film as well.
Two questions about the movie I'm hoping you Garten, or anyone else, could answer for me. Maybe because I've never played the game, so I'm a little lost, but whatever answers anyone can give will be great. Thanks in advance!
1. What's the deal with dog? And I'm not talking about Red XIII. I mean the dog we see at least three times in the movie (Buster Sword, Ajit, and Cloud's nappy-nap). Any special meaning behind it?
2. What's the deal with Cloud's swords? I mean, exactly how do they work. From what I can tell, seems like he has about 6-7 separate swords but they can combine into one "big" one. I thought he also had this divine-ish blue one... or am I thinking FFVIII?
This is a damn pretty movie. Ranks up there with Innocence.
No idea about your 1st q (I gave up on VII-got sick of chocobo races and minigames). 2nd q...in the game Cloud has various swords. He essentially keeps upgrading them as the game progresses. Never got the final sword or the final LimitBreak (Chocobo races...), so don't know if they're in line with what the movie shows.
Heh, according to Wikipedia, there's some annoyance that Tifa is not as.... ample as she was in the game.
Moyism, I don't think I have the answer to either one of your question. I can only guess that maybe one of the producers of Final Fantasy has fondness for dogs. They actually appear quite often in the actual video games themselves. Some of them becomes some kind of a 'weapon' for the main characters (for example, Rinoa's dog in Final Fantasy VIII.
As for Cloud's sword, as Snowcrash pointed out, in the game you have the option of upgrading them so that they go from a thin piece of wood to Cloud's ultimate weapon. But I don't remember Cloud being able to splice his sword like that in the game. As for the big blue sword, maybe you're thinking of Tidus' sword from Final Fantasy X?
Anyway, don't take my words for it. It's been awhile since I played the game. But if SquareEnix will remake this game for PS3, I think I'll be the first to line up in front of the store.
moyism i think you're talking about Squall's Lionheart gunblade in FFVIII.
I like to make the connection between the dog and Fenrir. Fenrir is the name of Cloud's motorcycle and is also represented in his fashion accessories.
Fenrir comes from Norse mythology as a wolf which is prophecied to bring about Ragnorak, aka armageddon.
The question is, who exactly is Fenrir representing? I'm not completely decided on this ... there are 3 possibilities.
The least likely is that Fenrir is Nanaki's father. His spirit travels with Cloud now.
The next possibility is that Fenrir represents Zack. The dog was shown very briefly at the end of that flashback scene. Since Cloud uses Fenrir, his motorcycle, and Fenrir is represented on his clothing over his heart, this is not all that unlikely.
The most likely possibility...

is that Fenrir is Sephiroth. In the mythology Fenrir is bound by special binds. These binds look like thin strips of flimsy frabric, but are actually stronger than iron chains. If you look on Clouds left arm after he tears away the sleeves you can see exactly that type of bind around the Geostigma. Since Sephiroth acknowledged that he was aware of the Geostigma, it is perhaps a possibility that his dead spirit in the lifestream may have helped bring it about. And Sephiroth himself fits the mythological figure of Fenrir very well, having already once attempted to destroy the world.

It may be any one of these, or it may be a little bit of 2 or 3. It is possible that one of the staff behind the movie intended to add a little controversy for fans to talk about which may help the FF7 franchise retain its marketability. Much like what may be involved in the Matrix', Star Wars', and Star Trek's popularity.
What's up with the pink ribbon around everyone's arm?
The pink ribbons are to remind them of Aeries, and I believe them to be part of her clothing, or atleast the same fabric.
Hmm good points Theli. Personally, I believe the wolf represented Zack's spirit. The flashes of Zack and the wolf next to eachother seem to point to that. It's as if Zack became a guide for Cloud in a more representational form, unlike Aerith who seems to be able to comunicate with Cloud more directly. Also the wolf appears next to the buster sword which many people assume is a tribute (or grave in a way) for Zack.
Also, moyism, I agree with chromega and think that you're thinking of Squall's final sword, Lionheart. I remember that sword quite well. I don't think they tried to hard to match Cloud's swords with those from the game, but I wouldn't know, I've only played it once through and never even got the final weapon.
Oh and also, Anonymous and Josh, I used to think that the ribbons were a tribute to Aerith as well, but then I realized throughout the game you gather ribbons that protect the characters from status aliments, so it could also be those.
I immediately thought that the ribbon was a reminder of Aeris cuz of the color and fabric looking similar. By the way, correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the summoned monster Neo Bahamut, not Bahamut?
anyone knows the name of the sword? i remember that somewhere there was this article saying the name. It should be the combined of the 6.
SilverD, some of the online references (Wikipedia) refer to it as "Sin Bahamut", so it's apparently a new version as well.
Just the way it was for Rinoa (FF8) with her black ribbon tied at her arm which was to signify her rebellion against the galbadian army, I think Tifa and Cloud's pink ribbon was indeed to remind them of Aerith's death and all the other people that may have died 2 years ago during their fights.
Tifa and Cloud are not the only ones who wear that pink (is it pink? I could of sworn it looks reddish) ribbon. The rest of their friends also wear it as well.
I love the movie its not perfect tho and the super boost jump is cheesey at best, the red ribbon (cloud, tifa, cid and yuffie ) have are to remember aeris by and the wolf is a metaphor for cloud being a LONE WOLF.
The movie has lil to do with most of the equipment and materia of the game. The materia is handled rather badly..but its in there.
As for cloud's final sword move, he seems to keep them in his bike and when he is able to manifest his power at full he can manifest them at will in the form of the altered omnislash since they stayed after he did "teleport" them to his side, the sword he was using sometimes is semi hollow and holds a 1 extra sword. He does not have all of them on him at once even tho his sword rig on his back allows him to. He does have space for 8 or so on the bike, but only 1 I know of has a extra sword in it.
