Okay, now that I have the chance to see episode 3, I have to say that I'm slightly disappointed with the anime adaptation. The anime seems to omit many of the manga's humor, especially the one about the ham guy. Having said that, it's hard to be unhappy when the execution for the rest of the series is quite flawless. The animators have done a good job of telling the dramatic part of the stories. I find it easy to identify with the characters' stories and problems to the point that sometimes I find it hard not to compare/project the characters' problem to my own. The anime is also better at making Morita a stand-out character. This mostly thanks to an awesome voice acting job from Ueda Yuji. Anyway, if you like the series, the DVD will come out this August with limited edition box illustrated by Umino Chika herself.

Eureka 7 OP Theme
Performed by Flow
Note: I actually haven't watch Eureka 7 apart from the first episode. I am not sure I'm completely sold on its premise just yet. Having said that, I really like the opening theme for this show. This probably has a lot to do with the fact that I keep hearing the song everytime I go to the MiniStop here in Japan. I'm also quite surprised to see that the band responsible for this song is actually Flow, the same group that created Go!!!, one of the best Naruto opening themes. Right now, I'm really tempted to try other songs from this group and complete my conversion as Flow fanboy. If you like the song, the single will be out here in Japan on the first of June. Anyway, as usual, please let me know if you see any mistake and please note that this is the full version of the song not the TV size, so it is slightly different.
Kanji/Kana version
Melody Slow Dance

Since Mentar is quite busy at the moment, I'm going to try to review this episode in his place. I'll just start by saying that I really like this series. So much so that lately I've been trying to find some promotional materials about this series everytime I go to an anime shop here in Japan. It's unfortunate that I don't have access to a scanner so the best that I can do to show these images is to take a snapshot of it with my camera. So if you're interested, here are: a small poster for the DVD release, the back side of the poster, and Gonzo Press brochure. I also managed to buy Gao Magazine where this series is serialized as manga. I only have one issue, but from what I've seen so far, the story seems to follow the anime quite closely. Here's the snapshot of the: magazine front cover, 2 page spread, sample pages.

Well, it's Golden Week here in Japan and that means holiday. I hope I can use some of the time to catch up with the backlog, which seems to be growing at exponential rate. Anyway, moving on to this series, I don't know what else to say but to state that this is probably the only series that has managed to remain consistently interesting throughout the course of 40+ episodes. Props have to go to Urasawa-Sensei for crafting such an intelligent and tense storyline and to Madhouse for ensuring that the animation remains consistent. I also have to say that I find it amazing how a simple scene such as a single hand showing up out of an open door can be quite frightening in this series.