I have seen it 5 or so times checking and double checking what he does with the swords *L*
I'll add one last comment
*spoiler starts*
BTW I dont know why I am adding spoilers to something the review has already spoiled but eh....
"How Kadaj transforms into Sephiroth "
The 3 brothers are obviously infected with or born with jenova(gray hair and knowledge of jenova are clues) because that and septh's lingering ill will it wouldnt be hard to bring him back in a quick manner since he forced jenvona cells into himself and septh was jenova's last active incarnate so thats why jenova itself did not appear so once the cells where in power started powering out and you get septh reborn and its nothing to him to materialize his sword. cloud could do as much with 5 or 6 even *L*.
If you are wondering septh was born from a woman before he was born, his cells were messed with by hojo, so the brothers are like him in some way I do not know what they are born/clone/experiment, maybe anew game will tell us *L*
*spoiler ends*
The dog symbolizes the "Lone Wolf" of Cloud's character.
I was wondering that advent children was advertising a phone, everyone had it (well cloud, kadaj, the other 2 silver hair). Does anyone know if it is out yet or what model the phone is?
I guess it falls to me to answer the questions raised here.
- What did Kadaj summon?
Well, defenitely Bahamut. I'll leave the prefix up to the beholder. However, seeing the design change bahamut had in FF10, I wouldn't be surprised it'd be the 'ordinary' type.
- What's the deal with the ribbons?
Most of the Avalanche members wear ribbons, even Red XIII and Cait Sith if you look closely. They are there in their capacity to protect against status ailments, I believe.
- What about the wolf?
Obvious symbology toward Zack. I find it very unlikely for it to be linked to Sephiroth, since the said canine makes it's apprearance even after his defeat.
- What's the deal with those swords?
Through the movie, Cloud shows 6 kind of blades, with one being the 'central hub'.Each of those blades is actually a component for what looks to be a beefed-up version of the Buster Sword, sort of like a jigsaw puzzle piece. As the story develops, Cloud occasionally combines his blades, and, since he keeps gradually adding to it, by the end it's one mean kitchen knife.
- That final move, was it Omnislash?
A variant, but pretty close.
- Any other abilities show up?
Cloud also performed the limits Braver, Cross-slash and Blade Beam. We also see a beevy of moves coming from Tifa, like Beat Rush, Somersault, Meteodrive and Meteor Strike. So does Red XIII shows Sled Fang and Cid his High Jump. I'm sure there might be more, but I failed o recognize them. Kadaj seems fond of Comet.
I cracked a smile when I heard the victory ditty when Tifa 'apparently' defeated Loz. However, when I saw it was just a PHS ringtone, I'll admit it just cracked me up. ^_^;
Tony, Cloud (and others) are using Panasonic FOMA P900iV cellphone as seen on this site:
Panasonic FOMA P900iV
Unfortunately, like many other cellphones in Japan, this one only works within Japan. You won't be able to use this in any other country.
in FFVII, Aerith (ultimate saviour) summoned Holy to save the planet from the meteor, and in FFVII-AC, she summons 'water' to heal the infected people.
most of the fighting styles, camera angles and ideas directed by Tetsuya Nomura are pretty much derived from other FF series and Kingdom Hearts. Take Kingdom Hearts for example. There is a scene where cloud holds two swords fighting in the air with loz and yazoo, the fight reminds me of Kingdom Heart's secret movie.
and the spirit thingy coming out from the brothers' bodies also reminds me of FFX.
The final sword was the Ultima Weapon was it not? I am not sure of ever having heard about a sword won by chocobo racing. The ultima weapon looks nothing like the big sword.
Cloud's crazy ass sword move was sensible enough. He didn't materialize all those swords. They were already there. If you were watching a little bit, he kept adding on, but never putting them back. He just left them on the sword. During the fight with bahamut, it had become a near copy of the buster sword, just all...Cooler looking. When he goes to fight Kadaj, there's only one sword left in the fenrir, and that's the one he pulls out. He takes it apart to two swords during the fight with Seph. And when he does that attack, all the swords are back together and they all fly out and do some crap.
*Spoiler starts*
W... Wait. Tseng is alive?. I thought he never made it out alive of the Temple of the Ancients.... But that guy definitely looks like him. Too bad that, unlike in Elena's case, we can't see his name on the ID card that Kadaj throws to the floor.
*Spoiler ends*
An explanation of Cloud's swords:
After watching the movie closely, I have figured out the mechanics of Cloud's swords. He has 6 swords.
First sword, I like to call his "Core Sword." This is the sword he always uses first. It actually has two modes; a collapsed mode, and an expanded mode. In its collapsed mode, it looks like a regular sword with two layers and the hilt is in a diamond shape. When expanded, the sword opens up to reveal a complicated design, and the hilt expands into a box. He can apparently throw energy waves with this word, (like the Blade Beam Limit Break).
The second sword is just a simple hollow blade with the handle built into the blade. I'll refer to it as his "Blade Sword." He uses this sword during the Ajit fight. It combines with the Core sword by fitting it over the Core and locking into place. This was also the sword he removed from his combined sword during the Sephiroth fight. The handle of this sword can be seen in the middle of his sword before he adds swords 5 & 6.
The third and fourth swords are pretty much the same sword. They both have a serrated edge and are just mirror images of each other. I'll call them the "Serrated Swords." Cloud uses these swords during the Bahamut Sin fight. These swords are placed on the other half of the Core sword (the side not covered by the hollow blade sword), one on each side. With these two inserted, his Core sword now resembles his old Buster sword. The handles of these swords can clearly be seen on the blunt edge of his Neo-Buster near the hilt. Interesting fact: At the beginning of the Ajit fight, Cloud pulls out his Core sword and a Serrated sword from Fenrir, but after he crashed, the sword he picks up from the ground was his Blade sword.
Swords 5 & 6 are also mirror images of each other. They resemble miniature Buster swords with a very fancy hilt that has the shape of 1/4 of a circle. Their handles fold into the blade, and then the blade is attached to the outside of his Neo-Buster, covering the handle of Blade sword. He uses the first one during the highway motorcycle chase scene. Probably due to editing errors, it is never clearly shown when he attaches this sword to his Neo-Buster. What is shown is near the end, he deattaches it (it flies up into the air, and the handle unfolds), then while holding one sword in each hand, he does a whirlwind attack that cuts Loz's and Yazoo's weapons in half. The second mini-Buster was used during the fight with Kadaj. You can see him collapsing the handle into the blade and attaching it onto his Neo-Buster... though a bit quickly.
I hope this has helped anybody who wanted to know how Cloud's swords work.
best movie ever :D
First of all, I definetly enjoyed this movie.
Anyone notice that Tifa had a ring on her finger? I'm refering to the scene with her on the bed and you can briefly see her hand.
Did Tifa and Cloud hook up?
sorry for double posting. -_-"
The Ribbons are actually one of the most useful items one can equip in the Final Fantasy VII game. It's function is to prevent any status ailments, (poison, sleep, etc...)
And... I think Tifa and Cloud looked pretty platonic thoughout... His thoughts always seemed to fall back to Aeris during the movie...
I always thought Barret and Tifa were together.
Actually, I take that back...
It kinda seems like Cloud and Tifa are together... Because of that one kid that seems to be rather popular but never introduced him really (The one that was with Marlene asking if Cloud was coming back)
I think that kid is their son?
Actually thats Denzel i think hes a kid from clouds hometown. but im not sure... He ACTUALLY looks like the 2nd main character for the upcoming kingdom hearts two game. and if you watch closely hes got a 2nd (or maybe 3rd) ring like tifas on a chain around his neck.
the swords were used for clouds final limit omni-slash he used it against sephiroth in the game and you could get it in gold saucer battle arena 60000 battle points
No. Denzel's mother is Tifa. I think...
I quote:
Barret : "protect your mother" He said that to Denzel when Tifa was hurt laying on the ground at the big fight scene with all the friends fighting. It would also make sense since Cloud and Tifa are married, the ring and the kid, how come the kid is so important -- kinda adds up but it's probably wrong.
And in his dream, when Seph says he wants to take away whats most valuable to him- picture of Tifa and Denzel, kinda another clue.
I also think that the dog is Cloud's spirit. "Loner" spirit -- the dog shows up when he's dead - returns to his body (disappearing) then Cloud wakes up.
... not possible cuz isnt denzel older or maybe the same age as marlene didnt 2 yrs pass since sephiroth incident... it wouldnt add up
it said they took orphans in. and he says their names.. Tifa and Clouds names
Denzel is an orphan taken in by Tifa. That is why she is called his mother.
I'm pretty sure that what Cloud does to Bahamut after the boost is his climhazard limit break.
Barret uses big shot, but it's hard to see because he fires it into a mega flare coming his way and it sorta gets swallowed up by the bigger fireball.
I thought Nanaki used cosmo memory against Bahamut (although it was a different color from the one in the game).
One more thing: I am in love with his new sword(s).
must check limits i only got cloud vincent and tifas final limit
Griever, I must express my thanks. That's some fine investigative work, there. Those swords tend to boggle my senses when I try to track them.
Cloud does use several limit breaks. Obvious ones like Braver and Blade Beam, and also harder to distinguish ones like Climhazzard and (actually, was there even a Cross Slash?) nevermind. Curious, though, as to what people thought he did to Kadaj after he united his swords. I assumed it was Finishing Touch since it didn't really seem to hurt him, only hurl him away from the fight.
At any rate, thinking about the final attack, I have to assume that was Omnislash. Not for continuity's sake, but for the name Omni. Omni means all, all around, all encompasing, and that was most definitely what it was. Not just a string of eighteen dull attacks, but a truly awe-inspiring display of Rapage in six meaningful impacts. There are so many ways to consider the relevance of those swords and that attack that it makes my head swim.
Oh, and the wolf is Zack. Buh.
the dog represents cloud's loneliness in the movie or something like that i think.
the movie gave me the impression that cloud and tifa were together though??? anyone else get that feeling??
Denzel is a orphan. Denzel lives with tifa and marlene. Barret said look after your mommy for the fact that she takes care of him.
Marlene is Barret's daughter I think, she seemed to appear in the FFVII game. Tifa and Cloud can't be together coz, as far as I know, Cloud likes Aerith, and Tifa likes Cloud. The ring's probabaly just an accessory.
hey im not sure if this was already posted but when does this movie come out on psp or dvd? ty ~Taka

No.
Cloud DID indeed have a crush for Aeris but in AC it's clear that he seeks forgiveness for not being able to save her from Sephiroth...

for those who remember, at the end of disc 1, Sephiroth manipulated Cloud into killing Aeris which backfired, so instead he did the dirty job himself, RIGHT IN FRONT OF CLOUD'S EYES... that's why, IMHO, instead of love, he's looking for forgiveness during that time, which he considers a sin for himself...

* SPOILER* marlene is baretts friends daughter but he commited suicide
I find it perfectly plausible that Sephiroth can come back in Kadaj after he died.
SPOILERS
It is perfectly plausible because Cloud killed Sephiroth at the Old Reactor before Final Fantasy VII ended. Sephiroth was already dead at the end point of FF7, the Sephiroth that was causing all the havok in the game itself was the 'memory' caused by Jenova, used to create the Reunion to destroy the world. Jenova's cells have this tendancy to want to rejoin and destroy the world. It's what they do best.
The Brothers 'Roth in Advent Children are the product of Jenova's cells trying to cause another Reunion. Geostigma is the contamination of Jenova's lifeforce after Jenova/Sephiroth was introduced into the Lifestream at the end of FF7.
The three evil bad guys who have no backstory are in my guess to be Sephiroth clones. As to why Kadaj turned into Sephiroth... is once again...because he is in my opinion...a clone who was able to perfect himself using Jenova and the Jenova cells and to become Sephiroth.
hey guys!! i just watch the Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, all i can say is that the bike was cool and his new sword is even cooler... with the attachments and all that, like the swords fuse together... i wish i can have a picture of those swords... where could i found one?
I can't wait for this movie but its not coming out til later this year g4 said that it sold in 2 days in japan alone i can tell its going to be a big hit in the states.
All these theories seems amazing... and the one that took the time to explain the swords and the attacthment i applaude you sir!! all in all an amazing movie indeed... i hope to god that ff7 get's re-released, re-made, re-whatever on PS3... omg.. that would be sick... i offer my first born to you SquareEnix!!!!!!!!!!!
FAQ about the movie from the director and crew...spoilers of course

I think Clouds sword split into 7, not 6. 6 "side" swords and 1 core. Greiver's explaination was just about perfect, but I think he missed the last sword. If you look at the scene where the swords all falls back to the groud you'd see a large hollow in the middle one, I call that the "shell" sword, I think thats the outer most layer that goes over top of all the other swords combined.
Actuall it's only 6 swords... the "core" sword can widen to form something like a mini buster sword ( Cloud meets Rude scene) like what has been mentioned before. Also count the number of swords that detatch before Omnislash there are 5 and the one cloud holds. Also if you watch omnislash closely you see he does only 6 attacks because he attacks once with each sword,
The Wolf is Zack.
Kadoj, Loz, and Yazoo are Sephiroth clones.
Tifa's Bosom grows during the film.
Rude gets his ass handed to him, by a door.
Its a great movie, and I can't wait to get my copy.
Tifa probably isnt married. The ring was worn on her right hand, whereas a ring which symbolises marriage is worn on the left hand.
And during tifa's talk to cloud she said something about 'can't do it since we're not a real family huh?' also means they arent married.
But it would be really nice if they were though
is it possible that there will be a continuation?
and also what is the name of Cloud's new SWORD!?
That grey wolf that seems to appear throughout the movie is, indeed, Zack.
Tifa is NOT married to Cloud. As a matter of fact, she's not married to anyone. Denzel, yes, was adopted by Tifa, although when and why she adopted him in particular is quite a mystery.
Anyone remember those cloaked figures in FFVII? Notice how Kadaj, Loz, and Yazoo were dressed in black, too? Perhaps that's because they were a more powerful form of those cloaked figures that kept muttering something about a reunion. They may have just been ordinary people before and they're bodies were infused with jenova cells, thus giving them an appearance quite similar to Sephiroth's, which comes to no surprise as to how Sephiroth suddenly appears in place of Kadaj.
The issue with the Turks in the North Crater, where it seemed they were attacked, is actually something that was happening back in Midgar. Reno was the only person in the helicopter, and hearing the alarming noises over his radio, he decided to retreat to investigate.
I've also heard rumors that Rude was a student of Zangan's, thus explaining his interesting, if not impressive, moves with Loz during and after the Bahamut Sin crisis.
Anything else that you can't possibly understand about the characters, other than Loz, Yazoo, Kadaj and Denzel, would have to be investigated by thoroughly playing FFVII and actually paying attention to the plot. Every detail in that game is sucked right into the movie, therefore making it nearly unnecessary to get too detailed about the characters.
By the way, I hear Advent Children is making it's release in the US November 29th.
The ONLY major flaw I just cant believe they didn't catch was when Kadaj actually summoned Sin-Bahamut, the materia in his arm was BLUE, not RED. That really irritates me because the rest of the movie was so damn good.. Overall the best animated movie EVER!!!
Uggh.. for those of you who still can't figure out who loves who (Cloud Tifa / Aries)..
Obviously when giving comments on this topic.. SPOILER ALERT!! READ ONLY IF YOU PLAYED THE GAME AND WATCH THE MOVIE!! Or read at your own risk. I will not be responsible.
*spoiler starts until the end*
It is a common misunderstanding that players of FF7 have in regard to this issue. The misunderstanding is Cloud loves Aries and vice versa.
While the game leaves players to guess, it is obvious that Cloud loves Tifa (and vice versa). There are BIG hints in the game, not forgetting the movie.
Cloud, throughout the game, was wanting acceptance. He's always alone. In the event where Cloud and Tifa fell into the lifestream, seeing Cloud memories of when Cloud followed Tifa to Mt. Nibel - shows how Cloud wanted to be strong so that Tifa will notice him. Cloud's dream of joinning SOLDIER was also because of this very reason - to get Tifa to notice him, and to protect her.
Keeping the promise to Tifa (that Cloud will go to Tifa's rescue whenever she is in a pinch) even to the day when Nibelheim was razed further emphasize Cloud's love and concern for Tifa.
"...the way they spend the final night together alone before the assault on the Crater is suggestive of something more than just riendship.
Tifa was prepared to give up her life to look after him when it looked like he would be mentally and physically disabled for life. Certainly during the Lifestream sequence its is implied that he had deep feelings for her he could never express at the time: "......a sealed up secret...... wish......Tender memories...... no one can ever know........." A large part of that sequence is devoted to him confessing his desire to be closer to her." - Sophie Cheshire a.k.a. falsehead
The reason why Aries got close to Cloud is because Cloud resembled her (dead) boyfriend, Zack. Also because Cloud is too much like Zack, Aries wanted to get near him to know Cloud as Cloud hinself. So.. does Aries love Cloud? IMO, Aries loves Zack. Problem is, Cloud is too much like Zack ever since the Mako posioning, that creates a little fondness for Cloud but not love. That also cause misunderstanding for you people.
Cloud does not love Aries. No he don't have a crush for her. He just felt sorry for landing on her flowers =/ LOL (Considering how the flowers got OWN in the movie.. err.. o.O"). There is a bond between Cloud and Aries due to the mix-up memories Cloud had with Zack. However this bond here is not love.
Berret does not go with Tifa -___-" OMG. Berret is a terrorist who makes his hideout at Tifa's bar. And he is too old. And he is too dumb =X. And his only concern was to blow up ShinRa sky high.
That's for the game.. now to continue on with the plot in the movie.
Yes. Cloud and Tifa hook up. Married? Not yet. However, the fact that they both tie ribbons on their left arm is an obvious indication that they are a couple.
Taking a closer look at the movie, Cloud and Tifa are living together in Tifa's bar (Seventh Heaven). The kid, Denzel, is adopted by them. Marlene happens to live there as well (since Berret is too busy digging for oil o.O").
In the movie, the point where the kids were kidnapped, held in Forgotten City, Tifa talks to Cloud about his Geostigma Syndrome. Durring the conversation, Tifa mention to Cloud to "fight it together", "do our best to help each other". Then she says that she "guess we can't because we are not a real family" (oooh.. getting embarass, looks away). They probably reguard themselves as family members already. The possible reason that they are not married yet is because Cloud went away to live alone after discovering his illness.
In the movie, Cloud felt that he was not forgiven for letting Aries die (he thinks it is his fault since he is the one who let the black materia fall into Sephiroth's hands, by the way) because of the will of Sephiroth, the Geostigma Syndrome, came about. He thought that this illness came up because he was not forgiven (IMO.. he thought he is forgiven when he defeated Sephiroth but when the illness came up, Cloud felt that he wasn't completely forgiven.. and furthermore.. he caught the illness). Cloud didn't know that this is not the case and that Aries did not even hold a grudge against him whatsoever (when the phone drops in the water).
Aries actions in the movie express how she has forgiven Cloud and is showing Cloud as such. No 'love' here, just a 'watch over Cloud' with Zack (as the wolf - well.. Cloud is wearing Zack's old clothes and it have a bunch of wolves 'accessories' on them).
The last scene shows Aries walking away with Zack further emphasize that Aries loves Zack not Cloud. Cloud's feeling towards Aeris was ONLY to seek forgiveness as he felt responsible for her death. By saying that he is not alone indicates that he knows that he is forgiven, that Aries doesn't need to show him that he is forgiven any longer, and that he is now able to help others (family and friends - before that he felt he can't help anyone).
I hoped that clears up alot about the love issues between Cloud, Tifa, Aries (and who the heck say Berret ought to be chopped =X LOL).
I just wanted to say that the music in that movie was the best I have ever heard. The way it fit semlessly into the plot, and story just blew me away. Have watched it countless times. Vincent is so well done........ I love him.
SPOILER HERE BEWARE:
The best part in the whole show is Cloud's little grin when he's fighting Kadj.
SPOILER ENDS
... Didn't Rufus say " I hear you're living with the orphans."?
ORPHANS.
Cloud might've loved Aerith but I don't think Aerith loved him back... anyway,
The redish pinkish ribbon is a symbol of friendship.... isn't it? o__o''
And the wolf is Zack =D
Uh...oh yeah, one question:
Why'd it say 498 years ago when the movie was set 2 years after everything?
498 years before the scene with Nanaki overlooking Midgar. 2 years after FF7. *possible spoiler?* At the end of FF7, after the credits, it shows that same scene with Nanaki and his cubs and it says 500 years later. So 500 - 2 = 498.
Also, where does everybody keep getting this Zach = wolf thing? *Spoiler Alert* At the end of the movie, Zach shows up as a ghost, so why would he be both a ghost and a wolf "spirit?"
*Spoiler everywhere...*
Ugh, I think when Cloud fight Kadaj he was more like smirking rather than smiling :D
Hmmm, wat to say, I love this movie XD I love Cloud sooooo much, I think he is soooo cool in the movie, I love his motorbike (Fenrir) and also his new sword :)
Thanks for clearing up on the sword bit...Oh, and it is not the Ultima Weapon (the last weapon in the game) *___*
I heard the limit break (the last and new one) is called Omnislash v5... i heard they were planning to call it something else, but after they changed it 5 times (I dunno why they keep redoing it), they decided to name it Omnislash (version 5) after all :P
I don't understand the wolf part, I thought at first that was Zack, and that the guy was Sephiroth with short hair (okay, don't laugh people...) cos in the game Zack has long hair (much like Son Goku from Dragon Ball when he turned to Super Saiyan version 3 :P, but it was black) so I just thought that that was not Zack, and he looks like Sephi anyway.. (well, lotsa charas looks like Sephiroth..Kadaj, Yazoo, Loz, Zack)
After replaying the movie, however, I am convinced that the guy is Zack, so what the heck is the wolf???
Hmm, and I do not agree on the theory about Cloud not liking Aerith even one bit, cos in the game it does look like he has a crush on her... And I like Aerith better anyway.. (what kinda reason is this????)
Oh, Tifa is sooooo act-cute in the last part of the movie (right before Aerith show her face)
Hmmm, I think the ribbon is just a symbol to remind them of Aerith, I do not think it has anything to do with 'Ribbon' in the game...
So with this movie, Cloud has beaten Sephiroth 3 times XD Yay :)
1st was the Nibelheim case 7 years before AC, then it was the final ending in the game 2 years before AC, then finally the one in AC ;D
Last comment, the soundtrack rocks :D
I love the new version of One Winged Angel, and almost everything else ;)
*spoiler alert!!!*
at the start when Cloud seems to get shot point blank in the face, during a little skirmish on his bike, we notice later that it had hit his glasses... dont u think that the goggles/glasses must've been pretty strong to take a shot that close!!!
btw i love tifa's new look, although i wish i could've seen more of her in action...
*spoiler finish*
Whether Cloud loves Tifa or Aeris, i think they made the movie that way so that you could possibly interpret it however you wanted to. I think Cloud loves both in his own way. I think he did love Aeris and then that turned into guilt for failing to protect her. Whether he still does, I don't know.
As for Tifa, I see love in a more platonic way. Especially when the guilt he kept dragging for so long hinders the romance for him and Tifa. Someone mentioned the game scene those childhood memories come up. Yes, Cloud was a wimp. But I don't think he did things to impress Tifa in a romantical way, as much as he did to gain respect for himself and have her to finally look up to him (instead of vice versa). He was just a big baby in general. >_>;
I really don't see much romance throughout the whole movie, just a whole lot of underlying themes.
The only clear thing we see is that Tifa definitely still likes Cloud. But I don't see Cloud and Tifa ever hooking up. I think its at that point where it's become too similar.. too platonic to change. Their relationship will probably continue to stay the same as it is now.
And I believe Denzel was also in the game, however briefly mentioned.. and was an orphan like Marlene and was adopted by Tifa (he's not Cloud and Tifa's kid for sure - especially since it's been 2 years after u_u). And Marlene is Barett's adopted daughter - a daughter of Barett's friend who died.
*spoiler*
oh yeah and to Kay: the flashback that Cloud had when Sephiroth said something about losing the things most precious to him - it WASN'T only of Tifa in the flashback, it was of Aeris, the gang, everyone. So that still leaves things out in the open.
Plus I think people are reading way too much with the ribbons and the rings. Others had the ribbons too so that totally negates your assumption that they're married.
Besides, Cloud was living off in the church. Any normal husband wouldn't go wandering off by himself and live in a church - he would instantly get his a$$ wipped by his wife ^_^;. And I think Tifa's adoption of Denzel is more of just "taking him in" unofficially under her wing and he basically started calling her "mom".
I'm not saying Cloud belongs with Aeris or Tifa, just saying that they probably purposely left it open.
*end spoiler*
Cloud->possibly love->guilt->?->Aeris
Aeris -> ? -> Cloud
Aeris->love->?->Zack
Tifa->love->Cloud
Cloud->?->Tifa
So it's a mish-mash of things.
One thing that annoyed me was Tifa's boobs were largely unproportional. Whoever said they were too small was wrong. O_O They were waay too stiff. O_O; That leather thing she was wearing must really hold them in. >_>;
Rufus was a riot. Rune (i think thats his name) totally looked like The Rock. And all the children looked funny to me. Vincent was hawt and Yuffie - too cute. =)
*spoileeerrrrr*
Oh, yeah, about the one where Barret ask Denzel to protect his mom, I had this theory that he actually doesn't know Denzel and therefore he assume that Denzel has his mom somewhere (since he is still a kid) so he just anyhow tell him to protect 'his mom' :P
So it is not saying anything about Tifa and Denzel....
And I agree with paper on Tifa's boobs.. it is waaaaaaay too huge and the whole outfit make Tifa looks a bit fat XP
Oh, and paper... his name is Rude... (pronounced as Roo-duh) and Rufus is wayyyy hot >__<
No chocobos....
Um seriously Barrett could just be referring to Tifa as Danzel's mom -_- since she was the one who took him in. I think the idea that Barrett didn't know him is kinda weird since he definitely has to come visit Marlene from time to time, therefore got a chance to know Danzel before the bahamut incident ._.
The movie was great! Especially the graphics WOW the graphic was the awesome part. It was so cool to watch it. Also there was alot of action scenes which also made me happy. So WATCH IT. Especially I liked sephiroth the best. Sephiroth and Cloud fights wat will happen. To be continued.......
DAN DAN DAAAAAAA!!!
*possible spoiler!!*
ok let me clear up the who loves who bit:
Cloud never loved Aeris at all, he just feels guilty as he feels he let her die when Sephiroth killed her.
Aeris got close to Cloud in the first place (those who have played the game may know this) because he resembles Zack... for those that have played the game, you know the bit where you go on a date at the Golden Saucer? You can go on a date with anyone... even Barret! so its not just Aeris...
Cloud and Tifa are a couple... it's just not shown in the movie...mainly because of Cloud disappearing all the time, and having little sads, due to Geostigma in his arm. Tifa and Cloud are a family with the orphans.Tifa has started to work in a business with Cloud called "Strife's Delivery Service." The ribbons, are nothing to do with the game where you can obtain them to protect them from status, etc... they are a momento for Aeris.
Denzel is just one of the orphans that Cloud and Tifa have taken in.. so Tifa is referred to as mum.
Don't call Tifa fat!!! LOL Her boobs? I guess they are kinda big... but i reckon she still looks cool... and NOT fat! lol.
You dont see much of Rufus face? So how come you think he's hot? Or do you mean Reno?? Reno's hair is awesome, yo!
*possible spoiler ends!*
rude, rufus, reno.. puahahah
all their names start with Rs. it's too confusing for me to figure out who's who. it's been so long since i've played the game o_o
Meh, I am not saying that Tifa IS fat...
Am merely saying she looks fat cos of her outfit T___T
And I still do not wanna believe the theory that Cloud never love Aerith, cos I am more of Aerith fan rather than Tifa :P
lol i know i'm just a huge Tifa fan =P
i dont remember the game much so can someone clear this up for me?
you know how Aeris like goes to that Ancients city or w/e by herself and all... why was she being the way she was? i mean didnt she know Sephiroth was coming? or was it because she was too busy praying for Holy? sorry i forgot lol...
Aeris went because she knew she was the only one who could do it, and in dying she sent her prayer straight to the lifestream. I was always under the impression that she knew she would die there.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong on that one.
Why don't you try being locked in a glass beaker in some crappy basement for God knows how long, have mako energy crammed into every orifice of your body, be carted halfway around the world in the back of a truck, lose your identity and then see how emotionally available you are for two women...It's not easy...I know...It happened to me...once. True story.
Oh no! The love triangle argument... here! XD I don't know why I should do this, but let me clarify one thing. It's all up to interpretation, just as the others have said before. When others give their interpretation of the LT and believes it's fact, it starts to get irritating. I won't start pointing any fingers.
And by gosh, Aerith walking away with Zack doesn't mean they're together again! XDD ... but that's just IMHO.
... Anyway, it did lack in plot. The first time I've viewed it, the whole thing made no sense really... The action, although, makes up for most of it. As well as the Nostalgic feeling and the visual eye candy. Wow... and I mean it. The movie was spectacular, from the POV of a FFVII fan and gamer, however.
The release date is 11.29.05 I can't wait till then!!!!! *_*
As for the sword here are some interesting images...
http://ruliweb3.dreamwiz.com/ruliboard/read.htm?main=hb&table=img_ani&page=&num=24009&find=&ftext=&left=
thnx sigma.... i wish i remembered the link i had where it had all da swords put into a wallpaper and cloud is standing what appears to be water, and all his swords are around him
so anybody know who could be doing the voices on the us version? any known people?
hmmm im not so sure? it'll be interesting to see who does it.... i noe sumwhere in north america they are premiering tickets for the english version, as i got an email from one of the fan sites about it
um axtually Clouds Ultimate Weapon, called Ultima Weapon, which you get from killing Ultimate Weapon, is blue and transparent.
I see alot of you people havn't played through this greatest game in the world. I sugest finishing the game before you try and prove people wrong about it.
Spoiler
I've been hearing people say that Kadaj, Loz, and Yazoo were Sephiroth's clones(forgot who stated that; but i'm unofficially quoting you). So having that clone thing in mind, if Loz or Yazoo got a hold of Jenova's neck would they turn into Sephiroth?
and we already confirmed that Zack was the wolf. But that was also cool how they stated that Sephiroth could be the wolf.
I thought all of the Turks died.
and i think Marlene is Tifa's little sister...could be and probably is wrong.
did anybody else love the fact that Rude was just a sunglasses dispensor?
One of the things i liked about FFVIIAC was that they made Cloud's Buster Sword/Materia Blade believable. 'cause in the game Cloud's sword was freakin' huge...like empire state building huge. there was no way that he could be swinging that thing at that speed even with two hands...wow that sounded wrong.
oh ya and the original materia blade was Zack's and not Cloud's.
Spoiler end
*spoiler Marlene is Barrets friends daughter. Barret took care of marlene because he thought his friend died.
Spoilers for game and movie
The turks didn't die. Tseng Nearly did but must've survived. I thought Rufus died but must've been wrong. I'd die if I was blasted by dimand (think its spelt right)But can't have . Did anyone else notice Rufus' Geostigma ? I can't be the only one.
end spoilers
did anyone else notice?
*spoiler starts* contains AC & FF7 game spoilers
Its Obvious Aeris likes Zack not Cloud
at the end Aeris and zack walking away in the distance TOGETHER!!! what you think they just walk off and seperature that would be stupid!
and another thing why would cloud still like Aeris its obvious they r never going to be together Aeris is god damn DEAD!
and finally the way cloud was acting in the film just looked like he felt sorrow & guilt 4 letting her die thats 4 aeris, aeris didnt seem dissappointed or any thing maybe in the game she felt something but that was the feelings toward Zack she likes cloud as a frend nuffin else.
Now leave Aeris alone and stop paring her with cloud. if there any one she should be with its Zack. and cloud for Tifa
case closed!
*spoiler ends*
Just to throw in real quick - Cloud's Neo buster does divide into 7 parts, the "blade" one as some people were referring to is actually two, since there are two hilts. Fenrir can hold six swords and Cloud always carries one on his back if not his hand. I did some extensive detail watching since I would like to make this a cosplay item, which seems extremely hard.
thank u yuki for supporting my point =D
who here is gonna get ps3 with ff7 remade on it?? da preview graphics look awesome!
you bet i'm gonna get ff7 on ps3 thats if it comes out. i think that's the only reason i wanna get ps3 (i know stupid ain't it)
Sorry about this, but there are no plans to remake Final Fantasy 7 for the playstation 3, they only used it to show how much the previous versions/graphics of games would improve with the ps3. TT_TT That was cruel and unusual of them, and I got my hopes up... but I still plan on buying a playstation 3, I'm a devote Sony playstaion fan, unless it comes to Nintendo... They (do) plan on putting an FF game on the playstation 3 though, just not ff7. I believe E3 said it was Final Fantasy 12.
But anyway, I'm glad that you put this up, sadly, I was late to the place someone I knew was showing the movie and had to leave the early, so I only saw Cloud and Sephiroth's fight scene with bits and pieces of the rest. The rest of my knowledege comes from my friends' descriptions of the movie.^^' All I have to say is Best Graphics Ever in an anime movie I've seen, I only wish they'd gone a little more into the planning for the plot instead of making it eye-candy for the fanbase who kept begging for more. Not to say that that was bad, this movie was the product of it. So if I were scoring it, a bit plotless or not, 4/5 I just can't get over seeing them all again, not to mention how well the graphics were done, it kinda won me over. Then again, I didn't see everything so I can't be sure.
are u joking? hrmmm ill write a letter to square enix see if its true... just to make sure...they BETTER make it! but i know for sure that they are making ff7 dirge of cerberus... its about vincent, and u run around shootin n other kool stuff... not atb battle system though... should be good! seen da previews for it!
Yuki, you are wrong. First of all, just because Aerith is dead doesn't mean Cloud cannot love her. It just means they will never have kids together.
The film obviously shows Cloud and Tifa's relationships as platonic, as a brother and sister.
And if you read the web novels, you will know that Aeris does not love Zack.
Anyways, this is stupid. The movie wasn't even. that good in the first place. Beautiful, yes, but poorly written.
Holy freaking crap. Now, I'm a big Final Fantasy 7 fan, and this site just made me crap my pants, twice.
And as for you, person who last commented, STEVE, you're a moron with no taste in anything. I disagree with you completely, poorly written my ass you douche bag.
You may be right about the other stuff, but, the fact that you insulted possibly one of the best things that Square could do with this just shows how dumb you are.
I have a big part of my butt you can lick. *Sticks out tongue*
Oh, and Masamune, the Ultima Weapon is only blue and transparent when Cloud's close to death, so you need to replay it I guess before you try to make others look stupid.
duh sorry just felt posting even tho i know its been dead...
People, Aeris and Cloud are the true pairings in the FF7 World. I would like to point out Aeris did say she just got first attracted to Cloud becoz he resembled Zack in a way, but then she really wanted to know him more. Cloud on the other hand, had a more intimate relationship with Aeris, and had a more of platonic relationship with Tifa.
1. It was Aeris that Cloud comes out in the original and official artworks designed by Square Enix.
2. It was Aeris that Cloud is paired up with in Kingdom Hearts by Square Enix themselves. So tell me if Square really intended to have Tifa and Cloud together, why put Aeris with Cloud in KH?
3. Same is true with Final Fantasy Tactics. You can recruit Cloud as a character, and you see him looking for Aeris there as well.
4. Cloud did have a thing for Tifa, but that was a long time ago during their childhood.
5. Aeris was the ONE who was in the ending credits, in the flower field while Cloud was riding out in his bike, while the OST - Calling was playing.
6. It is true that you can get 4 possible matches on the Golden Saucer Date, but the most common or the 1st match would always be Aeris.
7. In AC, Aeris was more useful to Cloud than Tifa did. It was because of her that Cloud was healed.
8. Yes, Tifa and Cloud were living under one roof, but they found out Cloud was hanging around the flower field in the Church.
I'd rant more but thats probably enuff for now. LOL.
I'VE BEEN UP N DOWN ALL AROUND AND I HAVE 1 THING 2 SAY:
Please people do remember that final fantasy 7 is fictional and not real. Even the characters please people there is no point having an argument over something that doesnt existence i once was a final fantasy addict by i have come to realised that i was fighting for the right of fictional characters, i supported CloTi fans but no longer. Final fantasy is a wicked game and movie but i think ff7 is really taken over you peoples minds and can really effect your social life. i just thought i would warn you to just remember no matter how real the characters look and seem they are not real meaning Aeris, Tifa & Cloud do not exist and that love triangle is not real and you have created an image of who loves who in your head.
The way people talk about final fantasy 7 these days is as if these characters really exists and its funny seeing how people fight over who cloud loves and making up stupid things. I personally think that its so stupid how people remember ff7 more that ff10-2 this love triangle thing has gone to far. if you out it my way why wouldnt the creaters just make cloud go with who ever! so to me stop saying ccloud and aeris are the best couple or tifa and cloud becouse THEIR IN MY EYES JUST MADE OF R IMAGINATION.
plus im sure aeris and tifa wudnt want u fighting ova hu goes with cloud. i think if the knew u guys where doing dis they wud have dumped cloud on the spot probably saying
"why do the gamers think were tarts, cloud shud bow to us"
Aeris and Tifa are best friends and they both respect each other!
Ok let's clear this up again..ha ^^
*spoilers*
Alright, i AM saying this non-biasly so please hold your questions ^^. In the game you can choose whoever you want to like you vice versa. However there is a real plotline, here goes:
The reason Aeris died was for the love of the PLANET and of her friends. I believe she knew she didnt have a long life ahead of her. In the begining there was only suppose to be Barret, Cloud, and Aeris but Nomura decided to kill Aeris and bring out Tifa. He wanted to show through Aeris' death that love is not 1 dimensional. That Aeris loved the planet and all things, and that is why she had to die. In the game they set it up so that Aeris could have an impact on all the characters lives, and that when she died Tifa would take the full role of heroine. Cloud has always liked Tifa and throughout the game they recindle this relationship, their 'love' isn't corny however it is mature and mutual thing.
I believe that Cloud viewed Aeris as someone who was very wise and they had a strong friendship. I beelive he viewed Tifa as a friend he wished deep in his heart he could get closer to. And in AC they do not focus around romance because it is suppose to be already understood.\\ And it is suppose to be about survival.
Sorry that was long @;@
Zack is not the wolf, the wolf represents the old cloud before he was changed by the other character's in the game. He was the lone wolf who never cared for anyone it shows the wolf where Zack died because that is where Cloud started as the Lone Wolf.
Wow guys >.> how many of you actually watched it? Denzel is certainately not their son by blood. He's from the upper Midgar before it fell. He became an orphan cause his parents died like many of hte orphans there. They all consider Tifa a mother cause she takes care of em.
I LOVE this movie and I LOVE CLOUD & TIFA
they should be together an aerith is zack's girl
i think the wolf thing is zack but now i also think it might just be the old Cloud, and i also dont know what's up with the ribbons i only noticed vincent,Cloud and tifa wearing them but in the woods of the ajito you see marlene look aver at vincent and ask him if if he has it then you see him hold up his cape and
